Editorial review from Citysearch 2/3/2014

I have taken all if my pets to Rainier Beach Vet for many years and have received nothing but professionalism, and genuine care for my pets from Dr. Young and his staff. I live along the Kent /Renton boarder and I drive 40 mins to see Dr. Young and am happy to do so, I would drive double that for him and his staff. I think he is one of a kind. I HIGHLY recommend Rainier Beach Vet to anyone. more

Always caring 11/26/2010

Dr Young and his staff have always been very caring with my pets. They are honest about what's going on and never try to upsell you on services or products. I've taken 3 cats and 2 dogs there. My female dog was spayed there. When I took her back to get her stitches out she PULLED ME into the lobby. She was actually excited to go back in. How weird is that? more

If your pet is in need this is the place to go 10/29/2010

I have visited many different types of Veterinary services on both the North and South end of Seattle in my 16 years here. You would be had press to find a better Veterinary service with a more caring Vet and staff for your Family friend. This not only applys to pets accompinied with their owner but Dr. Young has been known to provided services for animals who are not claimed, the cost is out of his own pocket. I never feel taken advanage of or my pet for that matter. more

Amazing doctor, Amazing prices! 8/30/2010

Rainier Beach was recommended to me 4 years ago by a co-worker who has been taking her pets there for years. Although I drive 20-30 minutes each way to get to/from, it is well worth it. Not only is the clinic clean and the staff very nice/helpful, but having your pet cared for here is extremely affordable. Dr. Young is amazing...very compassionate. Recently, I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat August and Dr. Young came to my house (at no extra charge and after a long day at work) so that August could spend the last minutes of his life in a familiar, comfortable environment surrounded by those who love him. I don't think that would even be offered as an option in many other clinics. I hope this man never retires. (; more

Dr. Young and his staff are FABULOUS!!! 8/6/2010

I couldn't imagine taking my pets anywhere else. This is a family institution that has been in the area for years and doing a great job. I moved out of the area but would make the trek to RBV instead of finding a new vet. To the Dying Pup poster ... grief makes you say things you don't mean, and me as well as all of Dr. Youngs other patients know for sure that what you said was completely unfounded as well as untrue. Be careful of the words you may use ... you can't take them back. more

Dying Pup 2/16/2010

the pet owner below is crazy, this is the most caring and low priced vet i have ever been to. My dad has been taking his dog here for 10 years, and i have been taking my dog here for 5 years. Not long after i got her i found out she had Parvo, if you have dogs, you know how serious this illness is. It takes 9 days to run its course, it basically sucks your animal dry while making them unable to eat or drink anything. I took her in on her 5th day of having the illness, not knowing what it was. He immediately pumped fluids into her through an IV and kept her for 3 days making sure she recieved the nutrition she needed while the illness ran its course. Had she not been recieving these nutritions through an IV, she would have surely died. She was maybe 3 months old at the time. For the 3 nights she stayed, plus the IV treatment, and the meds she came home with he charged us $90.00. You tell me where you can find a vet that will keep a dog for 3 days, save them from PARVO, and prescribe medication for $90.00. No where else. he is the best. Pros: Best in Town more

Careless doctor? 1/18/2010

Figaro was taken to this Rainier Beach Hospital, at emergency. He was hit vicious by somebody and lost his use of the front right leg. The doctor did nothing to ease his pain and he died during the next night. The doctor supposed to know if he had chances, then fix him, and if not, put him to sleep. I thnk that he suffered for about 20 hours. He also mistreated two other of my cats. My opinion is that everybody that takes the pet there, are taking risks. I hope it will not happen to you. more

Dr. Young is great! 11/16/2009

We've taken our pets to Dr. Young for decades now and he continues to offer our pets the best vet care. He's very compassionate and knowledgeable. Pros: Economical with great vet care more

Best by far 10/14/2009

I have been bringing my pets here for 17 years and travel 30 miles round trip because I love it so much. Dr. Young is one of the few vets that are concerned more about your pet then the almighty dollar. He once took my dog home for the weekend because he had surgery on a Friday and he wanted to observe him over the weekend. I wouldn't trust my kids to anyone else more

VERRY HAPPY WITH THIS VET! 8/26/2009

Dr. Young (The vet.) is so nice, and so are all of the workers at this facility. I used to go to another vet and the bills were in the mid-hundreds, and after switching to Dr. Young, there hasn't been one bill over $100 (and thats for 2 dogs at one time), the vet is so much better and so much less pushy compared to the previous vet, the old vet wouldn't give options of care or anything, but with Dr. Young we get to choose what to do, even with something as simple as what flee med to use on my dogs. I am so happy with the way my dogs are treated here, i'll never switch vets again! I recommend this vet to everyone and anyone looking for a vet to go to! Pros: low price high quality care. more

Compassion beyond belief 7/31/2009

I have written here before singing Dr. Young and his staff's praises but feel absolutely compelled to do so again. I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer myself (at age 36) and we found out last week that my precious angel Gigi (kitty) also has a large tumor in her chest, and we have no idea how long I have left with her. I can not express to you how compassionate this man and his staff are. His absolute honesty, yet gentle display of respect and sincerity are attributes you don't find in most people period, much less a vet. I feel great gratitude for these people who have handled both me and my kitty with nothing but love and compassion. You simply can not find a better vet in Seattle. Pros: Incredible bedside manner Cons: None more

Not very happy here! 3/3/2009

My fiance and I would have to say that we were unimpressed and disappointed by this veterinary hospital cleanliness and service! We expected more since this place has been around for over 20 years and the ratings we saw were 4+ stars. Given this we travelled 20+ miles to get to what we thought would be excellent service. The women office staff were unwelcoming and had ""attitude"". Our dog recently had surgery here and upon our follow up appointment the vet assistant brought her out dripping (""red liquid"") from her wound onto the facility floor! This was not cleaned when we were there either, just stepped on while we were looking....This was awful and startling! I mean she is like our little kid! Further, we felt our dog was ""man-handled"" to say the least when she was brought to us by the vet assistant. While her surgery went well, and we thank the Doctor, we were not thrilled about his support staff. Nonetheless, we will not return here. more

Best vet on earth most reasonable price in universe 8/8/2008

I love this place. The vet is very knowledgable, very nice and kind to my pets. I have many different kinds of pets and i always take them here. I have lots of experience with nicer more expensive places, this place is actually even better when it comes to having an experienced vet. Besides a quality care, Dr. Young keeps the cost so reasonable makes it so affordable for an animal lover like me to keep all my pets up to date on their vaccinations and general health concern. There's no need to take your pets to those fansy vet clinics, this place is all an animal ever need. I recommend this place to anyone in the area. Pros: very affordable, the best vet on earth more

Best Vet in the Universe. 4/8/2008

My family has been going to Dr. Young for 17 years now, and we will never change. He is the gentlest, kindest vet I have ever known. We have a constant parade of animals coming into our lives and we bring them all to him. He charges almost embarrassingly little for his services, and though I've never asked him about it, I believe the reason he charges so little is so that everyone can have care for their pets, no matter their financial status. He just genuinely loves animals and it shows in everything he does. Pros: Care, cost, open on Saturday Cons: have to be there by noon more

Wonderful, friendly, and reasonably priced 3/12/2008

I have been going to Dr. Young's veterinary clinic for over 10 years, and it has remained a high quality clinic at very reasonable prices the whole time. I moved to Kent 4 years ago, but decided to keep going to Dr. Young. It is well worth the drive. Pros: Great Service, Great Price Cons: No Cons, but try to avoid Saturday morning walk-in service, it can get very busy. more

Excellent Veterinarian 2/26/2008

Rainier Beach Veterinary Hospital is my all-time favorite vet. The staff is always friendly. Dr. Young is very helpful, experienced, knowledgeable and has an exceptionally good ""bed-side manner."" I have two cats and two dogs, and they all have gone to him. About a year and a half ago, I had to put my 8 year old Siamese down, after repeated attempts to alleviate a chronic ""cough"" he had developed. (It ended up being a congenital issue, and his brother had to be put down at age 6, three years prior to this.) Dr. Young was very helpful through this whole process, and I have developed a lot of trust in his expertise and advice. He also was very sensitive and thoughtful throughout the agonizing process of putting down a beloved animal. I have to say, that Dr. Young is a rare find these days, someone who is clearly devoted to what he does, and offers exceptional animal care for absolutely reasonable rates. more

Vet to Get 7/19/2007

Me and my doggy love Rainier Beach Vet. She gets excited every time we have to go there. They are nice, concerned, clean, attentive and affordable. They are less than two blocks away from our home so they are also convenient. The staff and the doctor are fantastic. Pros: Clean, affordable, concerned, helpful more

A terrific vet! Reasonably priced and even takes walk-ins. 2/7/2007

I was referred to this vet by a co-worker who has used him for years. I was pleasantly surprised by friendly staff, walk-in service, and very reasonable prices. My dog needed to have surgery and Dr. Young made the whole process painless and easy. On top of this, his prices were a fraction of my former vet. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone in the Seattle area. Pros: Great prices, helpful staff, walk-in service more
