Fabulous haircut, great service! 3/28/2011

I was recommended to Fiona Sinclair at Vidal Sassoon years ago but was always too impatient to wait when I couldn't get an appointment right away. So, I've spent the last few years either disappointed or, at best, left with mediocre haircuts. I finally did go to see Fiona and had the best experience I think I've ever had in a salon. First of all, the salon is beautiful and clean and everyone is so welcoming. There was some confusion when I first arrived because there was only one woman at the desk trying to take care of too many people, me being one of them, but she seemed to handle it. I was served coffee and barely waited before Fiona came over and introduced herself. She listened to my worries and concerns (I always have more than a few!) and made a lot of suggestions. She made me look at myself, my face, my hair, in a way I never had before. Just in talking, I felt better about my hair. I ended up with a short sexy bob that was such an improvement from the choppy layers I kept getting from other people. She also gave me ideas for other looks we can do in the future. Fiona was so focused on me and gave my hair such attention that I felt really taken care of. She's funny and I felt so comfortable, something I'm usually not in a stylist's chair. The cut is definitely more expensive than what I'm used to, but I also will get more mileage out of it. I'm not used to getting so many compliments on a haircut. I'm so glad I finally went! more

Sassified at Sassoon 7/5/2010

Let's face it: a good haircut costs money. And if you're going to spend some, visit the Sassoon salon on Boylston Street. If stylists from around world rely on Sassoon to teach them how to cut and style hair, how good do you think Sassoon's own stylists are? Tip top. Kathleen Sullivan cut and styled my hair to perfection, and with just a few slight changes in my existing style, a clean and polished version of my former self emerged. I appreciated her suggestions and could tell that her ideas would suit me and lifestyle perfectly. Thanks Kathleen for such an amazing cut! Pros: professional staff; highly trained, expert stylists more

Fantastic salon 6/24/2010

Located a mere steps from the Arlington stop on the Green line, Sassoon Salon offers its clients an upscale salon experience without the pretension. (Oh, and they're pretty crafty at hair styling, too). Greeted by a smiling hostess and seen swiftly, I listened to Renee's professional recommendations on hair coloring. Afterwards, I was treated to a tropical-smelling shampoo and conditioning treatment, while the staff waited on me to bring whatever I desired - drinks, magazines, you name it. Julie took care of my blow-out, and let me say this: if you have never gone to Sassoon, you absolutely MUST request Julie. She has been working there for 3 years, and has a bubbly, adventurous personality and will keep you entertained with her fun stories about sky diving. She leaves you looking properly trimmed and urban-chic. I left it up to her to style my hair, and she gave me a look chic enough for a black-tie event. A must-go salon! Pros: Talented staff, high-end products, clean space, location Cons: Pricey, but worth it. more

Best cut in Boston 4/24/2010

I just got an incredible head massage from assistants Danny and Liz that made my day! I've been going to Vidal Sassoon for the past 4 years for relaxers and cuts. The new location is absolutely stunning and convenient. They're steps away from the Arlington T-stop in the Back Bay, and have free wireless, coffee, tea, etc. The services are a little pricey, but (1) I once paid $75 to get a relaxer in someone's kitchen while the ""stylist"" watched soap operas, so I'd rather pay a little more to go to a salon and (2) They have a 20% student discount M-Th that makes it affordable. Also, you can get a free rinse with you relaxer, which would cost extra at a place like Olive's. If you're truly on a budget, you can skip the professional blow dry with your color service to save some cash. All of the stylists are great, but I recommend Talia (color), Edward (cut), and Tristica (cut). Book an appointment ASAP and enjoy your amazing cut! Pros: Great service & friendly stylists Cons: Price, but you get what you pay for more

Just gets better 11/15/2009

I used to go to Vidal Sassoon when it was on Newbury Street and I've been seeing Fiona for a cut and Richie for color for 12 years. The new salon on Boylston Street is even better than the old one. Fiona is an artist and a perfectionist and Richie is just a fantastic colorist. I figure I actually save money because my cuts last a long time (they just seem to grow out incredibly well). For me, the only tough thing about going to these two, is that I have to make sure I book my appointments ahead of time because they seem to get busy. Vidal Sassoon has never dissapointed. Pros: Excellent work, top notch service Cons: a little pricey but well worth it more
