Best

Excellent care! Everyone was so caring and concerned for my dog. My dog is so much better and I love this place!

Worst

This place is a zoo. I never get the same doctor twice, the doctors come and go. (I wonder why?)\r These people are test happy and run up my bill like the national debt. It is...

I'll never go back again 4/18/2007

I took my two cats to this vet for over three years. I would not recommend it. In fact, looking back, I regret it. All the vets I encountered there would never give me a choice of care, they made the decisions for me and I wouldn't find out how much it cost me until I got to the counter. I lost a lot, a lot of money that way.\r Additionally, the vets refused to refill prescriptions unless I brought the cat back in, "holding it over my head" as if I didn't care about my pets! Each time it cost more and more money. I don't mind spending money on my cats, but the arrogance of these vets is amazing. Finally I stood up for myself and left. more

Dr Dann is ok but.... 1/17/2007

I have seen Dr Dann at Blum several times. He is very clinical and monotone. I can't tell if he is really passionate about what he is doing. Plus, it seems like a factory in there. I always have to wait at least 25 to 30 minutes, and this drives me insane. With all of the vets there, can't someone do something with scheduling an appointment on time. I feel like they push treatments on me and because my healthy puppy was a little under weight, they were ready to do some kind of work up panel. And for all of the waiting I do to get in, I feel like I get the bum's rush. I don't like that feeling when I am paying through the nose for an ""expert."" I haven't gone to anyone there but Dann, so I can't speak of the other doctors. He seems snobby and burnt out to me. They try and sell food my dog doesn't need, they treat me as if I am uneducated and I always felt like I was talked down to. Overall, I can not such too much about this guy I like, except I guess he knows what he is doing, since he is an older doctor. He needs to be more personable, that is for sure. I think I am going to start going to Family Pet, because that is where my friends go, who care if it means taking a little more time to get there. more

too many cooks in the kitchen 1/16/2007

This place is a zoo. I never get the same doctor twice, the doctors come and go. (I wonder why?)\r These people are test happy and run up my bill like the national debt. It is clean, I will say that.\r But if cleanliness is next to Godliness, then, bravo for them. I would rather go to a number of other vet's I have checked out in the meantime, and they are clean too. My cats did not like the vets, but I guess most cats don't. I guess what I am trying to say is, for the price, I would like to see the same doctor, not to be treated rudely by eye rolling people behind the desk. I think this place used to be something, during its heyday, according to the friend who recommended it to me, but I think this place is like the Titanic and sinking fast. Not very impressed with the hoopla. This place is clearly resting on its laurals. Pros: convient to my home, walking distance Cons: prices and staff more

Best Vet Bet 5/17/2006

Dr. Rubin is knowledgeable, straightforward, and caring. And, he has a sense of humor, too. All the Blum doctors and staff understand my pets are part of my family, and they are friendly and respectful. Few pets like to go to the vet, but Blum makes it as easy as possible. They will even answer questions by phone--like what to do when your cat swallows dental floss. I am very pleased with the veterinary care provided. Pros: Quality Care, "Bedside" manner, Service more

The staff at blum are always happy to see you and your pet. I swear the people are so passionate about preventative care for your animal. They will even call you if you miss your annual checkup. more

blum animal hospital 8/2/2005

I use to take my old dobie to them as i lived in that area at the time. the staff is wonderful with animals and talks to them and treats them like "little people". and they always have treats on hand to give your pet to help calm there nerves.i've taken my dog there for years and always got #1 service. there facilty is very clean and they get to you promptly and take care of your animal in a great way. the only downfall is that it can be hard to find parking on the street, but they do have a paid parking lot located right next door to them. there prices are a little higher than other vets, but you definently get great service for your money. more

I love Blum 3/9/2005

I started visiting Blum when I got my first puppy. They are a wonderful animal hospital. There are several vets there, and in an urgent situation they are always able to get me in right away. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the vets are all great, and I totally trust them with the care of my dogs. The hospital itself is clean and modern - not one of those dingy, wood-paneled vet offices. Blum is a favorite among a lot of Chicago residents, and I highly recommend them. more
