What a wonderful bookstore! If you're a rabid bookworm like me, then you will love Vroman's; sadly, this is one of the last of the independent bookstores. This bookstore is huge...

Worst

The reason why Borders and Barnes and Noble are taking over is because they can handle things like shipping books. I get why people love this store: it's an independent in a sea...

Support your Independent Bookseller- easy at Vroman's 8/13/2006

Considering how many independent booksellers have had to close their doors, the thriving of Vroman's is testament to their commitment to their customers. I always visited Vroman's when visiting my parents nearby, and though I can't afford new books usually, I would find something there I couldn't live without! a great alternative to B&N or the others.. more

Huge selection, great atmosphere 12/13/2005

This bookstore is HUGE! 2 floors and pretty much anyting you are looking for, they have! The staff is really nice, and helpful. I even saw that there was a storytelling for kids when I went by the kids section. It's a great activities for your family. It's honestly very easy to navigate through the store so no time wasted for me! more

my favorite bookstore 10/22/2005

If you're ever in Pasadena and looking for some books to read, I would recommend going here over any of the chain bookstores in the area. They have a wide variety of books, and will have staff recommendations throughout the store. I have spent hours there going through all the different rows, and spent hundreds of dollars on books I'm still trying to get around to reading. I would always browse their stationary sections as well. more

Vroman's Bookstore 9/23/2005

This is a really nice bookstore. They have a pretty good selection of books, especially for an independent store. The staff is professional and courteous, and the one thing that really brought me into this store is that they have in-store appearances and signings by national authors. Their prices are competitive with the chains, so it's worth checking out. more

bookstore 9/3/2005

I am very impressed with this book store. The store is huge and they have a nice selection of books. The employees here rock, they are so helpful. I have recommended this book store to all my family and friends and they have also been pleased and very impressed with this book store. more

big indie bookstore 8/25/2005

Vroman's is a really large, barnes and noble in scale, sort of bookstore. down to the coffee shop attached to the store. it has a really nice vibe and just make me want to read. i can't explain why. there is not a ton of seating to read. i wonder why i feel that way? they have a diverse selection of books and a gigantic kids section. there are also a lot of gifts and knick knacks. it's a place where you could find a gift for anyone. more

wide sellection! 8/20/2005

A wide selection of books -- including a good sale selection just inside the front entrance (past the newspaper and magazine stand) and in the back by the cookbooks. Upstairs, there a nice selection of cards and writing paper, and a room full of children's books that also always full of kids. Another plus is the little cafe when you can curl up with a coffee or maybe some lunch and enjoy the books you just purchased. more

The Best Bookstore Ever 8/19/2005

I love this place! It is filled with books for all ages. It's full of the most current and exciting books. If you love to read you have to go to this store and just browse around. It's enjoying just being in there and to me it doesn't have that "Borders" feel. It's more relaxed and inviting. The prices are fair although we all know books can get expensive. They seem to be as well stocked as a library. I highly recommend this place! more

Who doesn't love Vroman's! 8/18/2005

You can definetly spend some time here! Besides the books, Vroman's has a great selection of cards and gifts. They have a huge children's section! You won't leave this store empty handed. And you can get lost in here for hours. There is also an ajoining coffee shop. more

Large variety, friendly 8/14/2005

Vroman's Bookstore has a very large collection of books. The staff there are very friendly and some of them know the communtiy very well. On the other hand, the pricing is slightly overpriced, if not average. Vromans doesnt have good deals very often, and cant compare to the pricing at borders or bigger stores. more

Awesome bookstore 8/12/2005

In the era of Amazon and the impersonal bookstore super-chains, Vroman’s bookstore is a Pasadena institution that will keep you coming back for both buying and browsing. In addition to an incredible array of books that is sure to satisfy any book craving you might have, Vroman’s also has a wonderful selection of gifts for all occasions and recipients. Even if you’re not in the market for a particular book, Vroman’s is a wonderful place to wander around and spend time (perhaps while waiting for your movie to start in the theater next door). During the summer they also have free music performances out on the patio. more

There's A Reason Why This Bookstore is 100+ Years 8/5/2005

A Pasadena institution for more than 100 years, Vroman's is a large independent bookstore that has something for everyone—cookbooks, gardening guides, great greeting cards, a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction, kid’s books, art books—even an excellent selection of magazines. This is the bookstore the big chains wish they could be—it’s comfortable, entices you at every corner with books and tempting related items like kitchen supplies, art objects and toys—and the clerks REALLY know their books. They also have regular book signings. more

great book store in pasadena 8/5/2005

if you like bookstores then you'll like vromans. there are not too many independent book stores left and vroman's combines the best of both worlds because it has a huge collection of books but it also boasts lots of author and celebrity signings. bill clinton and ralph nader both came here to sign their books. it's also a great place to hang out if you are looking to kill some time in the afternoon. more

Large indie bookstore with more than just books 6/18/2005

Vroman's gets the best events in the Los Angeles area since most of the major authors make a stop here. They've got a wonderful literature and fiction selection, cute little coffee bar, a delightful children's section upstairs, and separate area with specialty papers and gift wrap. They have better selections than any Borders or Barnes and Nobles in the city with an awesome magazine rack and unusual array of bargain books. The only bookstore with better bargain books in California is in San Francisco! more
