Best

Wow, Brew Co made some awesome changes for the new year. All the drinks are $4.50! They got a ton of new beers on tap, some with like 8% alcohol by volume and $4.50 long islands...

I used to work at the BrewCo years and years ago as a bartender. I was in town for the Jack Johnson concert and was excited to take my group to dinner and show them where I worke...

Kick back and sip a few pints 12/18/2003

Having been a Bruin in the early 90's, I am a WBC veteran (I remember it being built!). WBC has been one of my favorite places--it's laid back, not pretentious, and not too roudy--perfect for getting together with friends, have a few beers, and grab some good pub fare--fish & chips, brewery garlic bread, the ""leisure suit"", and burgers more

Unattentive service & management 12/12/2003

As always, the service was horrendous last night. We sat a long time without an order being taken. More waiting followed--our appetizer reached our table before the drinks! We had no silverware nor plates. The waiter was very unattentive & couldn't remember what table ordered what, so ours got sent to the wrong table. The uncaring, unapologetic manager spewed excuses, which didn't make my cold food warm, the waiter any better, nor my table happy. Afterwards, we were ignored for the rest of the night. His remarks while clearing our table were offensive so I told him so. He became argumentative and confrontational--and I'm a chick! We paid the full cost of our meal and swore to never return. The manager and waiter didn't seem to be bothered. Avoid WBC and go to Chili's or BJ's were your patronage is valued. Pros: location, diverse menu, atmosphere Cons: lousy service, no parking, uncaring management more

Cool, Hip Place 1/21/2003

WBC is a fun place to hang out, especially with all of the live music they offer. I've been several times to see my favorite local band: Ruptured Duck, and always enjoy myself. Last time my group ordered a bunch of appetizers: nachos (overflowing from the plate), fries, BBQ Pizza, etc. All of it was served hot and it was good. I always get the micros: tried either Red or Blonde for a quality micro. It does have a tendency to fill up during the evenings, but if you score a table early, you're set for a great night out. Pros: good parking, inexpensive, fun Cons: crowded, college aged mainly, bar food more

Mmmmm, Scottish ale 12/4/2002

Having spent almost six full years as an undergrad at UCLA, I've been to BrewCo many a time. Not as many fratrority people as other bars in the village and the microbrews are a lot better than Coors Light. The food's decent, although I don't think their eclectic menu works very well. But their happy hour is pretty good, half price appetizers, cheaper beer and well drinks. more

Good After-Work Bar 6/2/2002

If you don't mind fighting off Westwood traffic and then vying for parking, this can be a pleasant after-work spot. The atmosphere is very pub-like, and the drinks and food are good. It's a nice place to relax with friends after a long day. The food isn't half bad either. more

stereotypical brewpub 5/20/2002

Westwood Brewing Company is the archetypical brewpub. From the beers brewed on premises to the various sandwiches on the menu, this restaurant aims to satisfy thirst and hunger rather than take culinary risks. The beers are easy to drink (no standouts, but nothing I actively dislike), and the meals are hearty, with an occasional upscale twist and price hike befitting the ZIP code. (Think grilled chicken sandwich with brie and you get the picture.) On the whole, a fine choice if you find yourself in Westwood craving some solid food in a casual atmosphere. more

In the off-hours 5/19/2002

I went during the off-hours, taking a short day with some co-workers. The beer was very good, the wait staff was pretty much laid-back, and best of all the glasses didn't have any soap leftovers on them to kill the beer. Pros: beer, girls Cons: young crowd more
