What a great salon! I was worried when I moved here I wouldn't find a salon as good as one in nyc or sf or la so I am very happy my brother referred me here! Alisha is awesome. She's genuine, fun, a talented stylist, and I am a regular customer now! more

I received a haircut yesterday with Casey and was very pleased with the results. I did not have a photograph of my intended style with me, but she listened carefully and it turned out exactly as I had envisioned. She took the time to explain to me how she was blowdrying it and which brushes she was using so that I could do it myself at home, too. In addition, she also offered other tips such as what temperature the flat iron should be at and which products and vitamins can help my hair be healthier. I would recommend this salon to others and I'm thankful to have had a nice experience. more

I did a hair cut and my hairdresser was Casey Bhyan. I loved how she did it. It was exactly how I wanted it and how it was on the picture. She seems as a good listener and a hard worker. I'd come again for a haircut. more

I have been a faithful W Salon-er for 3 years now and honestly there is no reason to go anywhere else. They're stylists are fun, professional, and really 'get' what I'm looking for all the time. I've gone to a few different stylists for color, a cut, and even updos and everytime I leave I'm happy. My latest cut and color was done by James Clarke and I can't begin to tell you how many compliments I got for a full week! Yes I washed my hair and was able to recreate the style. Loved it! I can't end this review without metioning their spa service specifically their facials. LOVE THEM!! Ana Rodriguez has to be THE BEST facialist. Last year I was going thru some skin issues and turned to Ana for help. And let's just say the woman knows SKIN! Amazing all the time. Thank you Ana for putting 'My Best Face' forward. Finally I'm sad to see someone slander stylist Alisha. There is no way this review by 'jessicalynn77' is true. I personally know Alisha and have been one of her clients before and she is both professional and amazing. She is great! Why anyone would want to be so mean is incomprehensible. All in all this salon deserves 5 stars because aesthetically it looks great, the environment is fun and upbeat, and everyone is friendly and out going. more

I Went to the W Salon after seeing notice of awards, etc. I guess I should have done more homework on a particular stylist named Alisha whom seems to have an surplus of complaints. For some reason I was under the impression that only very good and experienced stylists worked at the W . What I got was an embarrassment. I am not vain or all into my hair but after coming out looking much worse than going in I am literally embarrassed to be in family photographs. What I wanted was a sophisticated, modern look. What I got was hick-town hair-band wannabe circa 1985. Scrunching and pointy "wings," anyone? Upon getting home my husband actually said, "What the hell?!" Not the reaction one would want! I do not enjoy giving such a harsh review, and I will say many of the employees there had cute, updated looks, but it will be daily ponytails for me until I can afford to get it fixed ... somewhere else. Alisha was quick to cut and excuse my tone but bitchy after my complaint and pretty much told me that if I don't like it, I should lose some weight and It would look better on me. I don't know much about this Salon but after reading several reviews on Alisha, I wish I would of done some research. more

I had the greatest experience with my new stylist Coy, he was the most professional, creative and FUN stylist I have had in a long time. The whole salon was amazing!!! I have been to many salons from Providence, Boston & DC....and Coy by far out styled, out colored, and out cut the others. I will be back to see Coy for my new do!!!! more

I went to this salon for the 1st time. I was so nervous after having many horrible experiences with other salons. As soon as I walked in, the smiling friendly faces put me at ease. I had my appt with nicole. She was fantastic. She listened to everything I wanted and didn't want. I wanted a beach wave originally and read that they are not so good for your hair. She achieved the same look with a perm! Could not believe it. Not only that she educated me on how to style and take care of my new hair, and the cut I wanted was just perfect. This salon is wonderful. Every single person works as a team helping each other out, and not one attitude from anyone in there. It is like they are all great friends. I am sooo happy with my results, I will be going back without a doubt! Thank you Nicole and team! more

I just moved to Rhode Island from the West Coast in April 2010 and shortly after moving here tried a hair salon close to me. Was going there for almost a year but something just wasn't quite right--cut, color--not bad, just not quite right and two things I am particular about are my hair and nails! After received a Groupon for The W Salon and reading all the wonderful reviews I decided to take a chance and venture over there from Lincoln. Very easy to get to, very accessible, and the receptionist was so forthcoming and sweet and told me exactly where to park--in the all-day $5 parking lot a couple doors down from the Providence salon! Perfect! After explaining to her my hair type, color, etc, she gave me an appt with Karen. Well...Karen was just wonderful! So sweet and she really listened and even remembered which side my hair was parted on when it came time for the cut! She needed to do a little tweaking on both the cut and color because, as I suspected, it wasn't quite right. After discussing what i wanted, we chose a hair color together (in the red family which can be tricky) and she colored and cut my hair just as I was looking for. Everyone in the shop was so friendly and the ambience felt good too. I will definitely be returning to Karen since the total experience was great, including Karen's talent in coloring and cutting my hair to a 't'!! If you're on the fence, just take a chance and go for it, you won't be disappointed! Thanks 'W' for the Groupon too! A lovely way to try a new salon! more

The W salon has two locations, one in Providence on Westminster Street near Classical High School and the other on Willett Ave in Riverside. I've been to both and was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic service provided by friendly staff. I first went to the bright, airy Riverside location for Tangled Tuesdays--an impossibly good deal--2 mini-spa services for $10! I made an appointment for a mini-facial and mini-pedi. Despite the appointment, I had to wait quite awhile for service, but it was well worth the wait. Ana, esthetician and nail technician, spent 10-15 minutes educating me about my skin and explaining why my break-out prone skin would not benefit from a mini-facial, and gave me a 20% off coupon for a full custom facial. She then whisked me over to Justin for a chair massage. 15 minutes and a relaxing shoulder massage later, I was getting a mini-pedi from James. As we were chatting, he casually mentioned that he loved to do hair like mine--to a mixed girl with impossibly curly hair, this is a statement I have never heard---ever. In desperate need of a hair cut, I decided to go for a haircut with James. So an evening of relaxation in Riverside lead to an appointment for a day of beauty at the Providence location approximately 3 weeks later. When I arrived at the Providence location, I was impressed by the urban loft feel, and the friendliness of the reception staff (Jamie). I did not have to wait at all, as Ana greeted me at the reception area and gave me a tour of the salon on my way to the facial room. After my first facial, I'm hooked! Ana is a star! She gave me the most amazing facial, paying particular attention to my problem areas and educating me about the care of my skin. Afterward, my acne prone skin felt soft and glowed like never before. James also did a great job. He washed, conditioned, cut, and styled my hair, explaining everything he was doing while giving me tips about caring for curly hair. I have to say that my hair is a little shorter than I expected, but it looks great--shiny and healthy--and I’ve gotten many compliments. I will definitely be a regular at the W salon! more

I must admit, I have never been disappointed by W salon. All the stylists are masters of their craft, but yesterday I went in a dowdy crazed mess and came out sexy and looking 10 years younger. Karen Boucher took her time and took me on like it was a joy to listen to my wishes and turn them into reality. In almost 50 years, no stylist has supported my desire for warm color and highlights until Karen. We really discussed my colors. We looked at the possibilities. She gave me expert advice. The whole time she worked on me, I felt pampered. Karen wanted me to have the perfect look as I get back in the dating scene. She was meticulous in every way, yet calm and grounded. Karen did not try to up-sell me. (None of the stylists at W do this.) She clearly loved her work and was proud of her mastery. I feel completely cared for, and I love how I look. more

I've been using the W Salon for almost a year, and I always have a great experience. I see James, and I don't give him a great deal of guidance: I permit him to use his best judgment and I'm always more than pleased with the results. In the past, I've used simple barbers in town, and I've gone back to the ones who talked the least. With James, however, conversation is easy and interesting. He has a good sense of humor and is quiet but not reticent. I always look forward to seeing him. I've begun taking my ten-year-old son to the W Salon, as well, and his hair has been getting rave reviews. The W Salon is well decorated without being flashy, and contemporary without being antiseptic. A stimulating environment. I wish I was inclined to take advantage of more the W Salon's services and products, but am glad that I'm never pressured to do so. At the W Salon, you can get a great new look and maybe a new friend. I will remain a loyal customer. more

My favorite Salon!! Jaclyn is the best!! I always have the worst experiences at salons but Jaclyn is fun, friendly and great with the scissors. My boyfriend and I wont go to any other hair stylist. Ask for Jaclyn :) more

I have never had my hair done anywhere else like the way jaclyn does it! I have never been so satisfied with a hair-do. She is simply amazing. I will tell her exaclty what I want and she will do just that. So, everyone who is sick and tired of being depressed after a terrible hair color/cut/anything I strongly advise an appointment with Jaclyn and I promise you will leave nothing but pleased. Speaking of, I need to be making my next appointment with her ASAP! more

Every time i get the chance to visit Providence I make sure to set an appointment with Jaclyn! She is an amazing stylist and every experience I've had with her has been a great one. She always understands exactly what I'm looking for, whether it's a new cut, a new color or a special treatment. She makes sure your time spent at the W Salon is a relaxing and happy one. To this day i can't find a stylist or a salon that i love more than Jaclyn and the W! more

I just moved to the Providence area and I am always nervous to get my hair done with a new stylist. I am one very picky person when it comes to my hair, i will admit. I saw Jaclyn and she did an amazing job with my color and cut, I couldn't be happier. She really took her time to talk to me about my color options. I have been to the salon twice and both times Alisha worked wonders with my hair. My hair was dry, coarse and hard to manage. After Alisha gave me a conditioning treatment my hair was transformed to soft and smooth. It was amazing, like I had someone else's hair. Alisha is very pleasant and knew just what to do with my ethnic hair. I highly recommend her and the salon. more

Alisha listens, ask questions and cuts with confidence. I have straight, very thick, hair and was stuck in a bob style for years. I was so bored, but every time I asked for layers I ended up with something bushy (and unfortunate looking) or worse, helmut head. I tried W because of the reviews, asked for someone who could cut, thick straight, hair and got Alisha and a great, modern, versatile cut. My medium-length layers take less time to dry, are easier to style and younger-looking than my old bob, and fun! Alisha listened to my hair horror stories and just knew what to do. I have the style I have always wanted but couldn't get anywhere else (even though I paid more at other salons). I've been back to see Alisha enough times to earn a free cut (which I love) and she is consistently great! If you're searching, give her a call! more

So I decided to make an appt. at the W Salon based on a woman I met in at the mall. She had very curly hair and it was perfect. so I asked her where she got her hair done. I have very curly hair and have had bad haircuts my whole life. She handed me a card and told me to go see "Nicole" and I did. I was terrified until I walked in the door. Everyone was smiling and the receptionest took my coat and even offered me a glass of wine :) Nicole greated me with a smile and a handshake and was personable. She explained everything she was going to do to me (curly hair is treated differently here). They use something called Deva and she showed me how to take care of my hair and how to style it. Well I'm hooked! Its the best haircut I have ever had and the styling products are awesome. I will be telling everyone to go see NICOLE at The W Salon. I cant wait to see her in a couple of weeks for my color! more

I have had my hair done at the "W" a few times now and I am very impressed. My stylist is Tom and he always does such an amazing job. I live in NYC now (from RI) and I still make my way back to Tom for my cut and color. I don't know what his trick is, but I have never had such a great cut before. For the first time in my life I can really just wash and go without all the fuss of styling. I have had my hair done at some pricey places in NYC and I must say Tom did a better job! The atmosphere at the salon is always warm and calming, it's a great place to escape for a couple of hours. I would definitely recommend the salon and Tom to anyone! more
