we bought a car from Jim for my son and he took it out the same day and blew it up, and Jim rebuilt the motor for half price and as far as i know that car is still going today years after he did the work. He's a square shooter and he takes care of his customers. more

We brought our BMW in for service after being quoted an arm, leg, and first born to get a coolant leak fixed. Jim and his crew took great care and got the job done for LESS than HALF of what BMW wanted! Prompt, honest, fair, and over all - just a great experience! Can you believe they asked me fill out a ""best of"" ballot before work was completed?!?! They also asked me to pay up front. I recently brought my car there based on all the reviews and the chronicle ad. These are two big no no's that my dad always taught me to be very leary of. I wonder how many review writers are sorry they wrote the review after they actually got their car back! I know I'm just glad I didn't fall for it. Even when the brakes part came back wrong from the parts place and I was in a hurry to get to work or have my crabby boss be mad at me again, the Auto Depot owner drove to the parts place himself and got the right pads. You probably don't see that every day. I will be back, cause I have the fender bender to get fixed and they do that too, for a resonable price. Actually a great price. I'd had a quote of $1500.00 to fix my Honda's A/C, but saw Auto Depot's ad in the Chronicle. Hey what could it hurt to get an estimate? Well... I ended up paying only $231.69 to get my freeze back at The Auto Depot. There will be no other shop for me now, so what if I live central and Auto Depot is a bit North. IT'S WORTH IT!! I really wanted to like this place too because of all the reviews. However, I regret completely ever trusting this place. My car was ready way past the promised ready date. There were still a long list of items that needed a second visit to take care of. Loaner car? There was never a loaner car for me except for one that was disgusting with no A/C. Actually, I think it was the same car car they use for the ""free shuttle!"" What really rubbed me the wrong way was the owner asking me to pay for some of the work upfront, before it had been completed! It was a total mistake taking my car there and I will never go back. The guys at Auto Depot were very quick to assess my a/c problem and fixed it within a day. They were very polite, proved that they do it for the love of the craft, and made the process quick and easy. Jim found a low mileage camry with minor rear end damage, then his experienced mechanic made sure everything was functional and safe and his bodymen used their magic wands and turned the pumpkin into a ""peach"" for this cinderella who needed a reliable car for home health work in Dallas. Jim treated me like a big brother would, in finding the perfect,safe car for me. Our country and economy need more honest businessmen like Jim. Here I am writing my belated review of Austin's Auto Depot. I got in a rear-ender and crunched up the front of my car pretty good several months back. I went to Auto Depot based on other great City Search reviews and the public does not lie! I can probably be easily pegged as really a really gullible person who doesn't know anything about cars so I am usually wary when I go in to get work done on my car. Everyone was so helpful, nice, and genuine. I knew right away that I didn't have to worry about getting ripped off. They worked with me on my payments and made the whole experience really great. I feel very comfortable trusting Auto Depot and have been back for minor things since then. As long as I live in Austin, I won't go anywhere else!!\r Thanks guys!!\r -Lauren. Auto Depot repaired our '95 Honda Accord to where we couldn't even tell it had been wrecked. We then purchased one of their vehicles for our son and have been very happy with it. Relaxed atmosphere and personable service. Highly recommended! more

Well I have to say I was pretty skeptical when I arrived, The place looked nasty and dirty, the street was ugly and the shop looked like if a gust of 20mph blew in the roof would of flew off. But, I judged a book by it cover and I was wrong. I probably thought this way because I drove 7 hours from Edinburg Tx to Austin Tx. I was going on the faith of a good car, and that's it. I was telling my friend on the way over there that I was taking a big risk on buying a car that I have only read a short paragraph about. I have to say that Will is one of the nicest most TRUSTWORTHIEST people I have ever met. The guy was super nice, and so was his staff. Great people!!!! I got there and they were washing the car already, they held the car for me over the weekend since they knew I was going to drive 7 hours. They are great people, and I got a great deal!!!!!!! GO and look at what they got to offer before you go out and buy a car, I think that I got a 20K car for half the price........... A car I have never seen only read a short paragraph on craigs list......... 7 hours........ Big risk A little bit of money....... drove home with a 350Z BIG REWARD!!! Pros: Nice People!!!! I'll be brief because this is the third time I've posted a review for these people - strangely my reviews always get deleted! I brought my car to them some time back with a leaking valve cover gasket. I was quoted a low price and somehow they broke the valve cover in the process of repair nearly doubling my cost. They claimed it was something they had never seen before...one of those ""weird Japanese"" cars. They claim to specialize in Japanese cars??? I just wanted the car fixed... When I went to pay they charged me an additional fee for using my credit card... I thought this would be the end of it. 500 miles later I notice all the oil had sprayed all over the inside of my hood. I took the car back to them to look at and their mechanic claimed the oil was coming from another worn out seal and dripping onto the valve cover. I took the car to another shop they said different, redid the valve cover at 1/4 the cost + the cleaned the mess the autodepot had caused. Don't bother with this place. I wanted to love this place so much because everything I read told me I would. The guys working there were super nice and the small job they did for me was done well. But in the end, just like every other repair shop, they screwed me on price. We talked about my options prior to service. Option A would look a little nicer but option B was cheaper. I asked for B, cheaper. When I picked up my car however, they gave me A and charged me for A. I protested and Jim ""graciously"" offered to meet me in the middle on the price. The total sum of money was by no means a bank breaker, but it's the PRINCIPLE of the thing!! I'm tired of getting ripped off by car repair shops, and was hoping this place would be different. customer service, price, down to earth... easy... cost way less than if I had replaced and painted busted passenger mirror myself ! And another customer in the shop at the time said she had great service and back up support and very happy with a pre-owned car she purchased off their lot. I bought an great little used 1997 Maxima from the Auto Depot two weeks ago. The car was very welll maintained, in great condition, drives extremely smoothly, and I am very pleased with it still.\r Customer service was excellent! i was treated with respect, even being a girl that knows nothing about cars. Jim was so friendly and willing to help and seemed genuinely concerned with my being happy with my car. I would Definately recommend that you stop in if you are looking for a used car without the worries that you would usually have buying a used vehicle.\r I will absolutely come back for repair work, should the need arise, and have recomended them to my friends and family as well.\r I was and still am extremely pleased with Auto Depot and am so glad to have been sent there by a friend of mine. more
