This place is great 2/17/2010

We ate the La Tricolore for our appetizer $9.95 which is one of the best things they serve here, we ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon $38 for the bottle and for dinner we had the ravioloni ricotta e spinaci $16.95 and the fresh tomato sauce is amazing, I always order extra sauce. My Mom ordered grilled chicken breast with rosemary, sage & garlic served with beets & spinach $19.95 I personally like this place and have eaten here at least 5 times with no complaints. It is worth a visit and it's not that expensive. Their menu is also posted on their website with the prices so there aren't any surprises. Pros: Olive Tapenade with bread is yummy more

Tourist trap 11/23/2008

Ok. Living in LA, I would usually avoid Hollywood and Highland on a Saturday night but since it was a birthday party I didn't have a choice. This restaurant is overpriced and mediocre. The food and the atmosphere were forgettable. The prices, however, were not. To top it off, they charge each person for any split plate, then charge tax on that, and finally add gratuity on it in the end. The restaurant was more than half empty and now I see why. They must depend on tourists to stop in because I'm sure there aren't many repeat customers. You would be better off going to an restaurant like Dakota in order to get your money's worth. Pros: Server was nice Cons: Parking, Price, Location, Food, Additional charges more

Best Italian in Southern California! 2/25/2007

I have been to Trastevere 10+ times since we stumbled upon it 3 years ago. Most times I've gone, it's been for lunch. The services is excellent and the food is even better. The bread and olive oil is the best! Their water is good, and the bus boys are usually really prompt at refilling your glass. If you order a soft drink beware- they don't offer refills. It's a bit much to pay $3.00 for a glass of soda in my opinion. Their daily specials are delicious but a bit pricier than their lunch specials if you do go during the lunch hours (11-3). They offer lunch during the week only and this does exclude holidays. The food is ready quickly it seems, just as you're enjoying your bread and olive oil. The pizza is delicious! My 5-year-old son asks for it every time. This place is very family friendly during the day. My personal favorite is the pollo e broccoli (penne pasta with chicken and broccoli in a light cream sauce) my only regret is that I can never seem to finish it all!! At the end of the meal, the waiter brings to your table a small dish of Amaretto cookies (THE BEST!) These are sooo good that I make it a rule to buy a bag of these cookies from them to take home. Parking is only $2 for 4 hours I believe. All in all, I have to say that I have never tasted pasta as delicious anywhere else as I have here. I think I might have to go to Italy to find something better? GIve Trastevere a try, you will LOVE it! Pros: Food, Service, Food, Ambience... did I say Food? Cons: Many tourists who happen to smoke come here, so if you want to avoid lung cancer, sit inside! more

horrible service, mediocre food 11/3/2006

i had a dinner meeting there. we had to ask numerous times just for water. the server ignored us and for the price, the food was not worth it. i will not go there again. Cons: tons more

Fantastic!!! 5/15/2005

I've enjoyed each of my three visits to Trastevere so much! The food is great and the service is even better! It's also a good spot for an after-show drink. Highly recommended! Pros: Great service, Good parking, Good food Cons: Loud music more

Surprisingly good! 9/22/2004

The first time we went here, we were merely looking for a quick, reasonable meal in Hollywood & Highland and didn't have high hopes. All of us were very surprised at how good the food was -- on par with some of the best Italian I've had in L.A., to be honest. Repeat visits have not disappointed, and the service is solid as well. A great value and mighty tasty. more

maybe i'm the outlier 12/7/2003

I'm actually VERY surprised that there were positive ratings for this restaurant. Basically, my server somehow screwed up our order and only half the dishes came out. This was after waiting nearly an hour and we were very tempted to leave. The food was decent, but the wait and horrific service turned our appetites sour. The so-called plus side? We paid 50% for the food. But really, should we have paid at all? more

Lick-your-plate good! 6/23/2003

Best quality, best value around! Bread comes with a wonderful tapenade that's not too strong. I wish I could take it home! Fried calamari easily serves 3-4, and is so light and tender it's ethereal and addictive. I dream about their pasta carbonara. Pasta is perfectly al dente and the sauces are all luscious. (but you gotta try the carbonara!) They use prime beef, so steaks are excellent and cooked perfectly to order. The lamb chop special melts in your mouth. Best spinach/garlic sautee ever. Wait staff is very friendly, knowledgable and attentive (and cute!), though you may have to hound the busboy for water refills. But they're so personable it's hard to get annoyed. Good selection of wines by bottle and glass. Calamari $12. Steak $21. Pastas $10-14. Everyone I've taken there has fallen in love with the place. I wish I could eat there every day. Pros: Amazing food, Great value Cons: You dream about them, Addictive more

Great Food! 11/17/2002

The food was great! The prices were reasonable. It was honestly the best food any of us at our table had ever had. You can't go wrong eating at this place. I recommend a plate that we ate that served steak, potates and spinach then we shared a pasta that was served with a red sauce and crushed peppers. A little on the spicey side but it was great! more
