I was refered to United Marine Underwriters by my dad. He has been insured with United Marine for serveral years. He told me that when the marina had a fire and his boat was damaged, they were great to work with. I got three quotes online and found United Marine's to be the easiest. Based on my dad's and my experience I recommend them. Happy Boating more

I called to renew my boat insurance today, just like I have every year for the last five years. I talked to Heidi and she was great. Personally, my wife and I have been real lucky and not have had any claims BUT I do know a buddy of mine that has. He is with United, too and had no problems with his claims. I have never heard of anyone having any trouble. My wife found them on facebook, too and by the looks of all those comments people were leaving, they have a lot more happy customers than just us. We even clicked on the LIKE on their page. We are going to stay with United and I am sure my friends will, too. I am thinking of getting a bigger boat next year and you can bet I will STILL be calling United. Thanks Heidi and everyone at United, great people and great service. CM more

No problems for 2nd generation customer 2/24/2012

I am a 2nd generation customer of United, my folks used them when I was young and my husband and I use them now. I have never had anything but helpful service, and they do just what they say they are going to do. Last summer we had a claim, my husband called United and he was pleased with the service and the resolution. We have no reason to look elsewhere. more

I'm Impressed 1/17/2012

I want to think Kathy and the staff of United Marine Underwriters. We purchased our boat and while towing it home we were involved in an accident. The boat never made it to our home but United Marine Underwriters took care of everything and the next week we had our replacement boat. Great job United Marine Underwriters. Thank you. more

Great Service 1/3/2012

I have had several boats insured with United Marine Underwriters over the years and when I suffered a loss to my boat United Marine Underwriters was top notch. Easy to report the claim and was paid in a matter of days. I would recommend them to all boaters. more

Worst Insurance Ever!!! 1/11/2011

I have been using them for years and have never had a problem... Until I made a claim. \r \r Claim made in March/April of 2010. It's January, 2011 and it remains unresolved as my boat sits at the repair center collecting storage fees! \r \r Spoke with the president of the company (since we are 10 months in with nothing done) and he said he would personally look into it. \r \r Suddenly the claim rep starts returning our calls but during the last conversation, rep says the claim is denied. Then in the same breathe says an offer of $1,600 is ""on the table"". So is it denied or is it not denied? \r \r In any event, the estimate to repair is over $5,000!\r \r They have no problem cashing your premium checks however they have a HUGE problem honoring claims. \r \r Now, our claim rep hangs up on us when we call. Now we have to get lawyers involved.\r \r (I only gave them 1 star because that was the minimum. I would give them negative if I could.)\r \r BUYER BEWARE!!!\r more

they dont pay when you have a claim, they turn it into not covered!!! warning, warning!! 10/28/2008

we had our jet ski covered, it sunk and they didn't cover it. they said it was overheated. but it overheated because it sunk and it had sand in it. they took three months to go over everything dragging it out, saying their computer was down, etc. finally not covering what we were paying for. then when i asked for a refund of the premium because it never ran this season they informed me that i would be penalized because we were canceling the coverage. be warned! they take your money but don't pay on a claim! Cons: they will go above and beyond to NOT pay your claim more
