University Village Shoe Repair

I really should have checked this site before going here. The guy is rather abrupt and not very good with customers. His work was ok, but expensive - sole replacement and bottom replacement cost me $50 plus tax. I had a pair of shoes I was going to toss that he tried to convince me to fix. I told him the cost of fixing it were more than the shoes themselves. He kept trying to argue with me and push me to fix the shoes, and I was like look, go to the outlet mall and you'll see that these shoes only cost like $40. DO NOT GO HERE!! I took my shoes here three times to get repaired because it was fast and in a convienant location, and all three times the shoes broke again the very next time I wore them! We are not talking difficult repairs either! A heel replacement and a strap on a flip flop are pretty basic. I would at least expect them to last a little longer than that. Not only do I have to get them ALL repaired again, but it was a huge waste of time and money. This place is horrible! more

I went to this shop because it was handy to some other errands I was running. I had four pairs of shoes that needed to be re-tapped, and one broken heel. The man at the counter was nice enough, but rather pushy and wouldn't take no for an answer when I said all I wanted was to have the taps replaced and the one heel fixed. ""No no, you need to put new bottoms on this shoe"" and ""What's that? Another pair? Let me see, let me see"". I told him that last pair was for donating and that they were uncomfortable. ""No, no- I will fix, they will be comfortable."" I gave in because he was so aggressive and figured if it meant spening an extra few bucks, what the heck. Maybe the shoes would be more comfortable. But when I came back he had done all this extra stuff to my shoes and the bill was $120!!!!! There was nothing I could do at that point but I felt totally used and cheated. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place unless you are very good at saying ""no"" and being specific about what you want done. Cons: Pushy, Dishonest, Costly more
