A good friend of mine recommend me to go to Lisa for Brazilian Wax and I must say I was very satisfied. It was my first encounter in this kind of appointment and Lisa was very patient with me and made me feel very comfortably. She provided a nice , clean calm environment with privacy. Ladies in Houston, if you are in the market for a brazilian wax (or any other kind), go to the Village spa and ask for Lisa. I promise, you'll not be disappointed. I've sent quite of few of my gal pals to her and they all love her and still go to her. I've been a faithful client of Lisa since moving back to Houston in 2007. Getting waxed anywhere can be a somewhat unnerving experience, but having a bikini wax is a different beast all together. My first waxing experience with Lisa changed all that. She was courteous, professional, and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable. I’ve been a loyal customer for 4 years now. A major difference between Lisa and some of the competition out there is that she truly understands the art of waxing. Yes that’s right I said art because it is. There are so many factors that contribute to a successful waxing experience. Your technician has to pay attention to the direction of hair growth, the type of skin you have, the coarseness of your hair and all of this determines the kind of wax that will work best for you. Lisa listens and understands that every customer is different and may require a deviation from the norm. So much of the competition out there is generic, applying the same product and technique on all their customers. Lisa is different which is why I have given her the title of Houston’s premiere wax expert. more

Lisa does a great job of catering to her customers. Her waxing is less painful than other places I've been too and she's very professional. She also uses good practices to promote sanitary removal and charges a pretty competitive price. She usually gives a complimentary discount on something that you're doing for the first time or to first-time customers. Never had her do a facial, but she offers that too. Back in Houston after a dozen years and decided to try Village La Salon. Recommended by friends and relatives. I am thrilled to have found a place that I am 100% comfortable with. As I was a year past due in managing my hair, trust me, I was a mess! I really didn't know what I wanted and Mauri was extremely friendly and spent time wanting to know what I wanted. I did not feel rushed. Mauri recommended a "fresher cut" for me and she literally transformed me! I went from looking old and haggard to (I must say modestly) looking younger and definitely had a fresher look. My color is fantastic and highlights superb!!! Relax in a nice atmosphere, enjoy a cup of coffee and check out current magazines (Many places have outdated publications). I highly recommend this place. I followed my hairdressers to Village La Salon and was very happy to meet Mauri whose shop is a very clean quiet hideout to where I can escape and give myself a treat once a month! Liz is the most talented color specialist and hair designer, and Bibi is right along beside her and can hold her own! I would never go anywhere else and the prices are right! I called up this salon because I thought they had a special for Tues and Wed. It seems like this special is only for first time visitors on their first visit ONLY. In anycase, this by no means is an affordable salon. Even with their first time customer special, the lady quoted me $30 for haircut w/ shampoo and then 25$ for blowdry!!! This comes out to $55 for what they call a 'special'. more

Mauri has been coloring and cutting my hair for over 10 years and I would not go anywhere else in Houston. The cut is always perfect and the color always lasts longer than I think it will. The salon services are also very high quality. Roxann does wonderful facials. Parking is always available in the Village across from the salon so that is not a problem. You can't get better services and the costs are very reasonable. Pros: highest quality of hair and skin care; great service at affordable costs Cons: none more

Prior to making an appointment for my sister, I called to ask what the price ranges were for a hair cut. The owner said between $50-$75- It all depends on the length of the hair. I said my sister's hair is below shoulder length. She said it will be $50. Feeling that this is a reasonable price, I went ahead and made the appointment. My sister was really upset with the haircut and said that she cut her short hair, shorter than she wanted! She was furious, gave her credit card, signed, and walked out. I was with her and felt that the owner may have charged her too much, and I was right. She charged her $60! I was furious. I called her to ask her why she did that and she made an excuse that the price depends on the style. She lied because earlier she said it depends on the lenght! Also, I got a haircut from her in April and my hair was upto my midback. She had charged me $50. Did not meet her customer's needs and lied about the price--- unacceptable! more

La Village Salon is a great place for cuts, hi-lites, and facials. I found this salon last year when I moved to Houston by looking on-line; however, I got lucky because the prices are great and so is the service. Mauri and her employees are wonderful and caring. Because I have really long hair, high-lites can get really expensive, but La Village Salon is very reasonable and I always get compliments on my hair. I find it very sad that someone in the medical field would write such an unpleasant review about such a great salon and such a caring stylist because she became ill during your hair appointment. You, of all people, should be a little more compassionate in this situation. I wish I could write a review on you as a nurse. more

There was one stylist and shortly after putting a few highlights in my hair she said she did not feel well and went to lie down. I had to wash the color out myself and leave while she snoozed on the couch and I left with orange hair more

I was really nervous going to a hair stylist that have never cut my hair (let alone try out a wild hair cut/style), but Mari had made this new experience so fun! Mari really made me comfortable right from the moment I stepped in the door. I felt bad for coming in so late but she didn't mind, she gave her 110%. Not only that my haircut accentuate my face but the hi-lights added that extra Moxie. Mari, you have a customer for life! Thank you so much! Do not get the eye brow threading. My eyebrows looked the same as when I had gone in. At one point during the threading, my eyebrow hair was getting caught in the thread and the lady threading commented that my eye brow hair was long-normally eyebrow hair is always trimmed prior to threading but not here and it wasn't really done afterwards. Stray hairs were also left. I went home and had to fix it myself. The top of one eyebrow was not shaped the same as the other as well. Don't waste your money on threading here. I was dreading finding a new stylist because I have had many botch jobs in the past. They cared about my experience and they listened to what I wanted. She was upfront about her opinion, but not pushy, and I am very pleased with what was done. My hair is not easy to work with because it has a big time mind of its own. They are experienced with curly hair and my cut looks great. Thank you very much! PS. The parking wasn't a probem either because they have spots reserved right infront of the door. (yes!) and they have DISCOUNTS that made it especially affordable. Definitely my new salon, I'm looking forward to a facial. more

I have been getting my hair cut at Village La Salon by Mari for as long as the place has been open - about 10 years! Mari manages to make my hair cut look fresh and different every time I see her. Once in a while I will opt for highlights as well and find her to be one of the best colorists I'v ever been to. When I really feel like pampering myself I will also book apointments for a pedicure and massage in addition to my haircut and come out feeling soooo good. Definitely a good experience. more

I highly recomend this salon!! I decided to take my mother on mother's day to show my appreciation. I found Village Salon and the host was so generous i called her to make a reservation and she set every thing up for my mother we both got facial and wonderful massages and seaweed wraps it was the best time we've had in a very long time!! They even had a variety of resteraunts that we could order from and had luch there!! It was very nice!! I highly recomend this salon!! **** (4 stars) more

I'm new to Houston And I found this salon in city searh.I wanted to give a try and called to make an appointment.The staff with thick accent was SOOOOOOOOOO RUDE!!!!!!!! I cound NOT believe how RUDE SHE was!!I dont recommend!!!!! more

We found this salon on citysearch and gave it a try, ignoring the negative reviews. That was our first mistake. What a terrible experience. First, I was given the worst haircut I've ever had. Despite the concerns I expressed about the length the stylist was cutting, she scolded me and then cut the bangs three inches shorter than I requested. Also, the salon is outdated and somewhat dingy. Then, we were charged more than $25 more than we were quoted on the telephone. When I called to discuss the charge with the owner/manager, she was extremely unhelpful. Although the conversation was quite civil on my end, she HUNG UP the phone in the middle of the conversation. When I called back, she screened the number and did not answer. I had to call from a different phone, and when I reached the salon, she was extremely rude and said that she did not care about my opinion as a customer as there would always be more to follow me. I've never had an experience so bad with a salon and would not recommend this salon to anyone. I hope that others learn from my experience and avoid this like the plague!
