Wings Model Management

I was with Wings for over 2 years and it was a huge waste! I booked a few jobs, but it wasn't as much as the other agencies were booking. I had to miss one casting, because of a college exam and I informed Jake, who replied with a nasty long email. After that I switched agencies and I have been working almost everyday! Wings told me that I was too short to do runway and most bookings (I'm slightly under 5'8) and since I left I have been in a runway show, magazine and several fashion TV segments. This is within a month of working with a different agency. Stay away from Wings! Jake acts like a diva most of the time and your agent should treat you with respect. You will never get updated pictures on the site either, which you have to pay for. more

Wings Model Management is a big scam. They call you and call you until they get your money. They were careless, my comp card info was all wrong, I have brown eyes but they said I had blue eyes, I have brown hair but they had it down for blonde hair... Seriously??? They put my pictures on the website but my pictures aren't clear, they told me to send recent pictures and I sent them but Jake sent an email back saying I should of sent them earlier and it's difficult to put new photos on the site. Uhh you told me to send you new photos and I did.. \r \r They call and bug you and after they get your money, they don't ever call you back.. Uhhh hello?? where are my emails so I can go out to casting calls. I got scammed, save your time and money. more

Over the last several years, my son (now 20) has been told he should consider modeling. After surviving his freshman year of college and still unsure what he wanted to major in, we decided to look into modeling. Since we were so inexperienced and knew NOTHING about this business, I called a friend who works in the Cincinnati Theatre, who has traveled fairly extensively as a vocal and performance coach for local talent. I asked him first off if he thought my son really had the qualities needed for this type of work and, if yes, how would he recommend we proceed. Without any hesitation, Wings Model Management was the first place he HIGHLY recommended and then submitted my son's photos there. He stated if a model/actor/musician has potential, Jake Lang at Wings was ""the guy"" who could and WOULD make it happen, which is apparent by his previous, now famous talent he has discovered, and also because of his impressive connections in the larger markets such as Hollywood, New York, Paris, etc. \r \r Within a few days of submitting the photos to Wings, we received an email from Jake to come in for an interview. From the minute we walked in, we felt at home. The assistants at Wings were welcoming, and Jake spent almost two hours with us explaining how the business works. He was honest about the positive qualities that would be in my son's favor, yet also gave constructive feedback in a very professional and kind way. He was sincere and made no promises about anything, other than that if my son followed his advice, showed up for casting calls, and made an effort to do his part, that Jake would do all he could to line up auditions. My son signed with Wings and has NEVER regretted it! Jake has done absolutely EVERYTHING he said he would do and then some! Jake has gotten numerous auditions for him, put him in front of Hollywood agents and managers, who ended up signing him. He and his staff have answered the billion questions I've had VERY patiently and courteously and have NEVER made me feel like the pest that I'm sure I've been at times. Jake and his assistant, Allie, have spent countless hours working with my son and have treated him like family. Jake has answered emails after hours, on the weekends, etc., and even called on a Sunday to deliver the news about my son getting signed in LA. A close friend of mine (a former NFL quarterback with experience and connections in the entertainment business) has been keeping in touch with me about what's going on with my son and he totally agrees with EVERY step Wings has taken to date!\r \r In summary, we are so grateful to Jake and Allie and the entire staff at Wings for all they have done and couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. The two years I spent with Jake were useless. He just doesn't work for everyone. Only a few. I don't know if an honest word has even been uttered from his mouth. I caught him in a lie every single time I spoke with him. If questioned, he has a diva fit. He's a strange unhappy man. Stay away. I'm modeling successfully now, only because I got away from Jake Lang and Wings. Save yourself two painful years. Go with any other agency but Wings. AND, he owes me money he said he would never pay me. ""Everyone leaves Jake"", that's what one of his assistants told me. FYI one of the ""good"" reviews on this website was done by his assistant. I completely understand that review now. He refuses to pay people, that must be how he makes his money. Keeping it all. What a loser.\r more

Help! I also got called in today for a meeting! There were about four other people in the room with me! I'm not afraid to fight fire with fire and will confront someone if this does turn out to be a scam! Tell me the exact process you went through, so I know what to watch out for! more

This agency is a total scam. Run and run fast. The owner Jake Lang is unprofessional, rude, arrogant, scam artist...need I say more. Please listen to the reviews, they are accurate. AND any review that is positive is most likely written by Jake. Anytime an agency wants a web fee to ""post pictures"" before they even see the talent raises red flags. The website has models that are no longer with the agency. The main point is Wings is a scam, Jake will take your money, if you are serious about modeling do your homework and research agencies before handing money over for ""modeling"" classes. more

Jake Lang is Amazing!!! My daughters have been working with him for almost a year now and it has been a great experience. After signing with Wings, the girls have had some wonderful opportunities. Two thumbs up for Wings!! I've been modeling for 6 years now, 4 of them with Jake! My career did a 180 once I signed with Wings! Through my previous agency I received two jobs in two years, with very few calls for even an audition. Since signing with Jake I have had consistent work and consistent OPPORTUNITIES to get work. I've been able to travel the world and yes make money! The biggest point I can stress to anyone considering this field is that Jake can only get you in the room and in front of the right people. As the talent it is your job to win the work not Jakes, as with any agent and talent. Everyone isn't meant for the business but those who are Jake is your guy! Jake aside, Wings as a whole has filled every expectation I've had. Never have I felt unprepared or unsure of what to expect going into a job or worse then that, felt stranded in a foreign place with no one to call. Wings is always very responsive and personable, reaching out to me to make sure I am always comfortable and aware of what is expected of me! If this is something you want Jake can make it happen! more

I dont understand why people are on here talking bad about Jake.. He is absolutely AMAZING! Ive been with him for about 15 years and I am completely satisfied. im 20 years old and ive lived in NYC and im currently living in Los Angeles. Ive done the Expos. AMTC to be exact .. Thats how I got exposed. The award Ceromonies are for us to enjoy ourselves and have a good time. Ive signed with agents in New York And LA through the Expo. its def worth the money. Especially if this is really what you want. I was on the verge of giving up my dream when I got pregnant in high school. Jake stuck with me through thick and thin every step of the way and that is why im in LA now. All these people complaining about having to move to LA and pay rent,bills,ETC.. It's not jakes job to support you. HIS JOB ENDS WHEN YOU GET THE AUDITION.. THE REST IS UP TO YOU. Im forever grateful that I met jake and that he has opened so many doors for me. I would not be here today if it werent for him. Everyone needs to realize this is a hard business to be in and not everyone makes it. Matter of fact, MOST people dont make it. You cant blame jake because your child isnt getting jobs. its up to the casting directors whether or not your child has the right look to come to the audition. Just because you have an agent doesnt mean you will get work. There is cost. You need to be exposed, You need pictures, you need to get out there. Jake isnt supposed to do it all for you. His jobs is to send your photo to people so they can see you. if they dont like you its not jakes fault.\r \r Also jake shouldnt have to pay for your child to get their pictures for their portfolio. If you want this YOU have to be willing to do whatever it takes. He definitely isnt a liar or a scammer if he has so many succesful actors/models. Satisfied and Very pleased. \r We signed and have been affiliated with Wings Model Management for the past 4 years with no complaints. Turnaround time for payment can be lengthy, but not outside of the industry norm for collection. Jake Lang is realistic and has solid connections around the world. This is a very competitive business so 'making it' isn't always easy. Wings can't make it happen for you unless you do your part and work hard. If you want photos, be prepared to do a lot of testings. Building a book is a part of a model's job. Attitude is important. If you or your parent are hard to work with, it's kind of a given that you might not get cast into jobs. Wings gave the guidance and encouragement, while we were in the 'minors' and just like a team has star athletes, I guess agencies put in top players who can deliver. All business is bottom line driven. Wings delivered on the promise, so we plan to stay loyal. more

Jake Lang signed my daughter then spent two years lying to us about everything. He plays favorites and only sends his fav models to castings, only pushes the favorites. He claims this is untrue - then why have others said the same thing about him? He never updates the models pictures on the website unless they are his favorites. My daughter's pictures were never updated but his favs get new pics put up regularly. He charges hundreds of dollars to be ""put up"" on the website like it costs him money to throw up a picture. Other agencies do this for free. Scam. Don't get sucked into the Expo - he tries to make money off everyone that way and it is another scam. He hates email and sends back nasty rude replies. I can't imagine how he keeps any clients with his unprofessionalism. My daughter never made any money because there were no castings. but he pushed free photoshoots for her with some not so good photographers. Look at how many models are on his site - too many for him to take care of. Once they leave, he keeps their pics up because he doesn't want anyone to know how many are unhappy with him and leave. Do yourself, your son or daughter a favor and find another agency that won't lie, scam or insult you or your child. more

What a disappointment. He also tried to get my daughter to go to some Dallas convention for several thousand dollars. This was to meet casting directors and agents from other parts of the US. If you gogle ""modeling scams"" online this will tell you NOT to go with any agency that does these sorts of things. My daughter never worked....that is for $$$$. Lots of less than stellar ""photoshoots"" that were to help her build her book. Many times these ""professional"" photographers would cancel at the last minute. Most are just newbies trying to build their own book. I agree with the other review, Jake is very negative and has nothing nice to say about anyone. He has a few girls and boys that work, but the rest of the models on his site don't. Most of them aren't even modeling w wings any longer. Go look into Haymen, and several others, but don't go w Jake, you'll regret it. I cannot imagine anyone giving this agency a 5 or a 2 star for that matter. I did some investigating and cannot find a single model or parent that is happy w wings. Even if you do work you'll never get the $$$. Seriously, save yourself and your child the heartache. Go somewhere else. more

My name is andrew andIv been a model with wings model management for over 4 years now. I met with jake after sending my high school senior pictures. Very polite and straight forward. He submitted my photos to newyork. I flew to nyc and met with a few agencies that he had arranged with me to meet with. Since then, jake has set me up with agencies in MIAMI, LOS ANGELES, MILAN, HONG KONG, SINGAPORE and MALAYSIA. Wings model management has always been profeshional about making sure i recieve my payments and always making sure i recieve proper treatment when im working abroad.I have never waited longer than the standard time that all agencies take to pay the models . If you have the right look wings will do all they can and i would recommend this model agencie to anyone looking to try break into the model scene. more

Jake was such a disappointment. My daughter traveled to Europe, worked a lot, and never got paid...the check's in the mail type bs from Jake. The only job he got her in Ohio: he again never paid her for. He's a very bitter, negative man. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. He's not a good agent, not a good person. He talks out of both sides of his mouth. Exactly what you DO NOT want in an agent. I can't believe anyone would have a 5 star experience w Wings. Must be Jake writing these praises. He tried to get us to do the Dalls convention too. We were there a year and never received comp cards. Only had one casting. My daughter has been offered two contracts from NYC agencies, so it's not as if she doesn't meet the criteria. He's just not a good agent. Too many models at Wings...and what...one or two agents? He couldn't care less about how much money you spend to travel abroad...he only cares about getting his percentage. You, on the other hand, get nothing. more

My son, Dylan, just recently signed with Jake Lang at Wings Model Management. A couple of years ago I sent in some pictures of Dylan and Jake called me immediately. He mentioned that he would like to see Dylan as soon as possible. We had a face to face meeting a few days later and Jake told Dylan that he had a great look and he shot a few pictures of him. He wanted to sign Dylan. Dylan was only 14 years old at the time, and a little immature and intimidated by the whole modeling experience. We chose to hold off for a while on the modeling because Dylan was involved in football, track and here's the biggie . . . he had a girlfriend. I called Jake and told him we were going to wait a bit before signing. Jake was a little disappointed, but he understood completely. Over the span of the following 2 years I would get a phone call every few months from none other than Jake Lang. You see, Jake never gave up on Dylan. Jake Lang knows a model when he see's one. Finally a couple of months ago, I emailed Jake and told him I thought Dylan was ready to sign and I wanted to set up another face to face meeting with Jake. Dylan signed with Jake right away! Since then Dylan has been on several auditions and he just did a major shoot for Ohio's Department of Travel and Tourism advertising Zoombezi Bay Water Park located in Columbus, Ohio. Dylan had so much fun on the shoot and he enjoyed every moment of his experience. Now, looking back, I truly believe Dylan wishes he would have signed a couple of years back. Like the saying goes, ""Live and Learn!"" Here's the thing, Jake never gave up and he has done everything in a very professional manner. Jake did Dylan's photo shoot and I didn't recognize my own child after seeing some of the shots of Dylan. He looked like Mr. Hollywood! I would also like to mention, that when Dylan and I went back for our face to face meeting a couple of months ago, I took some pictures of a friend of Dylan's with me. I showed the pictures to Jake and pointed out the kid's beautiful bone structure (not that Jake didn't notice on his own because he did). Jake told me, I would like to see this kid tomorrow if possible. Guess where Dylan's friend went this past Thursday and Friday . . . . to New York City to audition for Calvin Klein. This kid was tickled to death, as was his family and I was thrilled for him as well! Jake Lang has much respect in the modeling business. He has been an agent for 13 years, has many connections and he will not encourage false hope. That is what I love about him. He is upfront, and if your child needs to improve themselves in some way, Jake will tell you. My son needed to see a dermatologist, not because his skin was bad, but he did have occasional breakouts. Off we went to see the dermatologist., and Dylan got an antibiotic to prevent those occasional breakouts. His skin is clear all the time now and he is model ready for his next assignment. If you want to be a model, have the look and want to work, you need to call Jake Lang at Wings Model Management. He is the best in the area and knows the modeling business inside out. As your agent, if you have a question or concern all you need to do is email or call Jake and he will get back to you in the same day. He never hesitates to help and if he doesn't have the answer, he will find the answer and help you. Jake is in the business because he truly loves what he does and it shows in his manner and professionalism. Jake is an extremely busy man, and sometimes his time is limited, BUT as your agent he will find time for you. After Dylan's shoot in Columbus Jake contacted me just to see how everything went. I thought that was a very nice professional touch. If Jake wasn't the best, he wouldn't have cared. But Jake Lang is the best and he DID care and that is why he called.
