I had my first time at this salon with Kayleigh, she was awesome! From her knowledge of color and great overall insite, I was extremely satisfied. I had no idea what i wanted to do, and she helped me find the best color for my cut, complexion, and lifestyle. I will def be back to see her, and so should all of you!!! more

Just have to give kudo's to my daughter's and my stylist, Alisha (sometimes known as Chiquita!). We followed her from her last position at a now-closed salon to the "W" Salon last year and we're really glad we did! She uses what I guess might be called a "free style" technique and the cuts are always fresh, never "coiffed", which is how we like it. Inevitably, we both get asked "Who cuts your hair?", so I suppose that says it all! Thanks again, Alisha! more

The W salon has been my salon for at least 3 years and I'll keep going back for more!!!! Jon is my main stylist (love him), I go in every four weeks and I am always amazed every time I go in how upbeat and friendly everyone is. After seeing the last couple of reviews I was surprised. I have sent everyone from my mother to my neighbor to women who have stopped me to ask who does your hair... All have been happy and have been returning clients:) On occasion Tom has cut and colored my hair and I love it. After many years searching for a great salon I am so happy that i found the one. Each & every stylist knows their stuff! more

I knew I wanted a change; not in style, but in color. I was bored. My highlights were growing out and blonde and grey were following. While consulting with James as to what I should do, he suggested a brunette color with red accents. He knew what to do to make it take to the grey as well. He never made me feel rushed to hurry and choose a color; he really made me feel as if he wanted me to look spectacular. I get so many compliments now. He's also trimmed my hair before this and it turned out fabulous. I would highly recommend James for a cut and a color. You won't be disappointed. more

I got my hair cut by the new stylist, James, and it looks fantastic! I've gotten so many compliments; it's a huge improvement over my formerly somewhat drab hairstyle. I didn't have color done; just a haircut, but it made that big a difference. He was really good at finding out how I wanted to look and then translating that into a very flattering style that works with my hair type so that it's easy for me to recreate every day. And he's got a great personality--intelligent, upbeat and just a little bit sassy--so he's fun to chat with during the appointment. more

Went to the W Salon on the advice of a friend. First I looked up the reviews here on Citysearch and felt confident I would get a great cut and color. I was not disappointed. My hair looks great. My stylist was Cassie. She listened to what I wanted and I left the salon with great hair. I must say everyone there was nice and I am happy to have found a salon I like here in Providence. more

After a couple years of getting my hair done by my stylist, Jaclyn, I knew that I could trust her idea to get the Keratin treatment. I was thrilled with how much it not only tamed my hair but smoothed and put shine to it. The treatment was a few hours and Jaclyn was able to make it very relaxing. Since then I have received the treatment 3 times. On top of that, Jaclyn cuts and colors my hair, she does a great job every time: not one of those hair stylists who you specifically ask for just a 1/2 inch and they cut off 2. I've gone with a red shade, blonde highlights, and natural brown over the past couple years and I've been happy with every appointment. I love the salon's environment and would recommend her as a stylist 100%! more

Had to write a review after having a great experience. Found the W on citysearch and had the exact opposite experience as some of the recent reviewers. Felt welcomed and comfortable the minute I got to the salon. The people who checked me in got me a glass of wine while I waited. My stylist was Tommy, he gave me a beautiful cut and color. I feel I walked out with exactly what I wanted. I will go back and have already referred my sister and a friend more

I wish i could give negative stars, because i can't get my hair back! so, i am from ny and thus a transplant to the south coast, and work in providence. anyway, i wanted to find a salon that i could call "mine" in my new place, so i read all the reviews and this one seemed to have a great reputation. i made an appointment with tom, and had a pretty good first impression. he didn't chop my hair too short (albeit it was a little bit jen aniston circa friends years). The color was nice, although it DID have a reddish tint that I had specifically asked to avoid. Anyway, I made another appointment with him. I asked for long blended layers. He gave me two haircuts (one shoulder-length bowl cut) and one trim (of my hair which comes to the middle-lower back). SO GROSS! I am still in shock (as my hair has not grown out yet to have a nice looking style with my hair down). And, to top it all off, he sold me this hair product (at $16) which he didn't even know how to use, and it was so awkward! UGh, all i wanted was a nice, natural cut. more

I went to this place bases on its reviews, hoping to find a great salon. I was not even close. From the moment I arrived I was disappointed. The stylist was very young, must have just finished school. I had a cut and highlight. The cut was alright, the highlight was extreme my hair was totally bleached out, not the look I was hoping for. But because it was so dark in the salon I could not tell just how terrible the color was. Then to top it all off, I went to car my, which had a parking ticket on it...The appointment took well over 2 hours! There is not a parking lot for the salon so you must use the street parking meters. All in all, I would never go back and can't understand how there have been so many great reviews. more

I have to say- I wasn't sure about this place when I pulled up. It is located in an "interesting" area. Inside it immediately surprised me. I was greeted and then as I looked over the on sight hair products, a stylist was available to talk to me about what I might like to try with ideas for my hiar type- he was so helpful. I went to have my eye brows waxed and a facial. Ana was terrific. I have been getting facials for about ten years and this was BY FAR top 3! She is knowledgeable and it was so relaxing. The room was clean and she did a great job making sure I felt comfortable. I am moving to Massachusettes but will COME back to have this service done as well as a haircut. more

Had to write a review after my visit on Saturday. New to Providence and liked the tone of the reviews I read about the W here on citysearch I was not disappointed. I am not embarrased to admit that I am now in my 50s. I left with a style that is cute and feels youthful but is still "age appropriate". Everyone was very kind and I enjoyed my time at the salon. I will be back and have already made an appointment for my daughter before she goes back to school Pros: loved everything Cons: none more

I don't understand why this place has such good reviews on citysearch. I went yesterday for a haircut and had the most awful experience. Nicole, my stylist, was cold and borderline rude, but I thought I would give her the benefit of the doubt, given that she's a Senior Stylist and supposedly knew what she was doing. I asked my her to give me eye level side bangs and chop the rest of my hair 3-4 inches off. What did she do? She gave me FRONT bangs, which made me look like I was 10 years old, and cut everything 1-2 inches. The overall look, with the exception of the HORRDENOUSLY cut bangs, was "okay". All this took an hour and a half, by the way, which is ridiculous given that she didn't even do a good job. My mother, who has had no cosmetology training whatsoever, could cut bangs better than this woman. Given her unfriendly attitude and lack of technique (which she masks by adding a handful of styling gel to cover up mistakes), I was surprised that she's had over a decade of experience in the industry. Next time, I will just save $40 and cut my hair myself. Pros: 20% for first time customers, friendly front desk Cons: bad atmsphere,haircuts not up to par to even junior stylists more

A former friend introduced me to this salon...she came home one day with a totally different cut and color and even though I hated the choice she made for herself, I LOVED the job they did and couldn't stop myself from trying this place. Alisha is wonderful! She has awesome hair and is really down to earth. After months of going to another place and wondering how I was not conveying correctly what I wanted done, Alisha knew just what I wanted and in what way it would look great. I am moving and so sad to be leaving this great place behind! The salon itself is gorgeous and the staff friendly, they have a great waiting area, even though I am never there long, and always offer you a drink immediately. Yes, it is on street parking but you can see your car from the waiting room and I have yet to have trouble finding a spot to park. Pros: Gorgeous, professional, evening hours, accommodating! Just had a wonderful experience at W Salon's Riverside location. I was greeted promptly by Jon, the owner. He spent the time to really understand my needs and wants during my initial consultation. Jon and his two talented team members, up & coming stylists Kyle and Kayleigh, got to work on some difficult corrective coloring. I felt like a pampered princess as Jon precisely placed foils while Kyle & Kayleigh applied a customized blend of color between the foils in order to avoid damaging my hair by over-processing. Two and a half hours later, my brassy orange locks have been transformed into beautiful honey highlighted tresses, trimmed, and finished to perfection. Thanks W Salon! I've been going to the W for several years. My stylist, Tom, is a magician - I go in looking a mess and come out a glamazon! I love the separate room in the back where they do haircolor - lots of trashy magazines to pass the time (as if Tom's witty conversation weren't enough). The Riverside location is also great - open and airy, and Tom is there a couple of days per week. Head over and you will emerge a satisfied customer. I had a great experience at the W. I saw Nicole and got a cut and color. She recommended highlights to me that I love. I feel 10 years younger. It was a good experience from beginning to end. The front desk staff was very nice and you can tell the whole staff love their jobs. I had a great time. You have to try this place out. You do not know what you are missing. Recently moved to Barrington and am thrilled that I can still get the service I am used to in Providence without crossing the bridge. Nicole did my hair and the owner did my sister's hair. Went to the W last week on the recommendation of a good friend. Always afraid to try something new, but glad I did. Saw John the owner. He was wonderful. I left with the most beautiful blonde highlights and a new cut that I hadn't planned on getting. My husband says I look 10 years younger...Thanks John!!!!!! Pros: everything Cons: None!!!! more
