Bad service and bad ambiance 4/25/2010

One of the biggest upsale rip offs I have ever seen. The Big Night Out($90.00 per couple) and the rest of the trumped up menu is unnecessarily confusing. Is it to much to ask for a straight forward menu, good service and decient ambiance? more

Worst dining experience ever. 5/26/2009

Don’t bother going here unless you like to be treated rudely and called a liar. I had a gift certificate that stated it was not valid on holidays, so I called a couple of days before we were planning to go out for a special dinner to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. I asked the gentleman on the phone if they considered Memorial Day a holiday for their purposes, and he assured me that, no, the restriction only applied to big days when they had specials – like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. After getting rave reviews from my sister about the Melting Pot in Cleveland, we arrived looking forward to trying this fun dining experience for the first time. First the hostess who seated us said she didn’t think we’d be able to use the certificate, then our server repeated that message, and finally I asked to speak to the manager. I explained my phone conversation specifically verifying that we’d be able to use it, but he just kept saying that it stated right on the certificate that it couldn’t be used on holidays. When I said that someone on his staff had assured me that it wouldn’t be a problem, he told me that he didn’t have any males that were there during the day and no one would have told me that anyway. Basically, he called me a liar. I can’t attest to the quality of their food because at that point we left, but their customer service is non-existent. more

Great experience 3/4/2009

We went to the one in Chicago- it was so much fun - we had a party of two. The staff was so nice- I would highly recommend trying the Minneapolis one. It is on the expensive side - but servings are a good size so you can share each dish you order! more

V. expensive, but great for a special occasion 1/25/2007

Too many times, dinner goes just so fast. Not at the Melting Pot - you can make a whole evening out of it and feel very special. There's just not many places where you can go out to dinner for a special event like an anniversary and feel like it was money well spent. We got our evening there with a gift card, though, so it was easy for us! We're DEFINITELY going back!!! more

Melting Pot 10/22/2006

This restaurant is definitely worth five stars. The atmosphere is classy and romantic. Service is attentive but gives you privacy. The food is absolutley amazing. The Fondu theme is actually not hokey--but delicious. We enjoyed the appetizer, entree and desert special. Although very pricey it is VERY good. An excellent special occasion treat. Keep your eyes open because there is Buy one get one free entree coupon in the 2007 Entertainment book! more

Great Date Night Restaurant! 7/23/2006

The Melting Pot is a great date night restaurant. With the "dinner for two" from the menu, you get the choice of a cheese fondue, a salad, and a entree fondue. For the cheese course - I highly recommend the Wisconsin Cheese Fondue! It is excellent with the bread or the apples - I personally would skip the veggies. Even though it is very yummy - don't fill up yet - this is only the beginning! For salad - my favorite is the Calafornia Salad - the dressing is the best raspberry vinegrette I have ever had! For the entree fondue - this can be a bit confusing because you have to select the cooking style and the meat selection. We had the signature selection of meat because I am not a fan of duck and my husband really wanted some salmon. I am sure all the meat selections are yummy. For cooking style - I recommend the Mojo or Court Boullion. I personally didn't like the Coq Au Vin - but if you like red wines - you may want to give it a try. If you don't want to spend the cash to go all out - then just go out for the dessert. The best one (in my opinion) is the chocolate and marshmallow! My husband's favorite is the white chocolate and ameretto. Both are worth the drive downtown! Here is a tip - go to their website and sign up for "Club Fondue" and you will be sent a coupon for a free dessert fondue. This is a great place to spend some quality time with a loved one. Ask for the booth with the curtain by kitchen - it is very intimate! Another tip - plan to be there for 1 or more (probably more like 2 hours) since you are doing the cooking right at the table. It isn't cheap - but it is well worth it for a special occasion! Check out the full menu online at www.meltingpot.com. more
