Avoid this place 7/23/2006

Went there on Saturday night - virtually no air-conditioning upstairs near the bar , musy have been 80 degrees inside -Get this - they served drinks in plastic cups...Are you kidding me ?!? And the drinks were the worst we've tasted anywhere - How do you screw up vodka and tonic so it tastes like dishwater? Would only go back if it was the last place open in Boston, and don't order anything that's not bottled beer. Ugh. Cons: Poor airconditioning, worst drinks ever tasted more

Awful experience 7/17/2006

I was so disappointed! We had reservations but the clueless hostess screwed up the tables and we had to wait an extra 45 minutes. The bar wasn't very full but we consistently couldn't get the bartender's attention. For dinner, they forgot our appetizers, kept forgetting the water we requested, brought the wrong desserts and the food was just plain disappointing. Definitely, wouldn't go back. more

Best drinks in town! 5/11/2006

Vox has the best bartenders -- they are quick and nice, and they make a delicious mojito! This is a great place to spend the night out with friends. It's classy and fun, the food is good, and the drinks are even better. Highly recommended! Pros: Great crowd, Best drinks Cons: Gets crowded more

This place was hyped up to me for weeks, so what a disapointment it was when I went in...I guess I should have known.. The staff was okay. The cocktail waitress even appologized for the higher than normal prices and the RUDE MANAGER. People could definately do better!!!! Not a boston hot spot 1/26/2006

I will admit that I have gone to Vox for the food once and althought the menu is limited the food and service are above average. But diners beware, around 9pm this restaurant turns into a night spot. This would be my area of experience. The crowd is 30+ and not a great place to meet people. The apple martinis are the best in the city, but you wait forever to get them. Its always crowded, and can be pretentious. It also closes at 1am. Pros: Food, Apple Martinis, Valet Cons: Too crowded, Older crowd, Decor more

Perfect dinner spot for Holiday shoppers! 11/28/2005

I went to VOX last weekend after Holiday shopping in Copley. VOX is so conveniently located and looked so cozy on that cold day that I couldn't pass it up! I had only been there for drinks in the past, but had a 3 course dinner this time. Best dinner that I have had...ever. I was told by my server that they have a new chef. Cheers to the new chef! The food was outstanding! The atmosphere was warm and beautiful, as was the waitstaff. After reading some of the user reviews below about unsatisfactory service, I have one thing to say: If you are prone to being rude and are inclined to treat others who are serving you in that self-important manner, I suggest that you dine at your mother's [since she might be the only one who can put up with your ridiculously unwarranted attitude]. great place for an event 11/16/2005

A group of about 40 friends made a last minute reservation for a cocktail party at his bar last night. The manager Bryan was very accomadating, telling us he would do anything we needed to make us happy. There was an event just ending when we showed up and he introduced us to the bartenders upstairs and even provided us with some food for our party. The drinks were so yummy and the bartenders ( a boy and a girl) were very friendly and seemed to be happy to be working which is always a good sign. I would def recommend this spot and will be back Pros: accomodating staff, great drinks, fun more

Worst Service In Back Bay 11/5/2005

One of the waitresses accidentally cleared one of my friend's drinks that she thought was empty. Not a big deal, these things happen. So we went to the bar to inform them of the mistake. Now at $10 for a drink you would expect a swift apology and a new drink. Not at this place though. The bartender shooed us away with his hand and said, ""Sorry there is nothing I can do."" He then preceded to ignore us. Bottom line is that we all left never to return. For the record it was the upstairs bar on Nov 11. more

Don't go to Vox 10/31/2005

We enter Vox and ask if we can sit in the front by the windows. Waiter arrives to take our drink order and he asks us if we're having food. We say no, just drinks. He then goes into a speech about how we're breaking the law by just having drinks and it's some Back Bay city ordinance that we have to be eating food in these seats and not just drinks. What? We were just told we could sit here without anyone stating that we had to have food or else we need to go eat in the back area. Not to mention that because of their Halloween party they were turning normally dressed people away. Why not have it just upstairs and leave the downstairs for paying customers who just want some drinks and appetizers? Way to make money, Vox. You certainly won't be getting mine anytime soon. busy place! 10/16/2005

I like hip places in boston, and this is one of my favorite places to visit. We went there last Wednesday night and had food and drinks. Very nicely done! It was very noisy, but so are any other bars. Drinks were VERY very good. Pros: busy scene, drinks Cons: bad parking more

Great experience! 8/22/2005

On a recent visit to Boston to visit my son, he recommended Vox. What a great experience we had! The drinks were excellent, the food was outstanding, especially liked the key lime pie and the service was wonderful! I would recommend Vox and hope to go visit again! Vox Refuses Crowd of Recent and Nearly Grads 6/27/2005

Visited Vox last night with ten other friends for a night of celebration. The female hostess there was extremely rude. Some of us had out-of-state IDs (and college IDs and credit cards-a-plenty to back it up!) She snootily commented that we always bring two forms of ID. It was the manner in which she gave the suggestion, not the content of the suggestion itself. She talked down to us, and wasn't apologetic for turning us away. Legitimate policy related reasons are understandable, but don't act like you're better than your customers. Bad aura and rudeness throughout the 20 minute ordeal, and no manager intervention to smooth things over. We left without spending a dime. I've read a couple positive reviews for lunch and dinner on CS, and Vox may be excellent for these venues, but they definitely messed up on their nearly empty Monday Night (midnight). Will not return. Pros: Makes SURE you're 21, Seating Aplenty, Better than You! Cons: Very, very, rude, Badly Managed more

Vox is a wonderful place to relax at almost any time of day. I highly recommend going here when you want a fun and centrally located place. This is a good place to take friends from out of town, even New Yorkers can have fun here. The food is good, the drinks fabulous.... you can't help but have a good time here. more

Valentine's Day 2/14/2004

Amazing! After careful consideration of many restaraunts in Boston, I decided on Vox. I was not let down. My girlfriend and I had a great time. The food was excellent, the service was professional and timely and the wine selection was impeccable. I would recommend Vox to anyone for both casual and romantic outings. Great Job!! Improving Daily 2/19/2003

Over the last several months, under the direction of GM Mike, VOX contiues to improve with service and food quality. The bar staff is a great blend of personalities that complement each other. On a busy night the dance behind the bar is alamost as enjoyable as the romantic dancing occuring with the patrons. The variety of the menu gives everyone a ""choice."" Diamond in the rough... 1/8/2003

I have been to Vox on several occasions to have a few Flirtini's and check out all the ""beautiful people"", but had never ventured in for a dinner. I attended a Christmas Party held on the second floor at Vox and was very pleasantly surprised by the ahi tuna, sirloin en croute, california rolls and other scrumptious appetizers being passed around to us by the staff. This prompted a dinner a few nights later which we ate in the upstairs dining room (another aspect of Vox that I wasn't quite aware of). I was once again happily surprised at the scallop appetizer and the filet. I think people should be giving more thought to Vox as a cool place for dinner, then venture on down to the bar and have a few martinis. (they have quite a few now). All in all, I will be back. Nice dinner atmosphere 12/9/2002

I went here for an early dinner on a Saturday - around 6:30 pm. By the time we left around 9pm the bar was getting pretty crowded, so if you want a nice dinner where you don't have to shout, make sure you go early. But the service was great and the food was really quite good. It's a trendy chic kind of place but no intimidating. Some of the reviews complain about bad service and crowds, but if you are trying to eat your dinner at 10 at night I don't know what you're thinking. If you go at a reasonable dinner hour, you should be able to enjoy a pleasant meal. Pros: Good food, Great Atmosphere Cons: Gets crowded after 9 more

i like the place, its trendy not too noisy so you cant talk, the women to men ratio is high, restaurant's not bad but i wouldnt go there on a date. basically its a great bar, the foods good but the service can be bad at times. more

Always a fun place. 9/9/2002

Every time I've been there, it's been fun. It doesn't matter if you go with a big group of friends, or just two of you... it's a good time. When I discovered they served food before 10pm, it only made things better. Not too expensive, a nice atmosphere, really good martinis and decent crowd.
