Best

I must say once I ate here ... I will not ever go back to Ihop -Denny's... Why ??? The Breakfast club is the Best Breakfast to my soul.

Worst

I recently moved into the apartment building not too far from this Breakfast Klub and decided to treat myself to some breakfast today. The restaurant is your typical, poorly ke...

Amazing Breakfast 6/28/2009

My fiance and I went here for brunch on Sunday. We arrived at 9:45 am and we had to wait about ten minutes, which was not bad at all. However, by the time we left, the line was all the way around the building. I had the chicken and waffles, which were absolutely amazing. My fiance had eggs, sausage, and potatoes, which were also phenomenal. It was by far the best brunch we have ever had, and we weren't even drinking! Pros: Extremely good food and price. Cons: Could be a long wait, depending on the time. more

A good, solid breakfast 6/3/2009

I always eat the same thing, eggs and sides, so I can't give a full review, but what I have is very good. The place is a lot of fun and the people watching is great. I reccommend. Pros: The food Cons: Parking can be dicey more

ptuaj!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5/31/2009

Believe the hype! 4/5/2009

My wife and I recently had breakfast here. Since we were visiting from LA, we had to try a bunch of things. But whether it was the Catfish and grits, the wings and waffles or even the nice twist on the biscuits and gravy, this place puts a special spin on some good ol' down home cooking. Pros: Unique soul food Cons: parking more

Don't knock til you try it! 3/9/2009

Catfish and grits...whoever heard of that, but once you taste the breakfast club' entree... You are hooked! Yes they are pricey but you get a lot of food! Everytime I go, a carryout leaves with me. The breakfast klub is better than dennys's, ihop or whatever is commericalized! I just wish they were open longer. more

Great Catfish and grits 1/10/2009

Waited in line for 20 minutes but the line was moving pretty fast. After we placed our orders and before we even sat down our food were already at our table. That is how fast they are. The food was great. I had the wing and waffle and my husband had the catfish and grits. The grits is just perfect. The catfish and wings are a little bit on the saltier side but I love it. The potatoes are seasoned just right. The waffle and biscuit are ok. The price is not cheap but it is well worth it. They gave you a lot of food. Pros: Great Food and Friendly staff Cons: Long wait and Parking more

Excellent, but a little pricey! 12/16/2008

We went to the Breakfast Klub for the first time this morning. And I must say as far as the food was concerned we were not disappointed. The atmosphere and service was also very good. I'm only giving it 4 stars however just due to the cost. For a family of 4 (one child ate a la carte) it cost us almost $50 - yikes! I would not normally expect to pay so much for a breakfast and because of that we won't be back very often. One thing which I thought was over priced was the Breakfast Klub - $9.05, which on its own may not have been too bad, it certainly was delish, but my hubby added a side of breakfast potatoes and that added an additional $2.50. The coffee was also pricey at almost $3 per cup - I could get Starbucks for less than that. Having said that, our daughter had pancakes with fresh strawberries (an extra $1.55) but the strawberries were so delicious. Where do they get such good strawberries in the middle of December? All in all we enjoyed our visit and it will be a special treat in the future, but unfortunately could not afford to come regularly. Pros: food is delicious, service great Cons: expensive for breakfast, parking inadequate more

Best Breakfast in Houston with no frills 11/30/2008

My husband and I are breakfast connoisseurs. Our favorite meal is breakfast and when we travel we always seek out the best breakfasts places. In New York our favorite spot is Normas in Le Parker Meridien and we don't take a trip there without going there once but it's VERY pricey. A breakfast there will run you $30-$50 a person. We feel very fortunate to have a place like Breakfast Klub in Houston as it has almost the same level of food at half the price. The only thing we could hope for is the Breakfast Klub to take reservations and have a sit down restaurant but maybe then it would'nt be the same. Well to anyone looking for great breakfast and if you like French Toast mmmm there's is EXCELLENT. THey start off with a thick and sweet bread and somehow it ends up with a crispyness on the outside. Their waffles are Excellent. The eggs are great. Coffee is great! Everything is really wonderful. The negative is that you have to wait in a line and they don't have servers but for some that may be a positive. The best time to go is during the weekdays because the weekends there will be VERY long lines. Pros: Hands down the Food is superb!! The coffee is excellent! Cons: Order at the counter, no servers, long waiting and the line is generally outside which can be torture in the summer more

A novelty perhaps worth an occasional visit where the food is good and the staff is nice. 7/24/2008

The Breakfast Klub is an atmospheric upbeat down home place to enjoy your breakfast occasionally. Not a Pros: An enjoyable place to have breakfast once in a while. A good place to take out of town guests for the ambience of the place.Nice staff. Cons: Can be quite a wait in the heat to eat. more

YUM!! 7/24/2008

Wonderful, down home cooking!! Highly recommend! I had grits, biscuits and gravy and they were delicious! There is nothing upscale about this place, just great food and a friendly atmosphere. Pros: Good ole Southern cooking Cons: Line to get in gets long more

Waffles and Wings - so GOOD 6/11/2008

I was also reluctant to go to the BK, I've often driven by and seen the line outside and I thought it would be just another greasy breakfast place. Wow, was I wrong. It is SO good. The wings and waffles were amazing -- I don't think I have ever had better fried chicken anywhere! We also had the grits, which were cooked perfectly and loaded with butter. This place is definitely a treat, I crave the food almost every weekend. The line moves faster than I expected and the coffee alone was worth the wait! Pros: Food and Coffee! Cons: Parking, Closes at 2 more

DO believe the hype! 5/27/2008

For the longest time, I resisted trying the Breakfast Klub. I don't know why, but I kind of had an idea that it was over-hyped and that the food wouldn't live up to the reputation. I think I thought that because many of the people recommending the BK to me were trendy hipsters who tend to judge Houston by how Austin-ish it is or isn't (i.e., Dry Creek and the Heights good, everything else bad). Anyway, my obvious personal issues aside, I was completely blown away by how delicious the food at BK was and how friendly the staff was. Though I am usually not a fan of sweet + savory, the wings and waffles truly were like some magical combination. I'm sure it had something to do with the spicy flavor of the wings and the fact that the syrup was sweet but not too sweet. Also, the fact that the wings had clearly just come from a molten hot deep fryer didn't hurt either. It's so rare that a restaurant with a cult following like this one still takes the time to make first time visitors feel welcome, but each person we met clearly went out of his or her way to help us learn the system, point us in the right direction on the menu, and make us feel generally glad to be there. I'll definitely brave the line and you should too. Pros: Seriously, the most delicious wings anywhere Cons: The line, but who cares? You're going to get wings at the end of it more

Tasty Southern Breakfast 5/25/2008

I recently tried out this breakfast place based on the reviews and popularity. I would have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The menu is definitely southern style cooking so dont expect a refined type of cuisine. The fried chicken wings and grits/potatoes were very tasty. The eggs benedict were good and quite large portions. In fact anyone of these dishes could be split for two. The jazz background music is a nice touch and the owner/ staff were friendly and personable. The one complaint was there was minimum air conditioning which didnt bother me but my companion was bothered by the lack there of. I would recommend trying out this southern style eatery and the different types of dishes again. Pros: Food, service Cons: minimum air condiitioning & parking can be a bit tight more

Best Breakfast Ever 5/25/2008

I am here visiting from Michigan and we have already been there twice. The food and service is great. The owner also visits everyone and introduces himself. How great is that !!!! Make sure you visit this resturant when visiting Houston. You will not be disappointed. Pros: Service, Food and Cost Cons: It can be a little hard to find parking. more

Lots of Fun! 1/20/2008

My parents came to visit me and wanted to have some good breakfast food. I am new to Houston so I wasn't sure where to take them. I found the Breakfast Klub on City search and decided to try it. We were not dissapointed! My mom and I had two huge cups of coffee, choosing from their assortment of five coffees (going from smoothest to boldest). I had a HUGE omelet that was delicious, my mother had a cheesy crossaint sandwich and my Dad was very happy with his steaming heapful of buttery grits. Yes, there was a line to get in, but it moves quickly and the service more than makes up for it. The owner greeted us at the line and personally visited us at the table to chat a bit and to ensure that we were satisfied with our meals. This is probably the only resaturant in Houston that I have been to so far that I would go back to. Pros: good service, great food, lots of coffee Cons: long line more

Breakfast or Brunch...it is worth the drive! 1/2/2008

Whether it is Breakfast or Brunch...it is definitely worth the trip from the Woodlands. The yummy chicken and grits are ""to die for....the best!"" This southern gal would drive for the delightful soul food and the family atmosphere....you will simply love it! b more

Southern cookin at its best!! 12/11/2007

Breakfast Klub is a breakfast spot but i crave it all day long. i wish they were open after 2 and i definitely wish they were open on Sunday - although I commend them on standing by their principles and closing on a day that would obviously be profitable for them. The food in this place can cause a line liteally around the building sometimes but it's actually worth the wait! I've tried their famous ""Wings and Waffles."" The batter on the plump wings makes them perfect and they compliment the - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside- waffle. It's awesome!!....it might sound like an odd combination but it somehow works. This time I had their other signature dish, the ""Catfish and Grits""! Let me preface this by saying I like fried catfish and I like grits but neither are my favorite. in the case of The Breakfast Klub both are superb, and I find myself craving them now!! but their ""signature dishes aren't necessarily the thing to get though...i tried a bite of girlfriend's green omelette and house potatoes and they were every bit as good!! i don't think you can really go wrong at this place! In addition to the food, the staff is very nice and always does everything they can to make the wait (if there is one) quick and as pleasant as possible. You gotta check this place out. Pros: food friendly/helpful staff Cons: sometimes a line/ closed on Sundays more

Good breakfast, wonderful staff 8/30/2007

The line was 10 deep out the door, but not a long wait. The staff here is top notch, always making sure you have everything you need/want. The food was good too, although a bit richer than we were used to! The grits were good, but not wonderful like other reviewers stated. The catfish was yummy yum as were the wings. Give it a 4 for the staff and 3.5 for the food, 4 for the ambience, great place to people watch! My first review was rejected for some reason, not sure why, lets see if this one makes it. I would recommend this place. Pros: The staff makes it worth the trip, catfish, wings. Cons: grits taste like mine 8-( more

Classic 8/16/2007

I have visited the Breakfast Klub on several occassions, and the ambiance is very friendly and ecclectic. Yes there is a line, but the food and service is completely worth it. I have never considered breakfast a comfort food, but oh at this spot - comfort food best describes it. Anytime I have out of town guests, I take them to the Breakfast Klub. Typically when I visit a restaurant I order the same thing, but at the BK I order something different everytime because the menu is full interesting dishes. My favorite: Katfish, Eggs, and Potatoes!!!! YUM!!! Pros: Cost more

Green Eggs and Ham 8/13/2007

My wife and I went on a Saturday morning for breakfast and even though was a long line, the waiting time was not bad. The greeters and wait staff was extremely helpful, patient, and excellent. I ordered green eggs and ham, never heard of it before but it was great food. The amibance was great, we like the soft jazz music and the pictures and soft colors on the wall. I gave it four out five stars only because of the pricing. It was a little pricey for breakfast but it was worth it. Pros: Great food Ambience Cons: A little pricey more
