Bad food and service 9/7/2008

We went to this Tokyo Steak House in Round Rock on Sept. 6, 2008. The place looked very beautiful inside out. The menu starting about $11-40. When we ordered 3 dishes, it took 30 minutes for the first dish, 10 minutes 2nd dish, another 10 minutes for the last dish. When we were served, they gave us a broken bowl. A broken bowl, it's a expensive and fancy restaurant. Why? A service also was very bad. It took 30 minutes for my waitress to refill my water. If it's busy, it's understandable. The place was not even busy at the time. Please beware of this restaurant. more

Lasting Friends... 8/27/2008

Any one who has ever had the opportunity to meet Phoenix Pai, Owner of Tokyo Steakhouse, knows that you will be forever a friend, treated with the utmost hospitality, and respect. She really roles the red carpet out for patrons who become dear and everlasting friends. The food is always top quality, and cooked with perfection, and interesting details from an array of a menu created by Phoenix herself! You will be happy you visited and ask for Phoenix. You don't want to miss that beautiful smile!!! more

had better for less 5/27/2008

I tried this place over the weekend after stopping in the Firebowl Cafe and deciding to leave because their AC wasn't working. I would have much rather suffered in the heat to have a better meal at a much lower price than I had at the Tokyo Steakhouse. We started with the Kani Rolls, which were not that impressive... I had the Chicken Udon and my girlfriend had a chicken and noddle plate (can't recall the name). Both had little flavor and were of the taste and quailty fo Ramen noodles... The chicken was extremly bland in both dishes. There was the nice little surprise of a free dish of ice cream for each of us after our meals, but that did not compensate for the poor taste and high price (we could have had similar dishes at the Fire Bowl Cafe for around $7-$8 a piece rather than the $12 per dish that we paid). There are much better places to go for a simialr (or better) experince in the Austin area. more

What the heck is this? 5/3/2008

I visited an awesome restaurant like this in austin on 183 so I decided to try Tokyo since it is closer to my house. I was so disappointed!\r After reading the reviews I figured it would be the same or even better, but I was wrong. I am an older man and expect to be treated with a little bit of respect. The server was mean and rude and the cook was even worse. It took FOREVER for the cook to come out and cook. My food was bland and he couldn't throw food into anyone's mouth. My steak tasted like it was steamed and not seared along with it being tough. I am not comming back here ever again. Pros: close to my house Cons: everything more

A wonderful meal and show... 10/21/2007

My husband and I were highly impressed! The food was fantastic. It was flavorful, fresh and presented in a fun manner. There are plenty of choices for most folks (chicken, plain or teriyaki, steak, shrimp, grilled veggies, salad, sushi, appetizers). The servings are quite large (I will have a great lunch tomorrow). The staff was prompt and pleasant. overall, we had a wonderful time and cannot wait to take the rest of the family there. Our chef did a nice job, but didn't seem to be the most entertaining of the staff. I would probably see If I could request or reserve one of the more entertaining chefs if I were to take my family back. Highly recommended. Pros: Service, Food, Show, Prices (for what you get), serving sizes...... Cons: Really... none..... Maybe I would ask for a more entertaining chef... more

Flying Shrimp! 2/12/2007

Tokyo Steak House is easily my favorite resturant. But, I would really reccomend making reservations as the Hibachi grills go quickly with families. My suggestion for walk-ins would be waiting (sometimes up to an hour, ugh!) to get a grill because when the chef cooks it is so fun. The chefs generally do a knife show, fling around food and make an onion volcano. It is so worth going to this resturant.\r The food here is obviously categorized as Japanese, but on the menu they serve traditional & modern variants. My reccomendation would be to order the Hibachi Chicken, an excellent dish served with soup, salad, and rice. (take my word for it, get the hibachi rice its so good) I order this because i'm not a big fan of sushi, or eel type stuff, but i've heard they are good.\r As for the service, however, you feel rushed, as if the staff is trying to just sit more people. Another complaint I have about the service is the lack of it. It took a while just to get our waters, and most of the food was served at the same time. (salad w/ entree)\r But in conclusion, I would highly reccomend this resturant for the fun Hibachi grills and excellent food. Pros: Fun Hibachi grill enviroment, excellent food, Live entertainment Cons: Bad service more

awesome food 10/14/2006

I went to tokyo steakhouse with my friends and it was wonderful, the lady owner was such a cheery person. We were able to sit at one table, and we had steak and shrimp. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, and the shrimp was nice and juicy. Our waiter was very attentive. We had a great time, and plan on going again this weekend. Pros: awesome food, great service Cons: location more

a+ dining experience 9/5/2005

first time dining in at this restaurant and i must say, i will definately be back as a regular... the grill chefs are incredible, not only are they flipping their knives and setting things on fire, but their cooking is hands down solid! my filet mignon was served tender and juicy med rare, had some sushi... the hamachi i tried is sooo fresh, i might be back in just to have some more sushi. who ever runs this place knows a thing or two about quality and service... tokyo steak house, you've got yourself another fan! Pros: food, service, nice meeting place Cons: incorrect listing, not in dripping sprgs, in round rock more

wow 7/26/2005

had a friend take me out to lunch here. good food, good smells, good service. plus to top it off, they do some kind of promotion where dell employees get 10% off, its wonderful, i'm telling all my coworkers about this place! even with the hustle and bustle of work sometimes, dining out at a fine restaurant can make you forget those deadlines, even if it's only for an hour. Pros: friendly staff, perfect food, close to work Cons: really none more

So What 7/12/2005

Good shows....but bad food. I had their sushi, it was warm. Should sushi be warm? The steak was NOT quality. The chef cooked my steak Medium well when I wanted it Medium Rare. The service was terribe. I got the manager's attention, but he was not interested in my feelings. Paid my bill and left hungry and mad. Pros: good area Cons: bad service, bad food more

Exceptional Quality and Service 3/7/2005

I was pleasantly suprised upon first visiting Tokyo Steakhouse. The food and service there were top notch. The chefs were not only entertaining, but the food was fantastic. If teppan wasn't enough, the sushi list provided was quite extensive as well the fish, fresh as any port city. The bar drinks were colorful and quite potent. I enjoyed the general atmosphere with live music, a varying social crowd from families to working class, and the soft aroma of food being cooked fresh off the grill. The weekends are busy, so plan to make reservations for large parties. Seems to be the new hotspot for Round Rock. I'd recommend the place to anyone who enjoys good food and a great time. Pros: Friendly Staff, Cuisine, Live Music Cons: No Austin Locations more

Not Not Not Recommended 1/1/2005

Not recommended at all. We rec'd cold undercooked food and could not get attention of waitstaff. Spoke with mgmt and we were told that they were doing us a favor by letting us in to dine. We still had to pay for food that we could not eat due to undercooking and overall temperature. Extra charges were also on final bill. We were unable to resolve situations because of uncooperative mgmt. Seems like mgmt's bad day was taken out on customers. Not recommended. Pros: Large Menu, Open Grill Cons: , Waitstaff, Traffic more
