All Around Horrible 4/23/2008

My office loves Thai food and used to go to Thai Ginger every week. Then we watched it deplete as the food was unedible from being overcooked/soggy noodles to bland curry. We stopped going there almost a year ago. Recently my father-in-law said it was good again. Great! My husband and I tried the restaurant during my one hour lunch break. We waited 15 minutes to get a table and an hour to get our food! There was no time to eat and had to ask for it to be boxed. Once I got back to work I noticed how little food I got and the pile of rice instead. For the price paid, it was definitely not worth it - about $11/dish. The waitress kept telling us the food inspector came and that's why everything was so slow. Somehow I doubt this was really the case and they never apologized. Never again will I come back to this restaurant until they find a better chef and a better wait staff. Try the Noodle Boat in Issaquah for good Thai Food. Pros: Nothing Cons: Wait Staff, Portions, Cost, Restaurant Layout, Wait Time, Parking... Everything. more

Expensive bad food with incredibly bad service 4/19/2008

Start with the overpowering SMELL OF FECAL MATTER emanating from the men's room. Add in POOR QUALITY FOOD - bland curry, overcooked noodles, limited amount of meat . Add a dash of HAIR IN SOUP for flavor. Let customer simmer for more than 30 minutes while waiting for food to arrive, ensure wait staff ignore all attempts at inquiry. Allow customer to come to boil then ignore once again. There you have your Thai Ginger experience. The food is not that good but the staff is completely aloof and beyond caring. No, this is a dodgy place serving up mediocre fare at inflated prices with atrocious service. Cons: Fecal smell in dining area more

Awful Service 4/17/2008

I actually like the food at Thai Ginger. I liked it enough to overlook the rude waitstaff. However, this last time was the final straw. My husband and my 19 month old went. The food was good however, our waitress was so rude to me I couldn't believe it. I was in shock over it for two days! Of course my 19 month old got rice everywhere, and I did try to clean it up as much as possible. While cleaning it up, I look over and the waitress is evil eyeing me. SO MUCH that it was very uncomfortable. Then I hear her telling a group of co-workers, who are sitting at a table eating, what a big mess we made and now look at the clean up she has to do. Then as I was cleaning the highchair, she grabbed it away from me and was in a huge huff. I have never been treated so poorly in my life at a restaurant. Kids make messes. And most parents don't even try to clean it up when they leave a restaurant. I tried and evidently it didn't matter. I will never go to any Thai Ginger again. I will not support that restaurant. It is strictly banned in our home. Pros: Food is good Cons: Service is rude! more

Gnawing Experience 4/16/2008

I'm 7 1/2 months Pregnant. I was really craving for Yum Woon Sen, so a co-worker and I called to place an an order. The staff that picked up the phone was really rude, I felt really rushed. After my order was taken the staff told me 20 min. pick-up and just hung up the phone. Pros: food was ready on time Cons: human bodily parts in food more

worst meal and service ever 4/11/2008

where to begin...the service was non-existent. we were ignored until it was time to shoo us away. the bill was padded though we don't know how since it was just a total. asking for a break out ended up in a rude comment from the waitress. Pros: nothing Cons: food, service more

do not patronize this place! 3/21/2008

I had never had a waitress yell at me until tonight. I wanted my bill to reflect what i actually ordered - the waitress had mistakenly added a couple items. All I got in return was an insane Thai woman screaming at me to ""pay the damn bill or I call police!"" Cons: small, cramped place with bad lighting. worst service I have ever experienced. more

Incredibly awful service, poor quality food 2/26/2008

this place used to be a favorite but we haven't been here for almost a year. the service has really gone down hill, really, really down hill. we waited for at least 30 minutes to be seated but when we were taken around the corner to our table we saw at least 4 empty places. since nobody lfet during that time the tables had to be empty! the woman sat us right next to the bathroom. there were open tables but she told us they were reserved for other people. the three of us sat down and it took another 20 minutes to get waited on. after another long wait we got our food but the noodles were over cooked, the red curry was too, too salty, and the rice was garbage. we ate less than half and asked for the bill. there was no break down of items just a total and the total was at least $20 more than what we ordered. i aksed about this but the woman ignored . we left the amount they wanted, didn't tip and left. we'll never ever go back. you should not go here as they will gyp you. Pros: nothing Cons: cheated on bill, overdone food more

This place has good food 2/25/2008

I lived on Capitol Hill for years (many great eating establishments) and consider myself quite the critic of restaurants and food. Thai Ginger has very good Thai food and is by far the best in the area (specifically Factoria). This review is largely to refute the many hard to comprehend negative reviews I am seeing on this restaurant at this site. I have eaten at Thai Ginger in Factoria many times and have never had a poor experience. Service has always been avarage or better and the food quality is worthy of recommending to friends. Pros: Food selection and quality, prices, cozy decor Cons: parking (try around back) more

too expensive, horrid service, bad food 2/20/2008

we have been to this place many times over the years. we have noticed that the service has gone straight down the toilet - rude, inconsiderate, uncaring. the food quality has reached the point where we won't go there anymore. not sure if the place was sold to new owners or what but this place is terrible. don't waste your time or money. if you try to complain they ignore you. nuff said. Cons: service, food quality more

Hair in Food says it all 12/28/2007

The servers were just horrid. Very rude, unresponsive, couldn't care about anything. Pros: nothing Cons: really awful service, terrible food, cheated on the check more

atrocious service, abysmal atmosphere, mediocre food quality 12/26/2007

we should have read the reviews! i don't normally use reviews as i feel that dining is a very personal, particular experience - i was very wrong in the case of thai ginger. first, the place is cramped and not at all pleasant. we had a tremendous viewof the men's room - if only the sensory experience had been limited to seeing versus having to smell the chemical odors...and worse! the service though is what really makes this place a terrible restaurant. the staff were very rude, they added a 20% tip on our check for a party of three, even though their service was horrendous (no pleasantries, no treating us as guests, mistakes with our order, and worse, padding the bill with items we did not order!) Finally, the food quality was way off the mark - the two curry dishes were average but the noodles were made with sugar or honey so that they were inedible. a chicken dish was undercooked (yuck) and the waitress simply did not take it back to the kitchen when we brought this to her attention - i couldn't believe it! the final straw was that the waitress added two items to our bill, an appetizer and another entree. we mentioned this to her but when she brought out the credit card slip the total included those items PLUS a 20% tip for herself! we will NEVER go back to the thai ginger, it was a horrible experience. Cons: service, food taste and preparation, mens room smell more

Perhaps the most atrocious experience EVER! 12/24/2007

This place was recommended by colleagues. Cons: SERVICE, food quality, integrity/honesty more

Former favorite, now LEAST! 12/23/2007

I have eaten at this restaurant many dozens of times over the past 10 years. Up until recently, the food was great, the price was right and the service was fine. Unfortunately, times have changed. The past few times I have noticed that the service was poor at best (e.g. inattentive and brusk). Also, their prices have increased dramatically while the quality of the food is unpredictable. I used to think their phad Thai was the best in the Seattle area (and I've tried it at dozens of Thai restaurants), but now it is good one time, and far too sweet the next. When it is good, it can be really good. Their panang curry has had a very full and rich flavor, but tonight was thin and a bit bland. Also, beware of the 18% gratuity included for parties of 6 or more. They don't itemize the bill you receive and don't indicate that the total includes the tip. I'm sad to say I need to find a new favorite Thai restaurant. I miss their old food and service already! Pros: good location (plenty of free parking nearby) Cons: service, price more

USED to be my fave - now won't go back! 12/13/2007

Something's changed in the past year - new owners? We've gone many times to both Factoria and Redmond restaurants - our favorite Thai. My wife and I went to Factoria last Sunday around 1:00. First clue was we were the only ones there - used to be a line out the door. We were quickly seated and ordered. My wife received phad thai instead of the ordered phad see ieuw, but the server just had a blank stare when this was mentioned, so nothing was done to make it right. Spice level on both dishes was way off. Rice, which costs $2 extra per person, was dry and day-old-yellow. Their pricing is at least 20% higher than competition, which was warranted in the past. It took waving at the staff to get their attention. Never a ""thank you"". Sorry to say we won't be going back. more

Worst possible service - avoid at all costs! 12/10/2007

We had heard the food here was ok so we thought we would give it a go. This was a huge mistake! First, it took about 10 minutes for any staff member to acknowledge we had entered their establishment. After another 5 minutes wait, (there were at least 5 empty tables but no one was attempting to clean them - I guess because they were too busy talking amongst themselves) we were finally seated. Not a word of welcome, just shown to a table. We ahd to ask three times for menus. It took almost 15 minutes to pleace the order then the food took even longer to get to the table. Several attempts to get the attention of a waitress were ignored! They saw us but blew it off! Unbelievable!! Pros: Absolutely NONE Cons: terrible service, dishonest staff, mediocre food more

I don't recommend this place if you really care for service 11/30/2007

I went with my colleagues for lunch. The service is not at all good, One of my colleague asked for extra water and the waitress asked another person whether she used the glass of water or not and told him to use it. They give you the total amount in the check and not the split up and they OVER CHARGE for what you don?t order. The waitress was so rude as well all the time. more

JUST AVOID THESE GREEDY GUYS 11/30/2007

Food is ok... but service is horrible. I expected that it would be great like the thai ginger in Redmond town center. But it was a huge disaapointment for me mainly because of the extremely delayed service and the rude waitresses. They don't care for customer satisfactionservice, they can spoil your good lunch mood. When I said that the food was not good, the waitress flatly says thats how it is supposed to be. When at the time of leaving out of my frustration I told the owner that I would never recommend their restaurant, she says thats fine for me!! I will never go to that restaurant, I can bear bad food but definetely not illtreatment. more

Rudest Service I have ever experienced 11/30/2007

Pros: NOTHING Cons: WORST SERVICE more

Worst Service i've ever seen!! 11/30/2007
