this is a great salon!

Worst

Recently had a cut and color at Treat - I will never go back there! The team lacks skill and they are rude. . . overpriced. I love Aveda products but I will start buying them so...

Jonathan Baker is amazing! 10/17/2006

I've been going to a great stylist for years and have been quite happy, but recently a friend recommended that I give Jonathan a try. I did, and I'm so thrilled...I've been getting so many compliments on my new 'do, people saying it's really me. His cut has made me look younger and more modern. Jonathan was great at listening to what I wanted, but also making creative suggestions. It's so nice to find a stylist who isn't just techniquely skilled, but is also INSPIRED. \r Go check him out...you won't be disappointed! more

A haircut that's worth traveling to SF for... 10/5/2006

I haven't had many good haircuts. This is not to say that many haven't tried. But Jonathan Baker, at Treat, pulled the impossible. He listened to what I wanted/hoped for, and then was able to do his thing. He pulled it off--the trifecta: a haircut that doesn't accentuate my cone-shaped head, that looks groovy enough that I might be let into clubs, and that is toned down enough to allow me to keep my job. I'd recommend Jonathan without any qualms. Really... the best haircut I've ever had. I'm just bummed that I moved to LA. more

Best Aveda salon in San Francisco 9/12/2006

I got tired of those large, corporate salons downtown. You know the type, the owner is not even a hairdresser, and is in it for the money. I have been to more than my share of these shops on Maiden Lane, and other spots downtown. That is why I gave Treat a chance after finding them on Aveda's web site. The owner did my hair, and it was some pretty good blonde highlights if I do say so myself. The haircut I recieved from my stylist was exactly what I wanted. Throughout the whole experience they listened to what I wanted, gave some good suggestions, and did exactly what we agreed on. I definitely think it makes a difference when the owner is a hairdresser, and is there taking clients along with the staff. I also got a free foot bath and hand massage with my service, and they have the coolest beds that you lay down on to get your hair washed. I will be recommending it to my friends. Pros: friendly and professional more

Best Brazilian waxing!!! 9/10/2006

A good Brazilian is hard to find in this town, no one seems to have been trained how to do it. That is why I was so excited to find Christina at Treat. She has been doing them for years, and was fast & professional. The price was only $50, which is less than I usually pay in the Marina. This means that I can get it done regularly, rather than a once-in-a-while kind of thing. The finshed appearance was great, I can not wait to show my husband. I would recommend this salon to my friends and coworkers. Pros: value, quality more

great clothes 9/2/2006

I have been exited with the finds at treat this week. I came across it walking down Fillmore with a friend who was visiting from out of town. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the selection was great. Pros: friendly, great slection more

Go To Jonathan Baker - NOW AT THE BARBER LOUNGE ON FOLSOM 9/2/2006

Jonathan Baker is terrific! He recently moved to the Barber Lounge on Folsom.\r \r I've lived in the area for 8 years, and I've never found a hair stylist whose work I completely loved until Jonathan. Hands down, he's giving me the best haircuts of my life. He trained in London with Toni & Guy, going on to teach there himself and advance to the position of art director. He's done hair for fashion shows, events, and more, and he really knows how to make your cut look modern, fresh, sophisticated, European, all those good things -- without taking you beyond what will work with your personality and work/lifestyle. He's also studying fashion at the Academy of Art, so he really thinks about your haircut in terms of your overall style (and where it's headed). Plus, he's a winning conversationalist. A total delight. \r \r Treat just closed, but you can still find Jonathan David Baker at the Barber Lounge, 854 Folsom, 415 934 0411! Pros: Style with a Smile more

Nice service & staff 8/22/2006

I went to Treat to get a gift certificate for my wife as a birthday gift. The staff was helpful and the place looked great. I am looking forward to going back. Pros: friendly, helpful more

Great hair cuts, clothing 8/21/2006

I got my first cut at Treat this weekend. The staff was friendly & knowledgeable, and I left feeling really good about myself. I also found a couple of great gifts for my girlfriend's birthday. The staff was very helpful with hepling me find some clothing that she would like. I will be recommending it to my friends. Pros: friendly and knowledgeable more

Great clothing selection 8/17/2006

I was visiting from Los Angeles when I came across Treat. I Loved the clothing selection and the girls were so friendly. They really appreared to enjoy outfitting their customer. I wasn't aware they did hair until I went up tp the dressing rooms. WHAT A GREAT IDEA! Designer clothing and hair in one space. Hey Treat...when are you opening a location in L.A.? Pros: Retail staff, selection of unique brands, beauty and fashion combo. more

Hillary 8/1/2006

I got my hair highlighted by Hillary this week. She did exactly what I asked for, and the blowdry was great also. She took her time, and listened to me. The best part was the price, she did not charge me an arm and a leg like a lot of salons do. I will be back, and I would recommend her to anyone. Pros: great highlights, prices more

Great men's haircuts 7/31/2006

Usually when I get a haircut I come out looking one way - SHORT. At Treat they gave me a cut that made me look stylish and one that I was comfortable with. I will be recommending it to all of my guy friends. Pros: good for men more

Great haircut, experience 7/31/2006

I tried Treat for the first time this weekend. My stylist Kathleen gave me a great haircut, showed me how to style it, and gave me some good suggestions on different ways that I can wear it. The cut started with a complimentary hand massage and foot bath. I got to lay down on these cool beds to get my hair washed. I thought that was the best part because I hate those bowls that pinch your neck. The overall experience was great, the quality of the cut was excellent, and the place is super friendly. I will definately be back. Pros: Hand and foot massage with your haircut more

cool clothes, hip store 7/30/2006

I found treat while visiting San Francisco, a friend that lives in Marin told me that Fillmore street was worth checking out. I found lots of cute things to buy, the staff was very friendly, and I did not feel pressured to buy things. They also have a nice Aveda salon in the back, and I saw some great hair leaving the salon while I was shopping. I will definately be back in the next time I am in San Francsico Pros: Great clothes and staff more

great clothes and fun staff 7/29/2006

I love the selection of clothes I find at boutiques, but usually the help can be pretty bad. Not at Treat. They had a lot of things for me to buy: good fitting jeans (this means that they made my butt look great,) high quality t-shirts, and hip belts. The girl that helped me, Lisa was both friendly and knowledgeable. She offered suggestions, and was even honest when something that I picked out for myself wasn't very flattering. Most stores would tell you it looks great no matter what, so they get the sale rather than telling you the same thing that a friend would. I will definately be back. Insiders tip: check frequently for sale items. Pros: good selection and staff more

Great blonde highlights 7/28/2006

I went to treat because I have been having trouble finding someone that is good with blonde highlights. The front desk referred me to jeremy. I always ask for a lot of highlights, small sections and weaves, but usually leave with something chunky. I think that most colorists do the chunky thing out of laziness. Jeremy took his time and did what I asked. My natural color is brown, and he suggested softening my base color to go along with the brighter highlights. I gave it a try and loved it. I am brighter and softer than I have ever been, and I feel great. I would recommend seeing him if you have trouble finding someone who is consistantly good with natural highlights. I also loved my foot massage that he gave me. It was unexpected, but definately appreciated. Pros: soft, natural highlights and friendly more

Kristensen Du Nord 7/28/2006

I recently found out about treat from a friend. I was thrilled to find my favorite designer there, Kristensen du nord. His stuff is beautiful, and the look is classic. The thing that I love about it is the pieces I bought a few years ago still are current. It lasts forever! Treat has the largest selection I have found so far in the bay area. I also found some great jeans and belts there. The staff is friendly and helpful. Pros: Large selection of Kristensen Du Nord! more

great clothes and staff 7/28/2006

I was referred to treat by a friend who works at Nieman Marcus. I loved the selection and the staff made some great recommendations for using the pieces I bought in new ways. The feel is very friendly and the quality of the clothes is top notch. I would recommend this store to anyone who is looking for something new. Pros: Great slelection, friendly staff more

Great for professionals, loved my new cut 7/27/2006

I am a 36 year old professional that works in the financial district. I recently moved to San Francisco from the east bay because I got sick of the commute. I have always gone to Aveda salons, and recently tried to find a new one in the city. I first went to one downtown, and it was your regular big, downtown salon. The thing that turned me off was that everyone working there was very young, like the kids you see hanging out in the mission and the marina. I travel a lot for business, meeting with clients. I have always had trouble getting younger hairdresssers to understand the look that I need: current yet professional. I went to treat and had my hair cut by Natasha. She was still youthful, but it turns out that she has been doing hair for 17 years. She gave me a new look that I love, yet it will not raise any eyebrows when I walk into a meeting. After talking with her, I found out that she is on Aveda's editorial team, and travels frquently teaching for them. I loved that she was so current with her own field, yet gave me something that I was comfortable with. The best part was that I got to lay down on a bed to get my hair washed, and she gave me a hand and foot rub with hot towels during it. Her blowdry was excellent also. It was nice to give me a blowout, rather than trying to flat iron me as all hairdressers seem to want to do these days. Pros: Great cut and blowdry more

Great color and the best prices 7/26/2006

I recently went to Treat and had a color consultation with Hillary, one of their junior colorists. At first I was a little nervous becuase of her junior colorist title, but after talking to her for a few minutes I knew that I had nothing to worry about. She told me that she had attended school at the original Aveda institute in Minneapolis, and after recieving her license she went through an additional year of advanced color training at Treat. Hillary told me that her color director was the color educator at the largest Aveda salon group in the country before working at Treat, and also did stage and editorial color work for Aveda corporation. I figured that with this kind of training that she must be pretty good. She gave me some great ideas for updating my look, and working me into something new without scaring me away. I got my color done there yesterday, and it is fabulous. She did what I asked her to, and the work was excellent. The best part was the price because she is still a junior colorist. If you have not tried someone new in a while, I recommend giving it a try, espicially at this price. Pros: great color and prices Cons: no more

Cute Clothes, friendly staff 7/26/2006

I found Treat when walking Fillmore Street today. I found lots of fun and flirty things there including Chip & Pepper jeans and t-shirts frm Velvet. I used to have trouble finding these brands, but I guess that I now know where to look. The staff was very helpful with their suggestions and friendly. They actually greeted me when I walked in the door, unlike some of the attitude I get at other fancy boutiques. I am definately going to be going back. Pros: Beautiful enviroment, friendly staff, great clothes more
