Average Dim Sum 12/24/2011

Lets just say I would go here for lunch, but not a place to enjoy a Sunday with family. more

OK for Bellevue 5/19/2009

HORRID SERVICE!! 2/14/2009

have never took the time out to write a review however after what I witnessed today I don't think I have much choice. I have worked as a server for approximately 8 yrs. so I am very aware of how the restaurant business works. Today (Valentine's Day) I saw a young and beautiful African-American couple completely shamed by our server. Now, I don't know the couple but we did have the same server. This man took over 5 mins. to greet me, another approx 10 mins to take my order, and when I asked him a question he answered by walking away and screaming the answer. When I got my food I informed him that I would also be ordering a to-go meal, which took him about 15 mins to take AFTER I was done eating. Furthermore, he only took it because I walked up to him to remind him. Now, before I go on I want to mention that the place was not yet busy so he really has no excuse for his behavior. So, moving along, this couple was on their way out when this incompetent server stopped them and INSISTED that they tip him more! He continued by telling them that it was "against the law" not to tip a certain amount and that they couldn't leave until they tipped! I can honestly say that I have wanted to do this before but never had. Also, judging by his service (or lack there of), he didn't deserve a dime! Finally this poor couple who probably just wanted to enjoy their Valentine's day date gave this pathetic man more money. Oh, and if you're wondering how I was able to hear all this?? Well, it's because the server literally raised his voice enough for the whole restaurant to hear! more

Good DimSum 9/16/2008

There are a few things to consider when writing this review - 1) if you're looking for good customer service, this place isn't it. some people value this highly - don't come here to eat. 2) this place probably offers the best authentic chinese food on the east side. if you want good food, minus service, people are willing to wait in line for it. 3) price - the place charges tea per person. that's a bit annoying. 4) atmosphere - this is not a place to bring someone on a romantic date. more

This place is a RIP-OFF!!! 12/14/2007

They charge tea by how many people that's in your party. I can understand if they charge by the pot but not by the cup. And they never ask they just automatically do it. NEVER GOING BACK. SERVICE SUCKS!!! more

Rude Service 11/28/2007

I had been eating at their restaurant in Seattle for years, always bringing many friends with me for dim sum and the owner is consistently rude and impolite. They are no longer in Seattle and haven't been for years so make note of that. Who wants to be treated badly when all you want is to enjoy your meal and have a good time with friends. I finally swore never to return but why would you have to since Jade Garden is the best in town. The ingredients are much better and after eating you feel good all day. I agree with the folks who also got the rude treatment that posted that here. Go elsewhere and maybe they'll get the hint one day. more

Excellent Authentic Dim Sum 11/21/2006

Walk into this place on a weekend and you'll find it packed with Chinese families although scattered here and there, you will find diners of other nationalities. This is the place for Dim Sum on the eastside. Here you will find all the expected Chinese Dim Sum dishes. The various dumplings - baked, steamed. Sweet "Tou Hwa" ... Hong Kong Congee with century eggs, stewed tripe... Grab what you want the moment the cart comes by, especially the egg custard tarts... hot off the cart. If you wait... you may not see it again! Reservations are recommended as they are always packed. Parking isn't too bad, just farther away then you'd expect, especially on a Sunday when all the other businesses around it are closed and you face vast empty lots that you cannot park in, but must park in the Cinema lot or the Factoria mall. more

Top Gun--lacking some customer service skills 9/6/2006

Why should any Chinese restaurant get away with lesser than decent service compared to other restaurants? I expect good service regardless where I go and was thoroughly disappointed when I went to Top Gun. It's been a while since I revisit Top Gun for dim sum until last weekend. I was there around 1pm and there was still a line waiting to be seated. We put our names on the list and waited well over 30 minutes. As we waited, we noticed that there several couples that got seated before us. I don't usually mind if the number of party were different. However, other couples were getting seated before we were even when we were there first. I didn't approach the hostess, after 10 minutes of noticing that we totally got pushed off the list, the hostess finally looks at us. I know that she acknowledged that they seated others before us! But she didn't even approached us or apologized. There are two hostesses at the front desk, as we waited finally one of the hostess called a different party, but the other hostess spoke up and called our name instead. As we walked by the wait list we saw that four names were crossed under us! By the time we were seated we were very unhappy and really, didn't have the appetite to order anymore! We ordered or regular, shu mai, sticky rice, bbq pork hum bao, and bean curd. The food was less then satisfying, this is probably due to the fact that we were completely unhappy with the service. Our sticky rice was a bit burnt, I think they burnt the banana leaves when cooking the sticky rice which left a smokey after taste. The shu mai was a bit cold and frankly, unappetizing. If i had to compare the dim sum, I would say, Jade Garden in Chinatown has better dim sum. I think the experience I had with Top Gun was so bad that I would not return. I've never felt so shafted in my life! The thing that really irked me was when I paid I left a JB card on the table and the waiter just cleaned it up and tossed it away! I can't believe it. Then again, I was kind of expecting it, I don't think they even know or realized what the business card was for. In short, never again will I come back to this place because the service was just horrible. Even if the food was decent, the service really brought down our dining experience! more

Dim sum and more! 7/23/2006

This is the place to bring the family, friends, and colleagues for authentic Cantonese dim sum. The mainstay dishes - har gow, siew mai, roast pork buns, steamed spare ribs, etc. - are excellent. For the adventurous, their curry cuttlefish, phoenix claws, deep fried pigeon, sauteed clams, and deep fried intestines are all must-trys. Don't miss their egg custard tarts which are one of the best around. Grab them the moment the cart passes your table, for if you waited till dessert, there may not be any more left! Parking in the cinema parking lot next door is convenient if you don't want to fight for the few lots available in the front of the restaurant. Reservations recommended for weekends - although turnover is pretty fast. more

Love, Noodles, and Quiet 3/18/2006

This place has truly great Chinese food. My brother has a thing for Chinese cuisine and he agreed that for that Top Gun has great value. The atmosphere is pretty dull however--calming music plays to kill the silence. The dining area is pretty large and it is one of the few non-fast food restaurants that are open until 1 am in the morning. I'm impressed. The owners of the factoria restaurant are very dedicated. more

Dim sum ho! 12/25/2005

Like most restaurants, there is a seattle and a bellevue branch. We nearly always perfer the Bellevue branches of both Top Gun and of Sea Garden. Top Gun is our main choice for dim sum after a long day of Chinese school. It is nearly always full of Chinese folks. The first sign of a great restaurant, but in this case, it is reasonably authentic and quick. Tops are the usual favorites and the best thing as the kids say is all the food arrives in 15 minutes. Make sure to get there early like 10AM as this and Nobel Court and the others gets just jammed. more

Decent dim sum, nice atmosphere, cleaner than most 9/17/2005

I frequent this restaurant for dim sum during lunch breaks from work. It offers a decent variety of foods, but naturally stocks the most popular, mainstream dishes in the greatest quantity. The price is average compared to other dim sum places on the east side. Parking is a little problematic here, especially during lunchtime when it's busy. This restaurant is also cleaner than most other dim sum places, making it more appealing to non-Asians as well. more
