My husband and I were looking for a quiet dinner and excellent food. Definitely some of the best Italian we've ever had! Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable and wine he paired for us was excellent. Place didn't feel touristy; very intimate. We will definitely return. more

Food is excellent! Love the Penne with Chicken, the ravioli, and the Risotto. Service is Old World impeccable. If you can get a reservation in the Jazz Lounge, have dinner there. Or go in for a cocktail or a late night coffee. They have great live music six nights a week, and not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Very classy more

I've always loved this place! 2/26/2012

I have been visiting my brother who lives in San Francsico for years, and we always plan to make reservations at Zingari. We both love to sit back and listen to live entertainment, especially jazz, and we have always enjoyed consistently wonderful music at this restaurant. Not only the music and ambiance, but the food is superb. The service has always been excellent, even when they are busy. Although, when I see that a restaurant is busy, I don't expect such good service and they have never let me down. Some people expect everything immediately, despite how many other customers are waiting to be served, but I like to just sit back and enjoy myself and appreciate their fine food, service and ambiance. If you haven't been to Zingari, you definitely should make reservations for a special evening... and plan to stay awhile! more

Super!!! 2/24/2012

My parents brought me here when I came to visit them because they know how much I love Italian food, or should I say fine Italian dining. This was perfect for what I was in the mood for and I can't tell you how much I loved this place. My parents love jazz and so I guess I got my love for jazz from them, and listing to live jazz was perfect for all of us. We could eat and enjoy ourselves without feeling like we had to talk about a lot of what was going on in our lives. This was the first time in a long time that I enjoyed spending time with my parents without feeling like I was on the spot, because we were too busy dining on fine Italian food and listening to some really great tunes. more

Service was great 2/23/2012

I went there to meet a colleague for a drink, ended up ordering a few apps, and staying for quite some time. Later, we ordered dinner. It was totally unexpected. I thought I would be there for 30 minutes, but that turned into a little over two hours. Nice place. I'll make reservations next time and plan on staying a while. more

Great Time Food and Jazz 2/22/2012

We have been enjoying Zingari for years, as it has always been on our ""must dine"" restaurant list in San Francisco. Whether you are living in the area and have never had the opportunity, or passing through, this is an excellent choice if you really want to relax, enjoy some wine, listen to some music, and dine on some of Italy's finest foods. That about sums up our experience, consistently a wonderful dining experience every time. more

I am the kind of guy who likes hanging at the bar, having a few drinks, apps, and maybe stay for dinner. This place rocks! Having live music makes it even better. I've never had anything that I didn't like, and I can eat Italian food all week long. I've brought my wife here and met friends, and we've never been disappointed. more

We love the food! 2/16/2012

My wife and I loved this place. I couldn't decide what to order because every time one of the servers were delivering food to another table, I kept seeing some awesome food that I wanted to try. Don't go there once, plan on going there a few times and trying as much of their food as possible. My wife and I shared two entrees and we plan to do it again, and can't wait to try more. more

I love 5 star restaurants! I met some friends and had a few drinks and apps, but had another engagement so I couldn't stay for dinner. I'm definitely coming back for dinner after all the great things my associates had to say about this place. Now that I've been there for myself, I know them to be true! I'll be back Zingari! more

Great food, wonderful service and Live Jazz 2/13/2012

I took my wife to an early Valentines day dinner this past Saturday, The place was packed. At the time we had made our reservation we requested to be seated in the Piano Lounge where they feature Live Jazz, However when we got there, we were greeted nicely, but we had to wait for about 15 minutes to be seated in the Jazz room. We were told that due to the Chinese new year parade lots of people were late in coming for their reservations and thus causing this wait, They did offer us a complementary glass of wine for our wait.. Nice touch. Once we sat down the food and service was just superb. Raj our server was very knowledgeable and provided attentive and unobtrusive service. We had Lobster Ravioli and Crab cakes for appetizers and they were both prepared well and tasted wonderful. For Entrees my wife chose Scallops in Lemon Thyme sauce, and I tried their Rack of Lamb which was a special of the evening. I loved my lamb as it was perfectly cooked and my wife really enjoyed her scallops. We shared a Tiramisu for dessert and that was the best I have ever tasted. The only negative was that the place was too crowded and dining tables were little too close to one another. But given the way I was treated I will definitely go back. more

This is my new favorite. When I come to San Francisco, I will be sure to visit this restaurant. I love Italian food and northern style is my favorite. I love jazz, and they had live jazz which put them at the top of my list, fast! more

A Great Find - Highly Recommended 2/11/2012

We came from Austin, Texas and stayed at the Donatello Hotel and was very pleased. No complaints. We dined at Zingari and it was just what you would expect. With all the restaurants in the area, it was a good choice. This way, we could listen to live music and stay as long as we wanted, and not have to drive before retiring for the night. No complaints, the food was superb. more

I've been going there for years... 2/10/2012

I have been dining at Zingari for years, and was offended personally when I read some of the insane reviews. People look to reviews and I understand that, but I've never thought of actually writing one myself. Some people are so caught up in their own worlds and expect everyone else around them to cater to them. They don't understand that a five-star restaurant such as Zingari gets busy, and when there are other people, then there is a waiting list. Zingari has been packed almost every night as long as I can remember. I have never understood when other people would give the wait staff a bad time, and I don't understand a lot of these reviews. The food has consistently been wonderful, I've never had a problem with their service, and have always looked forward to who they have playing for entertainment. My advice to those looking for a nice place to dine is to sit back, relax, and just enjoy. Zingari is a wonderful place to dine. more

Definitely a Five-Star Restaurant!!! 2/8/2012

This is definitely a five-star italian ristorante. I have no idea what these other people are thinking by complaining, unless they are snobs. Of course a restaurant like this is busy, everyone wants to eat at such a nice place and listen to live music. I love this place and would highly recommend it. If it takes a few extra minutes to get your food or drinks, it's because they're busy. Make reservations for a less busy time if you want, but don't expect the chef or bartender to drop everything for you if he or she has five orders ahead of you. Don't read what they have to say, judge for yourself and enjoy the higher rated reviews that focus on the positive things about this restaurant that you will love! more

This place is the best!!! 2/7/2012

This is a popular restaurant and can be very busy. When we go there, we are sure to make reservations to get in early, especially on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. As busy as it can be, the service always surpasses my expectations. The entertainment is nice while you're waiting for your food, so I really like taking my wife to this place for a romantic meal. I can't say that about many restaurants, so I thought I'd leave a review of this one since it's my wife's favorite. That, by the way, is a good tip for those of you who want to treat your wife or girlfriend to something special. There is always live jazz, and the food and wine won't ever let you down. more

Fantastic Place for a Party 2/6/2012

If you love jazz and italian food, then you will love this restaurant. My family made reservations to celebrate my birthday since those are the two of my favorite things in the world when relaxing, in addition to good company. The night ended up being one of the best birthday dinners I've ever had. The food was superb, the service was excellent, although it was a very busy night for Zingari, my family really enjoyed it. Everyone was delighted with their choices and the live entertainment. Thank you, Zingari, for making this an exceptional night... since it was my 50th birthday, I guess I kind'a needed something a little more special to bring it on. more

Best Italian in San Francisco 2/5/2012

Best Northern Italian I've had in a long time. Loved the jazz, the wine, and the company. My friend has been trying to get me to come and visit so that she could take me to this restaurant for a long time and now I see why. This is a must visit place in San Francisco, and it is very conveniently located to where you don't need to worry about drinking and driving. Plan on having an awesome evening with excellent service, food and entertainment. more

Excellent Northern Italian Food - Highly Recommended 2/4/2012

My wife really wanted to enjoy some live jazz, and in searching around the San Francisco area, we found Zingari. What a night. The jazz was so relaxing to listen to, that we stayed for a long time and had dinner. It may as well have been Valentine's Day. I don't know if we'll be able to find a restaurant to top our experience last night for Valentine's Day so, if not, then this one will have to do. We will come back again and again to enjoy some more of this fine food. We love Italian and are always searching for the best Northern Italian food ristorantes, and this one is one of the best we've tried so far. My wife had the salmon and I enjoyed your linguini special and it was fantastic. The wine selection was very nice and we couldn't make up our minds for a good while, and was so happy with the wine my wife selected, we ended up ordering two bottles and taking a taxi. more
