Gonna Miss It 1/27/2009

Wow! I moved from Denver and then back again and was VERY sad to see that Magia has closed. I know at first they had a tough time ""getting things right"" but they accomplished that and then some the longer they were in business. I just think they were ahead of the times and most folks unfortunately were not familiar with the tapas concept. Too bad, especially in these tough economic times where small plates and portions are now in demand. It also was a great place to party! They had some of the best music groups in on Fridays and Saturdays. I will especially miss that. It's very difficult to find a nice place to gather, have some great food and wine, listen to some great music and chill out. There was no place else like it in the nearby surrounding area. Now where do I go without having to go all the way downtown? more

Huh? 1/9/2009

Not sure what Lilly1971 is talking about as the restaurant has been closed since August so how could someone have possibly eaten there in November, 2008????? Goes to show how reliable and accurate the reviews can be. Also gotta wonder why someone would trash a closed restaurant!?!? Maybe reviews for restaurants should be taken with a grain of salt. All it takes is a few ""bad reviews"" and a restaurant is in trouble. Give any thought to the fact that disgruntled employees, etc can write anything they want and the general public is inclined to believe it??????????????? Such a shame... more

DEFINITELY NOT WORTH TRYING 11/5/2008

Seriously, how is this place still in business? My husband and I ate here almost a year ago, and I still remember how bad the food was. You could tell the dishes used frozen Green Giant vegetables. It was obvious that there was imitation crab in the dishes too. Definitely not worth trying. Pros: The waitress was helpful, the atmosphere was nice too. Cons: The food was really, really, really bad. I'm sure I could have cooked it better myself. more

Where did the 6 hrs go? It was great!! 5/9/2008

We heard that bistro Magia had wine tastings on Saturdays. Pros: Ambiance, decor, service. Excellent!! Very high end Bar..JD and Stoli are the well drinks Cons: Music sometimes loud ...small place for a three piece...but ok more

HORRIBLE food, no taste, DO NOT bother going! 4/4/2008

If you truly know what authentic spanish food is, then this is NOT the place for you. I am Puerto Rican and I recently moved from Florida, where Latin/Spanish food is plentiful, so I am a little more picky than the average person when it comes to Latin/Spanish food. Pros: nice area Cons: Nasty food, pricing for no reason, not authentic in the lease bit even the music. Don't go. more

Great time, authentic cuisine tasteful Mediteranium decor 4/3/2008

Totally enjoyable night at Bistro Magia. Pros: Very personable wait staff Cons: live music a little loud more

High hopes, empty stomachs 3/7/2008

My girlfriend and I noticed this ""bistro"" recently and decided to give it a try one Friday night. BIG mistake. The first thing both of us noticed was the temperature of the place once we sat down. I'd recommend bringing at least a couple layers, because apparently they don't have heat in this establishment. We each ordered a drink, and ordered an appitizer and split an order of paella. We ordered one of their warm tapas, steamed mussels, which came out served in a bowl with pasta. The presentation was good, the food was awful. The mussels were overcooked and rubbery, and the pasta they were served with was overcooked as well and lumped together. Around 20 minutes after our appetizer came out, they served our main dish--seafood pallea. I was a little bit apprehensive about eating anything further from here, especially seafood, and rightly so. All of the seafood was overcooked and rubbery, similar to our appetizers. The dish itself looked like they'd picked up a box of peas and rice and some frozen seafood and thrown it together. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Cold inside, terrible food more

Horrible food 2/1/2008

My son and I ordered the portabello stack and the quail tapas. The quail was a tiny portion served on a bed of tasteless noodles ($10). The portabello stack ($15) was overcooked & the bottom burned (a hockey puck). They exchanged this for chili steak bites, which were just okay (many fatty pieces) and not a great value for $10. Happy hour is over at 6 PM, so we didn't order drinks. Everyone who worked there seemed extremely friendly. Nice atmosphere. I hope they make it, but their food quality is going to need to improve dramatically or they will be out of business soon. more

What happened to your chef!!!!! 1/20/2008

Ok I went to Bistro with some friends one night during the week of Christmas and the service was awesome. Loved the food, great flavor, wonderful presentation. Even more awesome that the Chef Mike came out to talk to us. Not everday you get to meet the artist who created your delicious meal. Well, we came back this last week and Chef Mike isn't there any more and well so went the wonderful food. Just did not taste the same. What happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Truly feel they made a mistake letting go such a talented Chef. Good luck staying in business. Pros: Beautiful atmosphere Cons: Terrible food since they changed Chefs more

Romantic 1/4/2008

My wife and I ate here several weeks ago. We were very impressed with the presentation of food and the waitress service. We felt like we were eating with family. The waitress was funny and was very helpful. She was able to help us make a great selection of tapas. Everything tasted great. The resturant was beautiful. We recommended the resturant to a friend who went after us. They found consistency and loved the Jersey girl. Again the chef came out and spoke with them which made the perfect end to a great evening. The happy hour was great and your wine selection great. We hope you stay open and we will definitely call in advance to see if Nancy and Mike the chef is there. Pros: Romantic Cons: Often got chilly more

Pleasureable 12/28/2007

My friend Iand I went there because it was recommended by a friend. They told us the waitress was awsome and the food much improved. We came and had a great time. Nancy was great and the chef was great. We ordered a bunch of food and the presentation was great. Everything came out slowly so we could savor each dish. We laughed because Nancy would change plates for different foods so we could only get the flavor from each which was great but we joked with her on who does the dishes. What a great time we had. We will recommend your place over and over again. Don't let your staff go they really make it enjoyable. Pros: Spectular service and food Cons: sometimes got cold more

Bad service, worse food, don't waste your money!!! 12/16/2007

Received horrible service. Wrong wines, very very slow, you name it. The best food of the night was my son's Mac & Cheese. Seriously. We tried two of the tapas, Shrimp Fritters (way undercooked and slimy) and Chili Steak (which was tough, overcooked and rather tasteless) and it took 35 minutes for them to get to our table. My wife ordered the Strip Steak cooked medium. It was a hockey puck. I had never tried quail and love to try different foods. In this case a HUGE mistake. The birds were dry and tasteless. I think that would describe our entire evening...dry and tasteless! Pros: Nice location and good building Cons: Service, food, drinks, overall atmosphere more

Do NOT recommend 12/11/2007

My husband and my three year old attempted to dine here on a Sunday night at 5pm. It was not busy at all, only one other table when we arrived, three other tables when we walked out at 6:15pm. We ordered 4 different tapas, two of them came out after an hour at which time we were told one of our other choices was unavailable. There was one waitress- no bartender- no other employees visible. After requesting our bill because our child was getting restless, the waitress told us the cook did not show up and the owner was cooking. Would have been nice to be told this when we arrived. Also, advertises as ""family friendly"", however they do not have booster seats. The food we did receive was average. Will NOT go back. more

Practice needed in the restaurant biz... 11/5/2007

Four of us went Friday night. I was very excited about tapas and european cuisine in this area, since I grew up in Europe and there's nothing like this in Littleton. I was very disappointed. My meal came out first, then 15 minutes later my companions came out and then the other couples meals 15 minutes after that, THEN the hot tapas came out towards the END of the meal, and two of the things we ordered they were out of and the one waitress didn't tell us until the end. My salmon was lukewarm and my friends quail wasn't cooked all the way. Now the NY strip steaks, they were probably clearance from the Wal-mart across the street, horrible! Only about 1/2 inch thick and med rare came out as rare and was about 40% unedible fat. The broccoli was burnt. The potatos were hard and not cooked all the way. Pros: Nice setting, clean bathroom, excellent live musician Cons: lights too low, food disgusting, price to high, horrible service more
