Bad Fit for Bell Town 10/16/2007

I went to check out the Local Vine last week. I had been very hesitant, due to word of mouth around the neighborhood, and it seems as though the word of mouth was dead on. The Pretentious vibe, the bad management, and the owner who seems to have no experiance in the restraunt buisness. It was all an experiance that felt cold and un-inviting, which is rare to find in Bell Town.\r Being a resident here for 5 years now I value and cherish the local restraunts, shops and bars. To see a place with such a cold feel has been a real let down. Not to mention I caught a few of the manager's true colors as he put down his own staff, which I find intolerable. The food I would have to say was the best thing going for that place.\r The set up for the furniture, is uncomfortable just like the rest of the atmosphere.\r No I will not be going back in there, and if you do, I hope you have a better experiance.\r Pros: Staff, Food Cons: Management, cleanliness, overall attitude of the place more

It's heaven on earth for wine lovers! 10/3/2007

I love this place. I really enjoy wine. I learn something new every time I go to The Local Vine. The wine list is superb and covers everything from little known local wineries to well-known names. The staff lets customers sample too which is helpful when not sure what wine to choose. There is something for everyone - and the prices are also totally reasonable and are not marked up nearly as much as I've seen in restaurants. Can get a glass of great wine for $5 (and some very pricey ones too). The atmosphere encourages people to hang out and chat. Pros: incredible wine list, staff is helpful, reasonable prices Cons: food portions a bit small more

Best Wine Bar in Seattle 9/13/2007

Sarah Munson didn't miss a beat when she co-founded The Local Vine. This great little bar has everything to make it the perfect afterwork hotspot. The Local Vine has fabulous ambiance and customer service that would rival Nordstrom. It is perfect for a date, a gathering of co-workers or a girlie gossip session. We tried several different whites and reds while our group was there and the food fabulous as well. They have an excellent wine list. Pass up Amber and Black Bottle...check out the Local Vine, you won't regret it. Pros: Excellent, all around. more

Great wine bar - great wine and food selections in trendy location 9/6/2007

Took family to The Local Vine last weekend. I wanted to show off a good place in Seattle. Given all of the buzz about this place we thought that it would be packed. We were pleasantly surprised to find an open outdoor table. Our server was great in helping us decide on both wine and food. We ended up ordering wine flights which was a lot of fun to sample different wines. The gnocchi was execellent - and so was the steak. Can't go wrong with ma n cheese either. I will definitely be back - next time without the family! Pros: good customer service, great wine selection, good food. very convenient location Cons: getting a bit too trendy perhaps? more

Great Wine Bar with Excellent Customer Service 9/2/2007

We took some out of town visitors out for drinks to the Local Vine. I have food allergies and the server was extremely understanding and patient and went through the menu with me to give me some options on what I could order from the menu. They were happy to change a couple of the items to avoid the foods I cannot eat. He was all around attentive and very knowledgeable about the wine selection. The food was great. The tomato soup and tunablt was delicious as was the flank steak. We also love they serve food until 1:40 AM. We ate and drank all night. Overall it was a great evening with some fantastic wine and food. Pros: excellent customer service, food and wine and outdoor seating for nice weather Cons: we sat in the lougey part of the restaurant and it was slighty akward to try and eat more

Great wine selection 8/21/2007

Great selection of wine. Even though there are more than 100 wines by the glass, the menu makes it easy to select something (icons for staff favorites, organic, locally produced, etc.). Our server also helped with the selection process and seemed very knowledgeable. The brownies are a must have. Pros: extensive wine list, great menu, brownies, the fireplace on rainy days Cons: none! more

Not Impressed 8/19/2007

I was excited to check out The Local Vine after reading about the wine bar through multiple print and web articles -and, was disappointed. The environment and atmosphere is warm and inviting but missing details that would provide more comfortabiltiy to enjoy your visit there longer; ie: chairs. Our wait person was not knowledge about the menu and could not recommend a wine for me. Our red wine was served extremely warm, and they didn't seem to care when we mentioned it. For $30+ a glass of wine you would expect the wine to be served at the right temperature. We ordered the dessert and sent it back -it was horrible and the marionberry (or blackberry) dessert actually had gone bad -it tasted and smelled like mold. The cookies were burnt and hard as a brick. I like the environment -but, they need to iron out some things out. The wine menu was ok -would like to see more diversity. more

My new favorite spot 8/10/2007

It's great to have a neighborhood hang out. its even better that the neighborhood hangout has the best wine list in Seattle. Another bonus is finding a real 'grown-up' place to n Belltown. There is no hard alcohol - so no drunk kids doing shots. Instead, it attracts a nice, upscale crowd. Food is great too. Pros: very extensive wine list Cons: couldnt find a seat when we arrived and had to wait more

Best wine list in Seattle. Nice outdoor seating with bright red umbrellas. Great fireplace for cozy evening. Plus can use my computer (free wifi). Pros: best wine list, outdoor seating, wifi, fireplace Cons: seating isnt always that comfortable in spots more

Finally found the best place to go in Seattle!!! 7/31/2007

I went to The Local Vine on a date. it was the PERFECT spot to relax and chat. Not too loud so we could definitely talk. But, still so much fun!! A bit trendy (although great for people watching!). Our server was super nice and the food was good too. Will definitely be back!!!!!!! Pros: Great service & menu. Perfect date or hang-out spot. Super cool. Finally Seattle has a hip place for adults! Cons: none!!! more

Great wine, friendly staff, yummy plates 7/30/2007

I went to the Local Vine on Friday night and had a great time there. The dining area outside is perfect for warm summer evenings. Our server was very knowledgeable about wines and helped us in choosing two wonderful reds, which we paired with a couple of small plates of cheese. Each wine comes with a small plate of olives. The staff was very friendly and one of the owners visited our table which was nice. I would highly recommend this place and am going to go back soon for dinner. Their menu looks yummy and friends have said the food is wonderful. Pros: Fabulous wine list, yummy food, great service, friendly knowledgeable staff Cons: Didn't see any! more
