There were 9 people in our party that ate w/Victory Tavern yesterday and the food was GREAT as was the service-will be making reservations for Mother's Day and bringing additional people- the Bloody Mary's were superb. Our party of four had a reservation for 6pm, which we showed-up on time and were promptly seated. Our waiter asked if we were coming or going to the concert at the AAC. We told him we were going to the concert and it started at 8pm. He said not a problem we will get you in and out. We said ""great"".\r He then left without taking our drink order and said he would be right back. He claimed that he and another wait staff person were the only two waiters working the entire 2nd level. So, if you need me please flag me down. But we will definitely get you out of here in time for the show. \r \r I could go on and on about how we were ignored and bypassed by other guests that were seated well after us, but it?s not worth your time.\r \r Here's what you need to know: We arrived at 6:00pm and left just before 8:00pm. We had two rounds of drinks (3-Martinis - Way too dirty and 1 glass of wine - SHORT POURED) three Spinach Salads and one Portabella Mushroom Appetizer. \r \r The manager came to the table at thirty minutes to eight and he told us that the Kitchen was under staffed and slammed. He then said, but we will have your food right out. Our cocktail glasses had been empty for over twenty minutes and he doesn't bother to ask if we needed anything else to drink. A real Restaurant Manager would have asked if we needed drinks and would have offered them complimentary. Not him, he acted as though we were the problem.\r \r Needless to say, we left ten minutes before show time without having entrees and without seeing our waiter or the manager. Apparently they were hiding from other irate dinner guests.\r \r Say what you want about the over priced food at the AAC, but at least when you order an $11 Pizza, you actually get it!!!!\r \r Save your time and your money, Gordon Ramsey would have trouble saving this Kitchen Nightmare! \r Pros: Water Glasses were kept full. Ventured into Victory Tavern looking for an interesting happy hour experience. After reading reviews on various websites, our party of two set out for what VT calls 5 after 5. Basically it's appetizers (although not all) and well drinks for $5 from 5pm until 7pm. Well, actually wells are $4 according to the bartender/waitress. We enjoyed very good (not great) cosmopolitans and tried a couple of different items of the $5 appetizer choices. First, we had the calamari and rock shrimp. Both were breaded in a bland batter and the calamari should have been cooked a little longer. The shrimp were improved slightly by the dipping sauce, but the chewiness of the calamari was difficult to overlook. After ordering a second round of drinks, we opted for the portabello mushroom fries with goat cheese crema and buttermilk dressing. These were so greasy, overcooked, and flavorless one had question who was in the kitchen. Needless to say, we weren't foofish enough to stay for dinner. For a bar/restaurant in a terrific location, Victory Tavern doesn't live up to minimal expectations. If you find yourself in Victory Park - stop in for a drink and forget the food. I recently went to Victory Tavern before a game at the AAC. I have wanted to try Victory for quite a while because of the obviouse; the location and the atmosphere. As it turns out those are the reasons to go, and not much more. Victory Tavern is a beautiful modern restaurant / bar. You walk in from the middle of the buzzing Victory Park and are greeted with smiling faces. The dining room and bar are dimly lit with unique chandeliers and with a soundtrack of popular music at a cocktail party volume. The guest is given a good variety of appetizers and entrees with a lack of selection in their salads and soups. The calamari with rock shrimp was very good as was the chocolate mousse dessert. The entrees were rather blah. I ordered the chicken scallopini with artichokes and vegetables. Well, this was anything but that. It was two chicken breasts grilled on a large bed of canned artichoke hearts. The chef should consult his Larousse Gastronomique for instruction. My girlfriend ordered the seabass which was slightly overcooked with, brown green beans and a less than impressive squash puree. However, the bar ended up being a great place to begin the game. My boyfriend and I came here the first time we had Stars tickets and wanted to eat before the game. It's now tradition. They use Open Table for reservations which is necessary if you don't want to wait for 40min on game nights. The atmosphere is upscale tavern (is there such a thing?) but it's definitley a place you can wear your Stars jersey and not feel like you're underdressed. We always request Mauri to wait on us because well, if you go more than twice, he remembers you and your orders. We've had a few other servers there but just not as good as Mauri. The wine list is impressive and reasonably priced. I'm a Shiner Bock girl and they have that on tap. The menu is diverse but I rarely order from it. They have nightly specials which are outstanding. Last night my boyfriend ordered Sea Bass on a green bean stack with butternut squash puree. It was like butta. The fish was firm and cooked to perfection. I ordered the other special; cod fillet with risotto in a white cheese sauce with asparagus and button mushrooms. I don't normally like cod but I ate every bite. It was light and flakey and the flavor was impeccable. Exec Chef Shawn Alvarez came out and chatted us and some other tables up about dessert. We had the banana pudding tart. It was amazing; crushed walnut and 'nilla wafer crust lined with banana slices, filled with vanilla pudding, topped with a generous amt of whipped cream and carmelized banana slices. Try it, try it, try it! It does get noisy in this place; especially on game nights but if you want it quiet, come when nothing's going on at the AAC or go after the game has started. Had to walk in the rain because the valet were waiting under their umbrella, armed with additional umbrellas, but just lazy I suppose. Had to pay them $5 to ""valet"" ten feet down the street, then they made me get a stamp from my waiter after I had come out to pick up the car as to not be charged $10.\r \r Food was over priced, mediocre at best. Complained to waiter, who really didn't want to hear it.\r \r $70 bill for 3 beers ($5 Miller Lite bottle) an appet. a burger and fish & chips. Not worth it at all, better off going to Trulucks or Houstons or something. This was only a Monday night, there to watch the Cowboys v. We experienced Victory Tavern for the first time on a Tuesday evening as a birthday celebration dinner for three people. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and decor, and the staff were courteous. However, the food service needs major improvement. The bread was served still partially frozen. The roasted sweet corn soup, although very tasty, was not served warm enough and to me this is a major criterion for soup. We ordered the pork chop, fettuccini and scallops as our entrees. The scallop dinner was served and eaten before the other two dinners were delivered to the table. The fettuccini was relatively good but again served barely luke warm. I am a huge fan of asparagus, so ordered the ""jumbo asparagus"" side dish which consisted of 3 spears that were smaller than the size of a pencil. With all the competition in the Dallas metroplex, Victory Tavern is going to really step up to the plate in order to be successful. more

This is a tavern but with white table cloths and a classy atmosphere. Kind of a Houstons type restaraunt with a little more style. Good place before heading to AA Center or the House of Bluse. We had a party of 10 on Saturday night and everyone was very pleased with the food , atmosphere and service. It was a slow night with nothing going on at the AA Center so we had lots of attention from the staff. . Our table was ready when we asked and the waiter was very attentive and eager to make sure our experience was great. The menu offers a great selection from sandwiches to prime rib. The wine list is large but suprising for a tavern the beer list is somewhat small. We ordered each of the apps and all were good. I would pass on the chips with feta cheese , not much to them other than greesy chips. The calamari and quesadillas were great though. I had the baby back ribs and they were incredible. My date had the Fliet and my buddy had the prime rib. Both of them were very happy with the food.\r The one thing I did notice was that the manager (I think) kept looking at the people in my party to see how we were dressed. Maybe I was imagining it but it seemed he had his nose up in the air a little. Hopefully they dont take on a W Hotel attitude here because this could be a very sucessful restaraunt and after all it is a tavern. Take your date or your buds and give them a try!
