Only if you're into the whole coed spa experience... 1/19/2009

I was given a gift certificate for an 80 massage at Voda, and was STRONGLY encouraged to come over an hour early to indulge in their many saunas. I was a bit taken aback to learn that the pool, jacuzzi and saunas are all co-ed. Personally, I felt awkward as the only female around, with a bunch of large, hairy Russian men. The saunas themselves were very nice, but it was hard to relax as the only woman surrounded by men. I also found it awkward being overseen by the male workers who stand around the pool areas and watch the clients ""relax"". I was told I would be taken into a waiting room 10 minutes prior to my massage appointment, but I wound up realizing it was 5 minutes til, and finding my own way there. My massage began late, but ended promptly. The therapist was very sweet, though a bit chatty for my taste, which I found distracting but I couldn't bring myself to be rude and ask her to be quiet. After the massage I was forced to put my cold, wet bathing suit BACK ON since the thin terry cloth robes they give you are rather transparent. Immediately following my massage I was handed a bill to fill out the tip portion, which I found REALLY ODD. Certainly something that would be better handled at the front desk-- I felt bad for my massage therapist having to basically ask me to tip her as part of her routine (clearly instituted by managment). Then I wasn't sure what on earth to do with the bill since the therapist had dashed off, so a worker took it for me to the front desk. The locker room was small, and two hair brushes came apart in my hand while trying to blowdry my (tangle free) hair. The woman at the front desk said it must have been because of my long hair, but I frankly have never had a brush break in two on me before... I also found that it would have been nice to have plastic bags available for your wet bathing suit (required, since the place is coed) . Overall not my cup of tea. Pros: saunas, easy parking Cons: co-ed more

Great spa for couples! Full bar & great food! 11/18/2008

Being from out of town, we relied on the website for our Monday ""day at the spa"". We were \r pleasantly surprised and loved the entire experience. Great idea having a full bar area w/ flat\r screen TVs and a co-ed facility. How many times have you gone to the spa with your hubby\r only to say goodbye once you arrive to be secluded by gender. Super clean, great saunas/ steam\r rooms and a great massage. The food was a little slower than usual arriving, but was GREAT\r once we got it. The owners were very nice and eager to hear our input. The VIP room is really a cool\r concept- own jacuzzi, private massage room, couch and flat screen. Great room for anything from a \r bridal party to a couples birthday event. \r \r The modern fire/water/wood theme is really neat! \r \r Things to improve: Only 2 things: First would only be the water issue. Definitley need more cucumber or lemon spa water easily accessible from all sauna locations. Walking to a water fountain to fill a plastic cup\r is not appealing and does not promote all the hydrating you need to do at a spa... especially a spa\r that has so many different types of saunas. We left there very dehydrated. Pitchers of infused water\r can easily be stationed in the locker rooms, near the iced-washcloths and in all the waiting areas. \r Infuse the water then strain into pitchers or caraffes if you don't want to actually float fruit or cucumbers.\r A green tea or herbal tea area would also be nice. \r Second would be more lounge chairs by the pool. \r \r I cannot wait to come back with my husband. Very nice spa experience! Pros: Great treatments, saunas, steam room, full bar, cafe, staff, extremely CLEAN Cons: No spa water to drink or tea, not enough lounge chairs at pool more

Amazing atmosphere, best massage! 10/14/2008

I have been here a few times and have never been disapointed! The Platza is a really unique experience and I recommend it highly!! I have gotten massages from both Dani and Jen and they were amazing!! I go for deep work and I felt like I got what I needed...but you need to make sure to ask for deep tissue at the desk. Swedish here is true Swedish!! I got some kind of red tea I can't remember the name of it and it was soothing and refreshing. Very clean and new facility. Way better than Burke if you ask me! Pros: Everything is modern, original treatments from Russia, great treatments! Cons: Parking is a little weird, the parking is double in spaces so you may have to leave your key at the front. more

not so spa 9/16/2008

I am confused after reading the reviews... My experience was not so spa -I was given a gift card thank god but would not put this on my spa list. The lobby was nice and I was given attention by the front desk. As I went up stairs there was no sign of perks of spa .. tea, water, apples something .. but nothing was in sight. When I asked for water the girl said I need to ask the front desk. You would think at 150 bucks a treatment you would drink water from a glass with some sliced lemons or cucumbers. Anyway I moved on to my wrap where the room was freezing and I shivered throughout my treatment until I could get in the warm shower... Very strange experience and kind of stressful. A spa is supposed to be relaxing but this was far from. You sit on hard benches until someone greets you. It was bizarre and not for me. Burke Williams is better -- so much for trying something new very disappointing. oh... I ordered a smoothie - mango something and was brought something with blueberries and strawberries clearly not a mango in sight - filled to the brim - over flowing to be exact in a plastic cup --- nice spa if it was half the price . I guess people go for the pool and to smoke on the patio ( they kept saying I could go and smoke) not very wise if you are having a facial -- not my thing -- disappointing - i was clearly bummed more

Amazing Experience!!! 7/2/2008

I have been to Voda Spa a few times now and I try something new there every time. The facilities are impressive and impeccably clean. The service is amazing. Last time I was there, I tried a facial for a first time ever and found my stress just melted away. Overall, this place has everything you need for a day or an evening (as I prefer) of relaxation. Pros: Fantastic facilities, great hours, friendly staff Cons: Yet to find any more

Great facilities! Mal massage... 6/30/2008

The pool! The cocktails! the steam bath! But then it came to the massage and I found out that there interpretation of a swedish massage is the princess and the pea massage. I tried to ask for it harder and instead was schooled on prices names and that the apropriate time to inform my masseuse on my desired pressure level comes before she has layed a hand on my body. Cest la vie! It could be my fault.. But then I had another run in which involved her asking me to sign her--I did massage her waver-- while watching me scramble through my bag completely exposed. The massage had now lost all purpose and I am much more flustered and stressed then when I walked into the place. So i get to the desk and theres the whats wrong we love to here complaints so I start to explain that I am not one to generally apreciate paying 100 dollars for a superficial ""massage""... And it just wouldnt end. I wanted to pay leave keep my mouth shut, but OY VEY I wish this place was better. I really liked the building. Definetly get a deep tissue, I geuss voda thinks the sweeds are princess'. Pros: pool Cons: service more

The Spa! 6/27/2008

The facilities they provide amaze everyone who drops in at the spa. Exclusive services are excluding you from outside reality and penetrate deeply into your mind. Relaxation of this kind is marvellous and only a moron would resist VodaSpa! Definitely an example of the highest quality standards!\r Pros: everything! Cons: r there any? more

Voda Spa Rocks ! 6/19/2008

I have been to day spas before and let me say that they have nothing on Voda Spa. When you first walk in, you immediately get the impression that you are in a 4 star hotel lobby. Beautiful architecture, colors, ambiance all just added to the tranquil feeling.\r \r I thought I was just going for a massage, but ended up going from sauna to sauna incorporating cold and hot techniques which turned my body into melting butter. It was amazing !!\r \r After an hour or so of this, I got a fresh smoothie from the poolside juicebar, relaxed in the relaxation room room until i was retreived for my massage.\r \r Again, this was the most wonderful thing i have ever had, especially after being so relaxed from the various saunas and water pools.\r \r I would highly recommend it to anyone, even if you dont want a massage or special treatment, but you can go just for the saunas and water pools. A half day is recommended to get the full effects of all they have to offer.\r \r --- Jay more

Celebrity class spa 6/18/2008

I've been to many spa's across the country. Voda Spa is by far in the top 3. Definitely #1 in LA without question. The facility is high-class, everything is brand new and exquisite. The attendants are always at your beck and call and the steam room and saunas are perfect. The deep-tissue massage that I got was one of the best. Definitely would recommend without question. As a plus, when getting a treatment, you get full access to the whole facility, which you can literally spend 4+ hours in. Did I mention they have some of the best crab cakes?! Pros: Open late hours, plenty of parking, everything new and top class, best treatments Cons: none yet - I've been here twice so far. more

This is not a Good place... 6/9/2008

Though the women were nice who performed my friend and my spa pedicaures...the service itself was NOT worth $50. It was pitched as an hour long procedure and we were out in 30 minutes. You get more services then a basic pedicure for $22 on Melrose.\r \r The chairs were not comfortable, no music, a side room at the spa that was bright, not much massage involved, and the spa smells like food from their restuarant.\r \r It was not a good experience. Over the phone they pitch that it is a VIP type spa and it is NOT. \r \r I go to many spas and I hate complaining but this was over priced and lacked services."" Pros: Nice staff Cons: Cleintle, smell, bright lighting, over priced more

Best Gift Idea I had in last 5 years! 5/2/2008

Not sure where all the people that gave this place a bad review went. Probably somewhere else. \r My wife and I loved the experience (especially my wife). Now all I have to do for Valentine's and Mother's Day is get her a gift cert to this place and I'm done for the year. STRONGLY RECOMMEND! more

feel like a princess 4/23/2008

truly a gem!!!!\r i just got home from this voda spa, and i miss it already!! i had a wonderful russian bear massage... and then enjoyed the beautiful large spa amnities. the staff were very helpful and sweet. if you want a good relaxing day voda spa is the place to go!\r enjoy Pros: great massage, good prices, gorgeous atmosphere, very on time more

Came here recently..... 4/22/2008

I came here the other day and was very impressed with the amenities such as the Finnish Steam Room, Pool, Relaxation Room with TVs so I could watch sports. I liked how you could go up on the balcony and just chill outside as well. This is a real spa, more like a resort at a hotel or destination spa since it is a huge space. Voda Spa is probably one of best day spas in LA County and I have visited quite a few. I think there should be a different category for Voda since you can’t compare it to other Day Spa in the area in terms of space, amenities, etc. Prices are a bit more, but worth it compared to going to a little place with no other enticing features and you are only paying for a massage or facial. I always feel cheated when I go to a spa and it does not have any hydrotherapy component to it since the essence of the spa experience is the healing nature of water. more

Best massage anywhere, great service and facilities 4/12/2008

I have been going here since it has opened. I have been to many of the other spas in the LA area, but this one is by far the best. The people know you by first name, you don't get the corporate feeling like you do at other places. The place is simply beautiful and the therapists are all great. Pros: service more

Nice for a girls day at the spa 3/22/2008

I gave this spa 4 stars but with certain caveats. \r \r My friend and I wanted to do a girls day at the spa and we checked out citysearch for recommendations. We ended up choosing Voda Spa.\r \r The spa facilities - they were great! I had a great time using the dipping pools, different saunas (3 different types!) and steam room. This part of the trip was extremely enjoyable. My friend I spent a few hours doing the rotations and relaxing. The relaxation room was nice, although it had TVs in it and I thought that took away from the ambiance a bit.\r \r The treatment - I have to say, the facial I got was not worth $125 - no way. I am not sure how other treatments are at this spa, but I would not return. To be honest, it was my first facial so I'm not sure whether it's just facials in general that don't impress me, however I didn't feel it was worth it. The staff was nice and pleasant to be around, but like I said, treatments were extremely over priced in my opinion. \r \r I would give the facilities 4 1/2 stars (docking only because some areas were a bit loud and they didn't have water accessible).\r \r The treatment would get 2 stars because of the price and lack of impressiveness. \r \r The food at the restaurant and price get 5 stars - decent food with a good price (I got a greek salad and chicken panini for $8.50)\r \r Overall, I think I would pay the $50 to just use the facilities all day and skip the spa treatment services. Pros: The spa facilities were great, open very late Cons: Appointment started lated, dissatisfied with the facial - overpriced more

Big Dissappointment! 3/18/2008

OK, I went to this place 6 months ago and gave it a raving review. I now have to take it back. Upon entering I noticed there were no familiar faces and the therapist I requested was no longer there. I opted to try someone new and was not pleased at all. She was not friendly, did not listen to where my problem areas were and just did what she wanted to do. Not relaxing and the room was very cold. Sorry, Voda, you lost my vote and I won't ever be coming back again. Pros: Nice looking place, but very cold Cons: High turnover with massage therapists. Could it be the management? more

The Golden Ages of Service are Back!!! 3/4/2008

My husand and I, who are spa addicts, recently discovered voda spa, driving by. We frequent spas at least twice a week and have traveled all over the world visiting spas, and I have to say that voda spa has topped our list of favorites. The building does not reveal the wonderous architectural design when you enter. From the moment we walked in, the front desk staff were warm and inviting. They were all smiles which is hard to find nowadays. I treated myself to a facial and a chocolate pedicure (it smells incredible) while my husband relaxed with a swedish massage. The staff that performed our services were genuinely caring and highly skilled and seemed very proud to be working there as one suggested to try the ""platza"" treatment and another suggested eating the Chicken Tequila Sandwich in the cafe, (apparently he eats it every time he works)...The lady in the locker room treated me like a queen. She placed a mat before I stepped in the shower, and when she heard me coughing later on, asked if I'd like some lemon or cucumber water to help with the tickle in my throat. The Spa Director introduced herself to us which made us feel as if the spa valued our business. She, too, was genuine, and told us if there was anything we needed at all, to let her know and she would take of us. She did suggest Women's Day for me which seems tantalizing, because while I love my husband, it's nice to get together with just the girls. I highly suggest this place. It's high end with a warm feel. My husband is going to try the Four Hand massage next time! Pros: Service, Service, Service Cons: None that I could think of more

Not so ""SPA"" like at all! 2/19/2008

My husband and I recently went to Voda Spa for a couples message and it was everything but ?Spa? like. Our visit started out by the front desk attendant asking us to put some valuable into their safe?..it was mandatory that we put something belonging to us in it! Ok, now how ?SPA? like is that?! The room we had our massage in wasn?t warm at all. And they were very bare. It looked like if you turned the lights on you?d be at the doctors office. And to top it off, right after the massage therapist gave us our massages, they asked us to sign our bill!!!! In our massage room! Didn?t offer us water first or anything like that. I mean how ?SPA? like can it be when someone shoves a $400.00 bill in you face a second after your massage is done? The owners were also walking around and cleaning things. They kept looking at us?. it was creepy. I?m sure that was their own way of making sure we were have a good time but I found it very intrusive and awkward.\r The actual Place you could tell was very new and they had spend lots of money building it. But unfortunately the customer service that one would expect from a spa was not there at all.\r Pros: new place Cons: no ""SPA"" feeling more
