I had the mechanics here help me rebuild the transmission in an old fixer upper my son and I bought for fun. We got almost everything working correctly, excellent the transmission. The guys did their part well and now the car is done and fantastic. Rebuilding that car has been a blast. more

Dave and the whole staff really are incredibly friendly and helpful. As a woman, I have had plenty of mechanics patronize me, but not here. They talk straight and let me know all my options. I am a self employed contractor that has one vehicle to produce a income. I called them November 1st and explained the symptoms and noises that my transmission was making. He explained to me the possible problems and with the mileage on the transmission it would likely need to be replaced. I got him to tell me a ballpark price to replace the transmission to make sure I had enough money. He expressed the importance of diagnosing and fixing my transmission promptly, being it was how I made a living. I was sold on that and he then proceeded to tell me he would have a price quote by the end of the week, November 4th. I dropped the vehicle off the following morning, November 2nd, gave them the key, name, address, phone number and waited for them to call.\r \r November 7th, late afternoon they haven more

Dave's knows his transmissions and makes sure they get fixed, repaired or replaced better than anyone I have dealt with in the past, including the dealer. And, he does it for almost half the price. My wife's Volvo S80 needed to have her transmission repaired and he had the experience to fix it right. I runs better than it did when it was new. The shop is a bit quirky, full of cars, indicating lots of customers,but they do the job right. I have taken my cars to Daves for the past five years. He tells you if he can't do a job and he tells you the real problem, never charging more or doing more work than needed. The shop is the only place I have been to that will drive with you to find out what the problem is and listen to you to make sure they are focused on the right issues. I would highly recommend using Dave for any transmission problems and many others you may have. more

I work at a Full Service Auto Shop in Ballard. I purchased a 91 Mustang as a project car, auto trans was not shifting into overdrive. after a filter change and a flush, along with a friction modifier the symptom persisted. A mystery to us full service guys, the next logic step is a specialty shop. My service writer highly reccomended Daves Transmission. So i decided to stop in. I tried to pull into the lot, but had to leave my car half way into the street because of how cramed their lot is with cars. I parked and went inside. Automotive parts litter the floors along the entrance and the somewhat of a front counter. A young man is sitting on a couch to my right. far behind the counter is a gentleman doing paperwork, he looks up and sees me, then continues what he is doing. the phone rings, the man answers ""Transmission service, how can I help"". I continue waiting at the counter. he finishes the call and continues with his paperwork, a woman walks up next to him, looks at me then the begin to make small talk. I continue standing at the front counter for another minute or two before walking out, without anyone there even achnologing my presesce. Never let these guys touch your car. Any automotive shop with the slightest amount of customer service would have an employee asking me how they could help within seconds of entering a lobby. not making me stand there waiting to be ignored for minutes. Never go to Dave's Never reccomend Dave's Plain and simple more

Been a business customer of the Dave's for 14 years, they are the best I've ever done business with. Jobs done on time and right. Never had a bad transmission or come back on their work. I wouldn't give too much credibility to a person who can't spell (oxy cotton?). I've never heard a bad thing about them. 5 Stars and thanks for the great work and awesome price guys! more

I just would like to take a second to explain the 2 bad comments about Trans Service. One about theft being preformed. The reason why a company would not insure any losses of a customer was because you weren’t the business’s customer. You were the mechanic’s. When you decide make a private deal with a mechanic for them to do on their own time. You have now become a customer of the mechanic. How do you expect a company to dig in their pockets to insure you when you were never their customer.\r \r The next comment I would like to address was the person who was explaining their quality of work on their $800 dollar transmission rebuild. Well for starters, a standard industry rebuild price is $2,500 to $3,000 dollars. If you just had your transmission serviced that doesn’t mean something catastrophic is not going to happen down the line. In order to insure that you should spend the money and have the transmission rebuilt. Or you could go buy a new transmission from the factory if your vehicle is new enough, it will normally set you back $10,000 dollars. Pros: Honest Quality Work more

cars been there for 2 months the worker there was a oxy cotton user and stole my money and didnt fix my car and the owner wont do anything about the steal there fraudulent and have bad service Pros: nothing Cons: theft and fraud more

A few years ago I had a 1977 Suburban with a ""blown"" tranny. I took it to these guys and they charged me $800 to ""rebuild"" it. I got it back, 4 weeks later. They had simply fixed it. No rebuild. They didn't even pull it from the truck. Usually when something like a tranny gets rebuilt, well first they pull it, second they rebuild it, third they clean it and paint it so you know its rebuilt, and lastly they stick it back in and make sure it works.\r Not only did they take their sweet time fixing my truck, but they never actually rebuilt the tranny in it, and charged me way too much for nothing.\r Don't give your money to them!! Pros: They were nice at the cash register. Cons: If you want a complete tranny rebuild, they will charge you for the full thing and not rebuild it, just fix it. more

Not only did they take the time to explain into detail the work that was going to be performed on my vehicle so that I felt comfortable with the complete process, but the courteous phone call up dates to let me know the progress on my car was going great. The small family business feel made it so I will be more than confidant to return with out my husband's guidance again in the future.\r \r I came in for my full transmission to be rebuilt. The other local transmissions shops said that's what it needed and charged me $75.00 dollars for the quote. I was referred to Trans Service from a friend because he told me they do not charge for a estimated cost which ended up being hundreds less!! Later in the day after I dropped off my car they called to let me know a far less costly repair needed to be done to fix the problem. They saved me tons of money and I would refer them to a friend or family member in a heart beat!! \r \r Thank you Trans Service!!!\r \r Pros: Nice, Knowledgeable Staff Cons: Not One!!! more
