Overrated, overhyped, and overpriced. 1/17/2007

Many of my family and friends claim that Bruschetta's has excellent Italian food. I have dined there twice and have been disappointed both times. The restaurant's design, one big box-like room with many windows and bare walls, allows it to beomce uncomfortably noisy. The food is mediocre at best. I have tried the spinach salad, a pasta special (a kind of canelloni), and a pasta from the menu with farfalle, peppers, and sausage. The ""house bruschetta,"" delivered to each table ""compliments of the chef,"" is simply terrible. Cold tomatoes and unmelted cheese sitting atop untoasted bread slices? For a restaurant named for that food, you'd expect much better. In general, the food was no better than the bland entrees at a chain restaurant a la Olive Garden, but costs 3-4 times as much. To be fair, the service is highly attentive, and the location is great, but there are plenty of more attractive options on the South Side for dinner. Pros: Service, Location Cons: Food, Ambience more
