If You Judge A Resturant By It's Food 3/27/2009

If you judge a resturant by it's food - this one is 5 stars - one of the best, most interesting, most flavorful resturants in Southern California. If you judge a resturant by it's decor and/or the who's who of So. Cali (i.e., which lame stars you might see there) this is not the place for you! Great staff, fun environment & great food for the kind of person who loves to eat great food & enjoy it with their loved ones! Fun! Great deal! Pros: My Favorite Resturant In Los Angeles, CA Cons: It isn't fancy, but it is fabulous more

Authentic Uzbek food, 7/4/2007

I absolutely love the food here. This restaurant knows how to provide classic Uzbek dishes at the right price. I always get the all you can eat course. I would recommend to go easy on the wonderful bread. The best is always safed for last which are the lamb skewers. The best tasting lamb I have ever had was at this restaurant. Trust me I have gone to New Zealand (the land of sheeps) and I have never had any lamb that tasted better than at this restaurant. Also the band is absoluately amazing. The Tomato salad with the chopped onions is incredible as they also throw in some Jalapenoes. more

One of a kind 12/29/2005

Eclectic is truly the word for this place. But don't let that obscure the fact that the food really is great, and a great value. But more so the ambience is excellent. It's the kind of place where you sit back with friends, have some plov, blini and vodka and don't leave until at least a few hours later. more

Okay 1/25/2003

At first, I was skeptical about this restaurant because it's in a tiny strip mall on Sunset Blvd. Plus it was quite empty on Friday night. Once I sat down, looked around the decoration, tasted the food...I said to myself, this is an alright restaurant, especially if you like to eat lamb. From the decoration, it's pretty traditional european/russian style, but it's a very warm and family feeling. I tried one of the lamb dishes, it's decent. The waiter is friendly. Overall, I recommend it if you're interested in Russian food, although Uzbekistan has blended its dishes more for American tastes. Pros: Parking Lot, Fair price more

A real treat! 9/28/2002

Uzbekistan typifies what we love about LA. Beyond the strip mall exterior lies a beautifully and elaborately decorated dining area, which also offers patio seating and live music with a quirky charm all its own. The young staff, while inexperienced, is nonetheless friendly and eager to please. Since this was our first time here, we decided to try the all-you-can-eat dinner feast, which promised unlimited portions of a good many of their more exotic dishes. This proved to be a great choice, as we enjoyed everything they brought to our table. We particularly loved the soups (shurpa and lagman), plov (Uzbeky rice pilaf with tender chunks of lamb), and the most perfectly prepared chicken kebabs that either of us has ever eaten. These literally were like mana from heaven, so incredibly juicy and tender and flavorful it was hard to believe they were even cooked! This is a great restaurant! Pros: ambiance, parking, food more
