Fantastic Easter Buffet 4/18/2010

My family and I went to Tree's for their Easter buffet. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. There was a large selection of breakfast and lunch dishes, and even had several vegetarian options. The kids had fun hunting for Easter eggs. I highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Great food, great bar, friendly staff more

Wonderful Cocktail Party 4/18/2010

Tax season just ended & my company had it's ""time to breath"" cocktail party at Tree's. There was 40 to 50 of us, they gave us their outside with the skylight, what a great space. The drinks were wonderful and all the different appetizers were terrific. I would recommend this restaurant for any type of cocktail party. I don't know who the haters are but, I had a great time. Pros: Great Spot, food & drinks more

Big Mistake 4/18/2010

Back and forth goes the reviews I see. But one has to ask the obvious: Why? Well, where there is smoke there is fire. Considering all the good and bad reviews, I tend to agree with the latter. Two visits here and two disappointments. They need a new chef who obviously is a BIG mistake. Cons: The Chef is a BIG mistake more

better than new york???? OMG! Whatever! 4/18/2010

OMG! the reuben was a saturated soggy mess! I cannot believe these good reviews are from actual customers. Better than New York??? Are you kidding me??? Pros: the poor waitress Cons: lies more

St. Pats 4/16/2010

Came in on St. Pats day. Had the Reuben special, better than New York. Kate was my server, breath of fresh air in an industry breeding bad service. I will be back. Pros: great Food Cons: Nadda more

Christmas Party Success!!! 1/19/2010

I work for a large company in the Pac-West building. We do a holiday party every year at a very upscale club in the Portland area. This year the company gave Trees a shot at our party. I would say there was about 200 people there give or take a few. Let me just say WOW!! I was blown away. The staff was friendly and very professional. The food just to die for. They did 5 or 6 different buffet tables with all kinds of appetizers on each one. I loved the chocolate mousse with almonds & their mini burgers & pulled pork. They changed the space into a lounge type setting. In the lower area they had couches and groupings of furniture and also they had a jazz band. Cocktails were just fantastic!! I was drinking a pomegranate martini. I don't know, I just was blown away with the transformation and the whole night. Just wanted to pass this along to anyone planning a party, this place was one of the best ones yet. Pros: Transformation of their space Cons: Not a One more

Good Grief 1/6/2010

Good Grief! Extremely pathetic that you can't get a manager or server to your table and let them know that the food you ordered is not up to your standard or you didn't like it. The waive of the future I guess is to passive aggressively write a bad review and hope total failure and demise over a bad sandwich. Was this review helpful? Helpful to see how we have become a society who wants revenge over bad service and food. I have been here many times. Great food and service. Jamie you are a rockstar! Get a life. Pros: Great Food and Service more

Reviews Help or Hurt 1/6/2010

We would like to say thank you to those who took the time last year to write positive reviews and to those who came to see us despite the bad. Shannon and I have tried not to concern ourselves with the bad reviews. We have always said we grow and learn from the negative feedback not the positive. It is a bit upsetting when our names are publicly put in reviews. Seems like a personal attack and bashing to me. The bad reviews seem so angry and over the top. What can you do? We hope to provide a great service and great food and this is the best we can do and hope all will come and try us based on the positive. Come visit us on face book and meet our staff who are truly are our family. On another note I have truly disliked some places I have eaten but have never been as angry as some of these people are. Go figure. Pros: Made it a year Cons: Bad reviews more

Best Hidden Spot In Downtown 11/1/2009

This is a great hidden restaurant in the Pac-West building down town. They just changed their menu and I have been twice since, I had the Halibut Sandwich with sweet potato fries, LOVED IT!! And I also had the Tree's Lasagna, first of all it's huge, Love the sauce oh..... the grilled bread, fantastic!!! Great job Tree's. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Our service was fast and attentive and the Manager Michelle always comes by to say hi and see if everything is ok. They are just doing it right. I will be back and bring all my clients there for lunch/happy hour. Pros: Food, Service, Price & Atmosphere Cons: None that I can think of.... more

I Love all of Tree's Burgers 10/28/2009

I don't know what these people are talking about.... are you sure you ate at this restaurant???? I eat here twice a week sometimes 3 times, and I love their burgers, hand made, you can taste it. The Sicily burger is strange but it goes together very well, kind of like the combination thats in a rueben. And what type of person won't tell their server that they don't like their food but will spend the time to write negative reviews??? Makes ya wonder!!! Great job Tree's I'll be back!!! Pros: Good Food Everyday Cons: I can't think of any.. more

OMG- Worst in Portland 10/27/2009

Okay. From the outside this place looks elegant and serene. On the inside a totally different story. The service first of all was horrendous. Water served in a warm glass with room temperature water (no ice). Bread was like a rock. We should have left. Manager was more worried about looking important than ensuring her guests were happy. Server seemed to disappear and when she came back stood around gossiping with her co-workers. We had to interrupt to order our meal. It took forever to get our simple lunch. 2 burgers. The sicily burger (i agree with the other reviewer) was a saturated hockey puck (ordered medium) and the ""crispy"" pancetta was like chewing on spare tire. There was so much balsamic vinegar on it I couldn't eat it. I could see my friend took only one bite of her burger (what she ordered I forget). Improper etiquette to complain during a business lunch. I decided to pay the tab (over $20.00) and we left. The funny part is that an hour later we ran into each other at the Starbucks eating sandwich. lol,. Tree's is seriously in need of new owners/management and an entirely new staff. Pros: Nice lamps?? Cons: Where do I begin? more

Mozzarella engrossa????? 10/5/2009

Stopped in here and the first thing I noticed on the menu was mozzarella engrossa well its suppose be is mozzarella in carozza "" mozzarella in a carriage""when a chef doesn't take the time check the spelling of menu item before putting on the menu you know your in for a treat. Well I had the sicily burger way to much going on not to mention there was nothing sicilian about it smoked aioli balsamic tomatoes blue cheese pancetta it was like a war in your mouth not to mention it was cooked to death I mean some poor animal gave its life for this.I looked at the Dinner menu straigt out of the eighties with Ten01 prices.Out of curiosity I went to the web site and found out the chef was the same one from pesaros I think it was open for about six months before it folded some of the worst italian food enwhere.. more

GIVE ME A BREAK! 8/9/2009

Give me a break! Website hours are WRONG. Closed at 7:45 pm. Called and rude man who called me ""Bro"" said they were doing ""summer hours"". Tried to reserve a party for 8:45-9:00pm. The guy says ""oh we'll be closed by then"". But the hours of operation state 'til 11PM! Gee Thanks guys!! In this economy I feel this place will fail miserably. Businesses do not succeed making their potential customers angry. By the way - I'm not your BRO!! OH YEAH, the Next Pinot Noir Bottled By King Estate 750ml 2007 is some of the cheapest Pinot Noir on the market at 15$ a bottle and is a high volume wine. True wine aficionado's stay away from this type. You all have a lot to learn. Pros: NONE WHATSOEVER Cons: I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN more

Nice Wine... 8/8/2009

Great little spot, tucked away in the Pac-West building. Had some great Pinot called Next. Also had some great apps at a great price. Service was good, booth was comfortable I will go back. more

Horrible!!!! 7/24/2009

Do NOT, I repeat... DO NOT spend your money here! The worst food (spoiled and foul calamari) I have had in YEARS. The music was so obnoxious I had a headache. The bartender had a very bad attitude and acted like he was god's gift to this earth.I came in happy and left angry and perturbed. This business WILL fail. Good riddance. FUGETABOUTIT?.... Forget out your business making it. Pros: Nothing Cons: Music, Food, Service more

fugetaboutit! 6/16/2009

I come from a big Italian family full of great cooks who know that simple fresh ingredients make amazing meals. Tree's nailed it for me! The calmari is the best I have ever had, the filet was insane - like buttah! The salmon was to die for (my man ordered it), perfectly cooked - I NEVER order salmon at restaurants because most places slaughter it, not here, to my amazement! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, service was just enough and never annoying. They kept the vino flowing and the table clean. The chef came to our table to check on us, her name is Shannon and she made us feel welcome - very unexpected. We will be back with clients and friends for lunch and dinner and happy hour! Thank you for bringing Tree's to Portland, a welcome change from the boring, uninventive restaurants in town. Much success to you. This place is a must for Portlanders who appreciate a real restaurant!\r Ciao! Pros: Everything more

Great Food and Great Atmosphere 6/15/2009

This restaurant has great food, great service, fast, friendly help. Live music is great too. My kids and I really enjoyed going and have always had wonderful meals! Pros: Nice place, Good Food, Live Music, walking distance from PSU Cons: parking - helps if you know downtown more

Fishy is right. 6/14/2009

I have experienced better. I was given a coupon for this place so I thought I'd give it a try. Finding this place is a bit of a challenge. It actually took us 20 minutes to find suitable parking. Accessibility is HORRIBLE with the way the streets are one-way. We were looking for a sign and couldn't find it. We had no idea what the Pac West Tower looked like and we finally found it. Can't really drive around the block with all the no right turns on 5th avenue. Had no idea there was a parking garage there.Couldn't even tell a restaurant was in there. The building looked deserted. Hardly any business there. Sad. We got great friendly service from the server. The food was less than desirable for the price. Flavor was bland and it took awhile to get our food. Unless we get another buy one get one free, we probably won't be back. Not recommended unless you got a coupon. Hard to see how this place stays afloat. Get better signage people. Also it's almost summer in Oregon. Outside seating would be nice. Most Portlanders are cooped up all winter and like to enjoy the outdoors in the summer. Pros: good drinks Cons: parking, location more

If You Don't Have Anything Nice..... 6/14/2009

Wow... People are NUTS!!! I've been here several times and I think this place is GREAT!! I say go there and see for yourself. Open kitchen makes you feel like your in the action and the food is great!! I love the new live music on Thursday's... Good Choice. Service has always been fast and friendly. I'll be back and I will bring friends. Pros: food, service Cons: bathroon more

Some reviewers sound fishy 6/12/2009

Sounds like Walkerzz is an owner trying to write false positive reviews about their business. A little to descriptive, like a commercial. Anyways, the food is not the greatest. Service okay. Pain in the neck to get to, especially with the way the streets are marked now. Too far to walk for dining for the show I went to at the Arlene Schnitzer. This place will not last. No restaurant has ever made it here. Good luck. Pros: Good Bartender Cons: parking, food, ambiance more
