Editorial review from Citysearch 1/25/2014

The absolute worst dry cleaners I've EVER been too! They ruined my brand new White House black market shirt and the owner could careless. No refund. Nothing. I will NEVER go back there. He actually said who cares it's just a shirt. So unprofessional!!! more

Steppin up their game it seems.. 11/12/2010

This afternoon (Friday) I realized that I had an important date tomorrow with a wonderful lady. This put me in a bit of a bind because I had already picked out an outfit that would maximize my swagger. The only problem was that I needed to get the shirt and my fitted hat cleaned, so I stopped off at University Palms Dry Cleaners (in the Alafaya publix plaza next to UCF). I walked in and spoke with the owner. Already apprehensive about the place due some of the salty reviews others had given it on the page, I explained what the situation was and at first he told me that the earliest it could be done was Monday. This, being unacceptable of course, wouldn't work so I thanked him for his time and turned to exit. Suddenly, as if the owner knew his citysearch rep would be held true by another, he stopped me and took my entire outfit, cleaned it, and it was FREE OF CHARGE!! I don't know if this guy was just ruthless in 08' & 09' but he has seemed to turn a new leaf and really be killin' the cleaning game now. Hopefully this wasn't a fluke one time coincidental encounter, because it's nice to know you have a raw cleaners near by that has your back when you need them. 5 stars! more

Perfect fix for a big tear in my dress pants 10/15/2010

I made a giant hole in my nice dress pants by quickly squatting by the pool to save my one year old daughter from falling in. I saved her but ripped a big hole in the butt of my pants. I brought in my pants to be repaired and now they look brand new. I'm very satisfied with the work and will definitely visit again. more

An Awesome Experience. Unlike the others... 8/19/2010

I did not read these reviews before I experienced the work of University Palms Dry Cleaners, but I had a total opposite experience. I had my wedding dress dry cleaned from the shop and to tell you the truth...the dress was DIRTY. I had a beautiful photo shoot in my pool and the dress was soaked and kinda smelled from sitting in my car. Also the dress was very detailed in the bodice area with beads and sequence, so it was very delicate. But I got the dress back super CLEAN and as white as it was when I bought it. The delicate body was taken care of without any disturbance and the dress was pressed to perfection. They even repaired a slight rip that I didn't notice FREE OF CHARGE! (but I think they do the alterations at another sister cleaners that is run by the same owners) I took some other clothes there after my dress was cleaned and I had no problem at all with any of the work. Dry Cleaning is a service job and a lot of people don't know real service. But UP Dry Cleaners knows what they are doing. I say give them a try, you won't regret it! more

STAY AWAY!!! 3/12/2009

Stay away from this dry cleaners! Unfortunately, I read these other reviews after I had already dropped off my clothes. They completely ruined an expensive sweater that was meant to be fitted but when I got it back it was so stretched out that the knit on the sweater was so far apart you could see through the holes! It looks horrible now and I won't be able to wear it again. I also brought them a nice scarf that had a hot chocolate stain on it and when I got it back the stain was still there. The whole point of bringing your clothes to a dry cleaner is so that they won't get ruined in the wash. Well, you are better off washing your dry clean only clothes than bringing them to this dry cleaner! Stay away, stay far, far away! Cons: They ruin clothes! more

You dont deserve a second chance!!! 2/23/2009

I guess my experience with University Palms Dry Cleaners started off OK, considering I just took them a few dress shirts the first time. How hard could that be. The second time around I trusted them with a little more expensive clothing. I'm sure everyone knows Ed Hardy clothes dont come cheap. When I went to pick up my two Ed Hardy shirts the neck lines were ridiculously stretched. not sure what machine they use to dry clean t shirts but it ruined my shirts. I was not able to speak to the owner because he was not there at the time and when I returned the next day with the t shirts still the way they were given to me, he simply said there was nothing wrong with them in his opinion and refused to refund me any money. I also discovered later after getting back home that one of them (green in color) had an odd stain on the back. You could easily tell that it was stained and then covered up with some green paint or pen (totally differnent shade from color of shirt). I did not even waste my breathe or consider going back to argue again. Let me be specific as to the location: In the Publix shopping center at the corner of Alafaya and McCulloch Rd. DO NOT ENTER!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Cons: ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF more

Beware 8/2/2008

I had a bad experience with Univeristy Palm as well. I took some pants and blouses to get dry cleaned and when I went to pick them up, I was missing a blouse and a pair of white dress pants had a stain on them that was was not there when I droppped them off. When I showed the stain to the owner of the store, he told me that the stain was there when I dropped them off and they were unable to remove it, that is why the stain was still on the pants. I just wanted my clothes washed and pressed. The shirt that was lost, he denied as well. I agree, the owner is very dishonest business and I will never go there agin. I'm new to Oviedo, and the dry cleaners is next to UCF where I live and go to school. I hate to hear someone else had an awful experience as well. I was not refunded any money for the service because he claims he was not at fault. more

Awful Alteration Shop 7/26/2008

I purchased a brand new pair of pants with a 2 1/2 inch cuff on them. The alteration shop that I normally go was closed due to vacation, but I had to have my pants hemmed. So I thought I would try University Palms because they were on my way home. When I took my pants in, the owner measured me and put a note on my ticket ""cuff"", which is $2 extra. When I picked them up, I didn't check them, but when I went to put them one morning, there was no cuff at all. I went back to them that PM and expressed my dissatisfaction. The owner said that he would fix them and I was concerned how he could fix them when there was only a small hem left. I took them back the next day after I washed them. The owner wasn't there, but I asked the clerk what if I did not like the way they looked..he said that they would probably reimburse me, but I would have to talk to the owner. So, I went to pick them up and I was very unhappy with how they turned out. I bought a pair of pants with a 2 1/2 inch cuff. This is why I bought them, because I liked the way they looked. When I told the owner that I was unhappy, he asked me. Why, they have cuff, that's what you wanted?"" I told him that this is not what I paid $35 for. So, in a huffy manner, he asked me if I by giving me my money back for the pants make me happy, I said yes, it would. Thinking he meant to reimburse me for the pants. When he asked me how much I paid, I asked him ""For the pants""?"" He clearly told me that he will not pay for my pants, he would only give me $12 back. He told me that it would be unfair since I could still wear my pants. That's not the point, they messed up my pants and there is no way I could get them back their orginal state..they messed them up. I feel that the owner should be profeesional and admit that he made a mistake and reimburse for my pants so I can go purchase another pair just like I orgianally took him the first time. Very Unprofessional and I would not recommend this shop to anyone. more
