Best

Great choice. Awesome location, right in front of Kodak Theater Pros: Location, customer service, nice bar at the pool Cons: My room was kind of small

Worst

I had a relatively good experience with the valet staff and housekeeping, but the front desk, concierge and service staff seemend so inexperienced. It seemed as if they couldn't c...

New Decor = façade ... I miss the old place. 9/25/2006

I understand that this hotel needed a face-lift, but it has become less of an old ""Hollywood haunt"" because of it. We used to love eating cheeseburgers and drinking affordable cocktails poolside. The rooms used to be slightly Kitschy and felt like an old Hollywood hotel. Now, the Roosevelt reeks of pretention and high prices. If you have Four-hundred bucks to spend on a room and ten bucks to spend per drink, you'll be happy here. The poolside rooms have a fake Asian style decor complete with dark hardwood floors. For this reason, you will never get a roll-away bed for your sleep-over friend. Also, security is pretty tight after the pool bar closes. They'll herd you back to your patio as quickly as possible! This place was never meant to be like The Standard Hotel ... Pros: Pool, poolside rooms Cons: Over-priced more

All Purpose Escape... 8/29/2006

Although the spectral feel might just be an upshot of the spent former studio icons that often pout at the Library Bar, the Roosevelt Hotel is a must visit Hollywood destination. Given proper timing, patrons can either take refuge from the Boulevard Bustle in the dark spacious lobby interiors or visit the pool bar to soak in the Glamscape. more

Lost Hospitality!!!! 10/15/2005

When we arrived, they didn't find our reservation. We waited over an hour, to get a room!!! Should've left!!!! The girl in the front thought she was a Victoria's Secret Model and didn't have to work, just lots of attitude. Not even an offer for us to wait at the bar and have a drink, so we won't be so upset! The room was small, dark, bathroom had orange lights, the plugs didn't work, toilette didn't work, no top sheets for the bed and the icing on the cake: No extra blankets in the entire hotel!!! Nobody bothered to fix the plug. It was 18 hours of our lives, we would like to have back! Pros: Still waiting to see! Cons: service,, friendliness more

Friendly People 9/4/2005

Just got back from a Wedding at the Roosevelt and was staying there for three days. The staff is wonderful. Everyone friendly and helpful. It was interesting to see that all the rooms are different in size and layout. Our bathroom was very small, no place to put anything, but the room was the size of an apt. My folks had a smaller room, right next door, but the bathroom was the size of a small bedroom. They are still remodeling some areas....created some problems but overall was a great stay. The rooms were too modern for this old hotel. Pros: Great Staff, Valet wonderful, Good food Cons: remodeling still, dark hallways, simple rooms more

what a scam 8/29/2005

Checked in for the weekend. Asked for two beds when we made the reservation. They gave us one King. Room had just been painted, it stunk so bad that we all had headaches. To make matters worse the phone did not work so had to use cell phone to get to the fron desk. They said they caould not repair it since the engineer was off until wednesday. Asked for a new room, they said they were booked. Never again! more

Should have left it be 7/7/2005

The hotel has recently been overhauled staying fairly true to the original decor. However, the budget seems to have been spent on the LOOK of the hotel, not FEEL. Not only did I have to pay $14 for a martini but no martini glasses. We had to wait over 20m for our drinks (4 other people in bar). We had to wait 20m for our car, the valet were busy helping people in range rovers. A family actually staying at the hotel, had to remove their own bags and carry them to the front desk. Pros: decor, history, location Cons: service, valet, service more

Heavenly Hotel 11/1/2002

I have stayed at the Roosevelt saveral times and have always been so pleased by the accomodating service and staff. The Hotel is so ful of history and charm especially its haunting residents, check out the mirror by the elevator where marilyn Monroe's ghost has been seen. You have to stop by during the holidays and see the most amazing tree. One time while staying there we were upgraded 2 times and endedup in the most amazingly stunning suit. We felt like royalty. You have to see for yourself!!! Pros: historical decor, room quality, haunting history Cons: pricey for families, books up quick more

Hollywood History 6/26/2002

I'll be curious to see what they've done with this place after the current renovations are complete. My hope is that they don't try and be something their not. Though I love the Mondrian and The Standard, this is not either of them. They need to retain their 1920s elegance and just expand on it. The rooms need to be bigger. They were way too tiny for a non-boutique hotel. The main bar should be open later to accomodate strays from the nearby Hollywood and Highland complex and the Knitting Factory. The Cinegrill should stay open later as well, and it might serve them well to lower the cover charge for it after a certain time. Pros: location is good, hollywood history Cons: overpriced more
