Best

I've seen Beck at Benaroya, but nothing compared to Jose Gonzalez and Jake Shimabukura at the Triple Door. It's too bad someone like Neil Young doesn't do a show at a place like ...

Worst

The venue itself is nice but food is terrible. My shrimp tasted like rubber band. I paid $16 for my rubber band dinner. If anyone wants to go their to enjoy shows, I would sugge...

Good food, good music 5/27/2011

Good food catered by the same kitchen as wild ginger. Nice seating. Got interesting artists coming through. Plenty of street parkings, or parking garages. more

Great Venue, unusual food 2/3/2007

I've always enjoyed coming to The Triple Door. It's an intimate venue that used to be a burlesque theater. The service is great and has a very attentive wait staff! I have a few issues, however. To say that this place is cozy is an understatement. What would normally be considered a two person table is set for four. This can be uncomfortable for persons of larger than average girth I'm sorry to say. So do arrive early as it is first come first serve seating. The food as a rule is not elegantly presented, it either fills the plate to overflowing or it is just piled in one spot with little care. Our meal this most recent evening included appetizers, entrées and dessert. We ordered crab cakes and lamb kabobs to start. The crab cakes were delicious, not the usual Dungeness overpowered by bell pepper, but delicate and tasty. The lamb kabobs were juicy, but placed in a pile with a cucumber relish off to one side, not at all delightful in presentation, but recommended for flavor. Yum! The entrées were puzzling. The duck plate was filled to overflowing with doughy buns like those found in Korean dishes, a sparse amount of lettuce, duck, rice and an orange dipping sauce. It seemed a bit overwhelming. The "phoenix and dragon" seemed to be the opposite. Though the plate was hot the two small scallops were lukewarm, the shrimp were not sparse, but the mixture of these and the above average peanut sauce were just dolloped on the plate. There was a tiny tomatillo divided by four and some inedible bamboo. This was accompanied by four small unsweetened pancakes. Apparently vegetables are negligible at The Triple Door. I found it odd that the duck came with rice and buns, but the scallops and shrimp came with these dinky pancakes. Pancakes must be popular with the chef because they come with many of the entrées. For dessert we had the Berry Cobbler and the Molten Lava Chocolate Cake. The cobbler went down so fast that I didn't get a chance to sneak a taste. The chocolate cake itself tasted more like flour than chocolate. There were supposed to be additional flavors of wasabi and ginger, but these were indiscernible. The lava part was interesting, but forgettable. However the pistachio ice cream and the raspberry sauce were quite yummy. I could have gone with just the ice cream and been satisfied if this had been an option. This was my third or fourth visit to The Triple Door and I recall seeing many of the entrées before. There doesn't seem to be much of a change up and I'm not quite sure what they have against vegetables with their entrées. I do recall that there were some vegetarian dishes however. Please do come and enjoy the show. The performers are varied and you're sure to have fun. Don't be afraid of the menu, but if you are a frequent visitor you may become bored with the selections. My rating is a 3 more for the food, the entertainment rates much higher say a 4.5. more

An incredibly place to see a performance. 1/11/2007

I saw a brilliant show at the Triple Door (Showgirls, narrated by David Schmader), but this review isn't about the show, it's about the Triple Door. To start the food is prepared by Wild Ginger - enough said. As opposed to the classic theater layout, the Triple Door is really a collection of booths in a theater. Just about every booth is comfortable spacious and has a great view of the stage. The staff are very friendly and do a great job not being noticed during the shows. Overall, a great place and a ton of fun. more

Cool Place! 5/4/2006

The Triple Door is an amazing venue to take in a show - but as an added bonus, they serve lunch to the business crowd on weekdays. The menu is like a little sister to Wild Ginger, which is just up the hill (and they provide the wun tun mein.) I've had the Pad Thai here and it's very yummy - nicely spicy and full of prawns, tofu, peanuts and noodles. more

Great Venue, Great Event! 4/28/2006

I went to see "Showgirls" with commentary by David Schmader. In case you haven't seen it, this may be the worst movie of all time. There are such gems in the dialogue as: "I've had dog food. Doggie Chow. I love Doggie Chow too!" When you combine this with sarcastic, hilarious commentary, a great venue and excellent food, what you have is the perfect evening out. A killer dirty martini doesn't hurt either. I was crying with laughter hours later...I can't wait to go to this event again. more

A fun place to catch a show 3/28/2006

This is a great place to watch a concert. It is set up like a Vegas lounge with big booths for you to sit at. The Triple Door is connected to the Wild Ginger and you can order dinner, drinks and dessert from your server while you watch the show. Though the food at the Wild Ginger is not fantastic, it is fun to eat while you enjoy a live band. Beware, the drinks are expensive and can add up if you aren’t careful! more

Great Night out in Seattle 3/22/2006

For music afficionados and casual music fans, the triple door delivers. I recently visited the venue for the second time and would recommend it for a great night out in Seattle. The Triple Door is a unique music venue catered by Wild Ginger (the quintessential Seattle restaurant). In the main area of the venue, you can order drinks or food all throughout the show. This go round we reserved a private suite which was about $500 for 6 people including appetizers, entrees, several desserts and several bottles of wine. The fee also included the use of the room, and of course the show. Even if the music wasn't entertaining (which it was-Gomez), we would have had a great time in the privacy of our area with a server that you could request by the push of a button. If you're looking for a night out on the town in Seattle with friends or family, you should consider the Triple Door. more

The Tripledoor 3/9/2006

This is a great music venue for parties of four - six, max. If you want to sit together, as we did with a party of eight, they stick you in the back at a long table where we could not look at each other! If you have a large group, better to be split up in to two groups in the rounded booths. We saw Marcia Ball who is awesome! Other than that, I will know better for next time. The acoustics are great, and the theater is beautiful. more

Great Vibe, Great Space, Great Music 2/24/2006

If you haven't been to The Triple Door you have missed out on one of Seattle's coolest spaces with one of its best vibes. The Triple Door is next to and below Wild Ginger. When you walk by you don't think it's a big space with good acoustics. But walk in and head downstairs, and arrive in a space that is designed for listening to music. It's not a big open floor for dancing, but a lounge arranged such that you can sit, enjoy a drink and/or food, and watch and hear the musicians on the stage. There's also a more traditional lounge/bar that serves food and drink, including lunch. The food is pretty good. Drink is..well...drink. Their web site includes the concert schedule and ticket prices. Most shows tend towards jazz, with big and small names. Check it out. more

Four out of Five Senses Satisfied... 12/30/2005

We've done many concerts here and I always want to go back. I'd like to live there in fact. If you can afford a night out on the town... this is the place to go for dinner and a show. Sight: THE most beautiful venue of it's size north of San Francisco. Decor, lighting, stage, booths...it's got it all. Sound: Multi-million dollar sound system and hardly a dead spot in the whole room. Geared more towards mellow shows, so if you are there for a rockin' band you can expect a little less quality on the mix. Taste: Menu is inspired by the widely acclaimed Wild Ginger upstairs. Same head chef, though the Triple Door has their own pastry chef (desserts are amazing). I would stay away from the Pad Thai unless you are trying to skimp. 7-flavor beef is very good, roti bread is a must, and the salmon...it's always impressed me, but then again i wasn't paying $25 for it. helpings are fairly small, so boost your meal with the $1 roti bread. Touch: Leather booths are very nice. Opt for a booth in the middle if you can, so get there early to eat before the show. Smell: Well...it doesn't smell bad, so they sort of get this one. Bathrooms are very fancy and always very clean. *There's also the Musiquarium bar upstairs as you enter that often has good music and never has a cover. *Triple Door main hall is ALL-AGES w/ full bar & food menu, the bar is 21+ but you can order food up there as well. *Staff here varies, but has improved greatly over the years. If it's a busy show expect relatively slow service... but you probably won't care. Don't go here to get tipsy, go here for the classy experience. more

Great Food and Entertainment! 11/29/2005

The Triple Door is a great venue for entertainment. They have a wide variety of performers on the schedule. If you find one you like, you should really check it out! It's a dinner theater, so you can be entertained and eat right at your seat. The ambiance is great and the food is fabulous! It's from Wild Ginger, located upstairs. The Seven Flavor Beef and Pheonix & Dragon are two dishes that are definitely worth ordering! more

This place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! 9/21/2005

First of all, let me just say that this place is fantastic for whatever reason you would go (you should just find a reason to check it out). It's located beneath the Wild Ginger (same chef) this place has great live music venues and the sound is killer. Whomever books the bands/singers has great taste. I recently discovered this place and I have to spread the good word....the food was great (kind of a Thai fusion) but the service wasn't- but HEY, any place as cool as this, where you get table service throughout the show, and not miss a beat, is going to rate pretty favorably with me. Check out their website and plan to go in for dinner, drinks and some wonderful entertainment. more

  • The Scene
Located across from Benaroya Hall and downstairs from Wild Ginger, this high-end jazz venue draws a distinctly well-heeled crowd. After work, Triple Door is a movers-and-shakers spot for appetizers and delicious cocktails, although there's surprisingly little snobbery amid the suits and schmoozing. Appreciative crowds gather later on for musical performances in the beautifully renovated, 1920s-era vaudeville theater.

    The Draw
In the theater, expect intimate and comfortable seating, personable dining service, and a world-class sound system. The upstairs bar--called the "Musicquarium" because of the giant fish tank at the entrance--is an inviting place to meet friends or scope out well-groomed singles in their mid-30s to 50s. Order a bottle of wine, a few Asian-fusion treats from the menu, and the stage is set for a great evening.
