Worst

I'm from Vancouver, so I find most dim sum places here sub-par. I would've rated this place higher had the waitress not decided she needed to use her fingers to remove the piece ...

A joke 9/6/2010

If I could go lower then 1 star... The food is ok if you hit it at the right time. Come to late in the afternoon and it tastes like its been sitting under heat lamps to long. I have been there twice, my first experience was good. I treated my family both times to the tune of 100+ dollars. The second time was where I have the problem. I included the tip with my ticket at the register. Upon returning to the table to leave my family and I were accosted by 3 servers saying ""no tip, no tip!"" I tried to explain to them that I included it on the ticket but since they didn't speak English they did not understand. So if you don't mind being accosted by dishonorable, rude servers begging for money they already received for service that wasn't that great, then this place is for you. Otherwise, for the mediocre food and servers trying to shame us into giving them cash, embarrassing both myself and my family, I say steer clear. more

Food and service is terrible 8/21/2009

I went here recently because of the article in Seattle Magazine and they raved about this place. So I went and experienced the worst service of my life. The waiter was rude and extremely slow! Save your money people and don't waste your time at this place. Pros: There are no pros Cons: Too many cons to list more

I got ripped off 6/19/2009

A friend of mine told me about the King Crab Speical at Top Gun Restaurant in Bellevue running for $9.99/lb. I took my family and friends, a total of 5, to Top Gun and tried out the Speical. The waiter took the live King Crab to the table and told me it is 8lb. I OK with it and asked the kitchen to prepare in 3 different dishes which I was told for $10 extra. I ordered a couple of extra side dishes from the Menu which cost around $22. At dinner, I noticed the body part of the King Crab was missing, The shell of the Crab was covered with rice with no taste of crab. Obviously, the shell was used before. After dinner, the bill added up to $144 + tax =$159. It didn't look right to me. I notice on the Bill with some extra items listed as ""Kitchen Items"". When I asked the waiter for explanation, he told me that were some items added into the dishes which I wasn't aware of or ordered. I had guests with me, so I just paid the bill with tips, a total of $180. I ended up having a ripped off dinner. \r IF YOU GO & EAT THERE WHICH I DON'T RECOMMEND, BE CAREFUL NOT TO PAID WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD. I HEARD SOMETHING BAD ABOUT THE OWNER. more

Worst and rudest service I've EVER seen and had!! 2/14/2009

I have never took the time out to write a review however after what I witnessed today I don't think I have much choice. I have worked as a server for approximately 8 yrs. so I am very aware of how the restaurant business works. Today (Valentine's Day) I saw a young and beautiful African-American couple completely shamed by our server. Now, I don't know the couple but we did have the same server. This man took over 5 mins. to greet me, another approx 10 mins to take my order, and when I asked him a question he answered by walking away and screaming the answer. When I got my food I informed him that I would also be ordering a to-go meal, which took him about 15 mins to take AFTER I was done eating. Furthermore, he only took it because I walked up to him to remind him. Now, before I go on I want to mention that the place was not yet busy so he really has no excuse for his behavior. So, moving along, this couple was on their way out when this incompetent server stopped them and INSISTED that they tip him more! He continued by telling them that it was ""against the law"" not to tip a certain amount and that they couldn't leave until they tipped! I can honestly say that I have wanted to do this before but never had. Also, judging by his service (or lack there of), he didn't deserve a dime! Finally this poor couple who probably just wanted to enjoy their Valentine's day date gave this pathetic man more money. Oh, and if you're wondering how I was able to hear all this?? Well, it's because the server literally raised his voice enough for the whole restaurant to hear! Pros: Food was not bad and the portions were generous Cons: The service was absolutely horrid!! more

Food is great. Service is bad. 11/26/2008

Food is great. Service is bad. I went there four times for dim sum and quit going there because of bad service. First time: great food, average service. Second time: great food, bad service. Third time: great food, irritating service. Fourth time: great food, intolerable service. Ming Chinese restaurant has the same great food, but better service and cheaper price. more

Great dim sum for the east side! 6/29/2008

I finally tried Top Gun the other day and really liked the food. I live in Bellevue so it was nice not having to drive all the way out to Seattle for good dim sum. I highly recommend this place if you live on the Eastside and want to stay local. more

Popular Place 6/24/2008

This place is always hopping on the weekends. Better to get there when they open or you will face a long wait. Bathrooms are ....dirty..with paper towels overflowing the receptacles. Service is a bit rude too. You get that ""rushed"" feeling when you go here. It's ""Wham, Bam, Thank you paying customer"". However, the wait staff is pretty nice--the hostess needs lessons on ""hospitality"". The most irritating thing is, the do not show the prices on their Dim Sum checks, like you would see at some other restaurants. So, always ask! Another great place is called Chinese Seafood Restaurant in the Renton Highlands. Pros: Food Cons: Parking is horrible more

One of the BEST dimsum places to go to. 4/12/2008

So far, me and my husband have been to three dimsum places (House of Hong, China Gate and Top Gun) and by far this is the best place to go to. We arrived arround 11:00 saturday. Parking is not a problem at this time. The atmosphere is okay , a typical dimsum type of atmosphere . The dimsum is awesome! You should try it . They have a wide variety of dimsum to choose from and it's warmed. My husband and I loved it! Bring your family, friends and give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. The dimsum here is almost the same as what you get at hongkong dimsum restaurants. I loved this place. more

best dim sum I've had on the East Side 4/8/2008

I'm almost in shock to read so many negative reviews on Top Gun. My husband and I went there for the first time last Sat. and had a wonderful experience, despite the hoodish surrounding (but what do you expect?? It?s in Factoria?) and limited parking spaces. The dim sun items are better than Noble Court (we?ve been going there for over 8 years), Santosa, and etc. The food was steaming hot and not as greasy as lots of other dim sum places. I also always order a stir-fry veggie dish to go with my brunch; the CNese broccoli was delicious- green and crispy. We will definitely go back there for dim sum again. The one flip-side thing I found is the staffs are a little slow-in-the-head, and I speak Chinese, so please beware of that fact and do some homework on Chinese food before you go there? Pros: good food Cons: parking, English-proficiency of staffs more

A Dim Sum Review 1/12/2008

This restaurant is hiding behind business complexes near the Factoria Mall. The Saturday morning dim sum starts at 10AM. During the weekend AND weekday a line will most likely be building up by noon. Arrive early because the teeny-tiny parking lot gets full fast. Nearby businesses have ?No Restaurant Parking? warning signs everywhere, but there is plenty of parking around the block or across the street. The winning characteristic about Top Gun is the dim sum selection. There are the traditional nomegai, shumai, shrimp noodles, beef noodles, shrimp ball, chicken feet, tripe, etc?. However, Top Gun has a few more items on the carts that include honey-walnut-prawns, fried calamari, fried noodles, congee, and a bunch of other things that I haven?t seen in other restaurants dim sum. The quality and quantity of the dim sum entrees are good (for Seattle). The environment is great for large groups that expect the typical Chinese restaurant feel: very busy service (and sometimes inattentive) and the typical Chinese restaurant comfort and cleanliness. The dim sum is best when fresh, so arrive early to beat the crowds. Pros: Dim Sum Selection Cons: Horrible Parking more

BEWARE!! BAD PLACE!!! 12/28/2007

After reading several bad reviews I decided to take a chance with a take out order. I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I got to Top Gun promptly 20 minutes later only to be told I would need to wait an additional 10 minutes. After waiting for another 30 minutes for my food it was obvious they had not started cooking my order until I got their. When I got home and opened my order instead of getting the mongolian beef and chow mein I ordered I was given two orders of chow mein. As it turned out the chow mein was not good and I hope the person that got my mongolian beef enjoyed it better than I enjoyed their chow mein. This was definitely my last experience with Top Gun!!! Cons: Rude and Confused Staff more

absolutly horrible. do not waste your money 11/15/2007

this food was so horrible, i felt the need to come on here, and warn others so they dont waste their money like i did. the place was old and dirty. the fish were barely moving in their tanks, and a lobster was pinned to the floor of his tank with tongs. there was one family in there. i guess that should have been my warning. we ordered almond fried chicken, and chicken friend rice. the almond fried chicken was disgusting. never in my life have i gone out for dinner, and had only one bite of my entree. it was greasy, and had no flavor at all. the chicken was slathered in batter and fried, and the sauce was tasteless. \r the service was bad, no one spoke english. dim sum is only served to three, and i will never ever go back to this place. dont waste your money.\r \r -keri Pros: nothing Cons: everything. more

Although it is convenient they act like they are the only game in town. Really too bad. They could do so much better if they were nice. No wonder the waiters behave the way they do poor service, poor tips,. more

WATCH OUT! 7/4/2007

1. When ordering seafood, make sure you get all that you ordered. We ordered and was charged for a 2lb crab and 2lb of geoduck. The crab was missing the meatiest part - the joints under the belly! We only got the legs. The geoduck plate only had 1/4 lbs of meat on it.\r 2. RUDE waiters. Had to argue with a waiter in order to get 2 more finger bowls...he only brought 1 for a table of 6. He claims we should share 1 bowl because ""we don't have enough room"" on the table for more finger bowls. When asking another waiter for the manager's name, he didn't remember it. When she appeared later in the evening, we were able to complain and the service miraculously improved.\r 3. The menu choices are limited. I think if you spoke and read Chinese, you can get better menu choices.\r 4. Get your own plates. If they don't service your table and you need extra plates, napkins, chopsticks, go ahead and get them - I did.\r \r In general, I don't expect quality service from any Chinese restaurant, but this time, the service was worse than average. Pros: Close to home Cons: Rude waiters, parking, menu choices more
