Best

This yarn store is incredible. They have yarns from all the best companies, with a huge selection of colors, fibers, and weights. They have patterns organized by type of garment...

Worst

My daughter and I went to visit this shop for the first time. The wool and other merchandise is exquisite albeit quite pricey.\r We decided NEVER to set foot in this place again....

Great Yarn Store 11/9/2009

This yarn store is incredible. They have yarns from all the best companies, with a huge selection of colors, fibers, and weights. They have patterns organized by type of garment. I bought 3 patterns and 4 different yarns for projects. I easily could have bought more. Go if you are anywhere near Santa Monica. Pros: Incredibly varied selection of yarns more

best in los angeles 3/5/2009

i moved to venice from new york city, and was lucky enough to find Wild Fiber!! this store is incredible. the yarn selection is huge, they always have the needles that i need in stock, and the people who work there couldn't be friendlier. they even take the time to help you with a project if you are stuck. they have a lot of cute bags to carry your knitting in, and a ton of great patterns. i haven't taken the classes they offer, but i hear them on saturday afternoons and they seem like they are having a great time. i understand that one of their teachers is a certified master knitter! i cant say enough good things about wild fiber. definitely the best in los angeles. Pros: great staff and selection more

If it is Saturday, it must be Wildfiber. 2/23/2009

I can be found at Wildfiber every Saturday..( ok..other days as well ) It is my home away from home where I can do exactly what I enjoy most...KNIT WITH FRIENDS! \r ALSO WHERE I CAN FIND HELP IF I NEED IT, THE VERY BEST YARNS, A FABULOUS AMBIANCE IN A LARGE OPEN COMFORTABLE SPACE. \r The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The staff is technically amazing and willing to answer even the most foolish questions. \r I have knit for years. I have lived in many countries. Of all the shops.. in all places... Wildfiber is the very best! Pros: The space, the staff, the yarn more

Wildfiber is my favorite place to spend my money and my free time 2/21/2009

Wildfiber is my favorite place to spend my money and my free time. I appreciate the quantity and quality of yarns and the fabulous staff. I walked into Wildfiber less than two years ago not knowing the difference between RS and WS and now I'm working on my seventh sweater. The staff has taught me everything I know about selecting the pattern, the size, the yarn, the needle, determining gauge, following pattern lingo, trouble shooting pattern issues, remaking patterns to work, fixing mistakes. They offer classes for every skill level and the teachers are top of the line! In the past two years, I've traveled to Europe, Australia and several US states. In each city, I've made a point to check out the local yarn store. I have never been in a store that offers all that Wildfiber does. I know there are internet options for purchasing yarn but I vote to support this local business. Thank you Wildfiber!!!! Pros: quality, quantity, customer service, the feel Cons: not open seven days a week more

Rude and snoooty!!! 12/24/2008

My daughter and I went to visit this shop for the first time. The wool and other merchandise is exquisite albeit quite pricey.\r We decided NEVER to set foot in this place again. The staff love to sit on their keisters and knit, and treat the customers like an interruption. Very rude and snotty. It stunned me to see books on a display table TIED UP so that one could not open them to look inside, although the ones on the shelves could be opened.\r Nothing more to say except, if you want to have a bad experience, this is the place. Get yer yarn elsewhere. Pros: Exquisite merchandise, beautiful store. Cons: Nasty and rude staff. more

The best yarn store on the west coast 11/24/2008

Under new management I can not recommend Wildfiber highly enough. It is a wonderful place to just to browse, relax and knit a spell. The yarns are beautiful and artfully displayed. The staff is knowledgeable and always has the time to lend a helping hand. I have yet to walk out without a new project in hand. The new owner, Natasha, clearly lovers her customers and her yarn. Pros: Variety, selection, ambiance Cons: Street parking is challenging but be persistant is is worth it more

The best in the L.A. metro area 9/30/2007

The staff have always been very friendly and helpful, always willing to answer questions. They have a wonderful yarn and needle selection. This is the one yarn shop in the metro area that I go to and am willing to drive from the Palos Verde peninsula just to shop here. Wildfiber is highly recommended. Pros: great selection, friendly staff Cons: parking more

AVWild Fiber - Fiber Arts, Santa Monica 1/14/2007

I would highly recommend finding another source for fine yarns. The atmosphere was negative and extremely rude and unwelcoming. I was ignored for the 45 min. I was looking around the shop and then treated very rudely when I asked for assistance. They obviously have all the business they need or want because they surely were not interested in my business. It is a shame, because they have a nice selection, but I won't be going back to pay someone to treat me badly. Pros: Nice product line Cons: Horrible service more

Worst Yarn Shop in LA 12/30/2006

Rude, rude, rude. I would not but yarn here if it were the last place on earth to buy it. Phony, pretentious, rude store employees make this place the 10th circle of hell. If you go there, prepare yourself, by reading the book ""When mean girls grow up"". I would much prefer the anonymity of an efficient self service website from the privacy of my home to this sorry excuse for a store. Cons: Everything more

Good selection of yarn, rude service 12/3/2006

I'd have to agree with the other reviewer here who found the service at this shop to be very rude. I have been there three times, and have experienced the same rudeness on every single visit. The British store manager who passes herself off as the owner, which she is not, is the worst. The two employees attending the front counter were busy knitting and gossiping for the entire hour I was there and never once inquired to see if I needed any help. There is a fairly good selection of yarn in this store and you are left alone to explore which is better than being aggressively sold to, however, you are also left alone when you may need assistance as none is offered and when you do ask, it is grudingly provided. It is unfortunate that the owner allows rude employees to spoil the atmosphere of this shop. It is large and spacious with plenty of room for classes, project planning, exploring various yarn combinations etc., but unfortunately, your goal seems to be to want to leave as quickly as possible. Go there to find your yarn, then order it online from another supplier! Pros: Good variety of yarn Cons: Bad customer service more

Best selection of yarn in Los Angeles! 6/10/2006

I go to this store a lot. Some of the people who work here are definitely friendlier/warmer than others, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone be rude (reserved, but not rude). It's true that if you need a lot of help with a project, and you come on a busy day, you may not get all the help you feel you need (especially if you purchased your yarn somewhere else), but I do think that the sales people do a sincere job of trying to help knitters with projects when the store isn't too busy. \r \r With that said, I think that this is the best knitting store in Los Angeles, without question. The shop carries a comprehensive selection of high-end yarn -- Koigu, Colinette, Rowan, GGH, Debbie Bliss, among others, a terrific selection of books and magazines (including Rebecca), and every tool you could ever want. The shop is spacious, beautiful, and brightly lit, so you're not falling over other people in the aisles, and the price of every yarn is clearly marked. The classes are also excellent. more

Absolute snobs! 4/22/2006

I loved the store at first, bright, airy, big...but they were so snobby it just ruined the whole experience for me. I went in to spend a significant amount of money on yarn and I was treated like an intruder. Nobody even greeted me, when I asked about classes they couldn't be more indifferent and I was snapped at when I asked the price of a bag. What a shame, it's such a pretty store. They do have a good selection but not good enough to put up with being treated like that. Too many other stores in the area to put up with this nonsense. Pros: Good selection, Nice space Cons: Snobs, poor customer service, rude more

knitting made hip 7/6/2002

this store is more than just for knitters but that's what a lot of the store is dedicated to. The employees are very helpful and extremely nice. Pros: great yarn, good service Cons: bad parking, sometimes crowded more
