Hidden Gem 7/16/2011

A hidden gem! We have been going to Taste of India for over 5 years. I've read the earlier reviews about the owners and know that their ""gruffness"" is just an initial, superficial presentation. With my family, and especially my 2 kids, they are extremely friendly and always greet us warmly. They know my kids' names, what we like to order etc. They even give them lollipops afterwards. The buffet is consistently good - with our favorites such as saag paneer, chicken tikka maasala and samosa. We also have eaten their dinners and yes, it can be made more spicy. Personally, we like the mildness at lunch because some of us are wimps when it comes to spice. They also have a buffet dinner on Tuesday nights which is very reasonably priced and good. We have eaten Indian food all over Denver and the country - this restaurant matches up to many of the best, and is especially good given the location. more

HORRIBLE 3/29/2011

This was by far our worst dining experience ever! Had the lunch buffet today, 3/29/11, and would never go back. Prior to going in, my wife said to me - Honey, there are no cars here at all; maybe this isn't a good place to eat. Jokingly I replied: Don't worry, if we get food poisoning, at least we'll get it together. The buffet was made up of 7 or 8 different dishes. Not only was most of the food not hot, it also tasted horrible. It is hard to mess up Naan; however, they also managed to get it wrong (different). We have traveled extensively and had Indian cuisine in many different countries as well as many places here in the US. I hate to give such hard critique; however, it is truly deserved here. The service was also inadequate. Not one time did our waitress stop by to see if we needed any re-fills on drinks or ask us how everything was. The Atmosphere was grotesque. TV was on showing the news................$8.95 plus tax per person seemed like a good deal. Boy, were we wrong. Bottom line is: If you want good Indian food, decent service, and a good atmosphere, go elsewhere. more

Best Taste and Price for Denver Indian Food 11/10/2008

My husband and I love good Indian food and were delighted to find this little cozy family-owned place after we moved to the area over a year ago. We've been to some of the more expensive Indian restaurants, some that are far more trendy places, but always find the food to be inferior to Taste of India. And, the price is higher at the other places. I also like the fact they have their own parking lot, and I don't have to worry about meters and circling the block to find a spot. Pros: Vegetarian thali, no long wait, easy parking, quick and efficient service more

Great neighborhood family place 7/15/2008

I'm hooked on this place. Both of us have a lot of experience with Indian food (I grew up with an Indian family) and we both LOVE it. It's inexplicably quiet/not full, but you know you've found ""authentic"" when you see Indian families there for their own celebrations. Great local gem in the Glendale neighborhood. Eat a really early lunch and come VERY hungry because you WILL end up eating until you feel like you'll pop. The menu is broad enough that everyone will find something; we usually order one combo ('thali') and one entree and end up with plenty of leftovers. The only drawback is the 24hour news playing on the TV in the corner but you'll be so happy that you won't really notice it. If you're concerned about spice then order a mango lassi to drink with your meal; I disagree with the person who posted that their food is too spicy. You can always ask for it to be mild (and they ask how you want it). more

Great food! Great service! A true mom and pop Indian restaurant! 5/22/2008

I went with 8 other people and we all loved what we ordered. The food was great, and our server, which we beleive was the owner, took care of us like only a caring mother would, running back and forth from the kitchen with our multiple orders. more

Awesome food especially for us veg-heads, not the place for drinks 3/2/2008

I had my first Indian food experience at Taste of India and overall it was a good experience. In the beginning it seemed as if service was going to be terrible, but the older woman (I'm assuming one of the owners) apparently just needs to warm up to you. I ordered a Crown and Coke and I'm pretty sure there was a 1/2 oz of Crown in it at most (as I saw her pour, and experienced the lack of taste). And no ice?! But, I'm a vegetarian and I have to say the mixed vegetables were fabulous. So much so that I continued to stuff myself well after I was full. The spices were impeccable. It's very quiet (not very busy at all) so definitely the place to go if you're in a hurry and want some quick, yummy, inexpensive Indian food! Pros: Quick, cheap, good food Cons: Just have to warm up to the staff more

Good Buffet / Convenient 10/6/2006

I've been here several times - ordered both off the menu and had the buffet. Good food, okay service. The older male owner is pretty crabby, but his wife is nice. It's a great buffet, easy access from Leetsdale, easy parking and close to home. I've had better food, but can't beat the convenience. There are rarely more than one or two tables any time I've been there, so service is fairly quick. I wouldn't drive out of my way for this, but good basic Indian food. Pros: Decent food Cons: Oddly quiet atmosphere more

POOR EXPERIENCE 9/16/2006

We thought the service was extremely rude. The plates and silverware was not washed, we decided to leave but due to rush hour decided to order and settle for what was to come. Pros: parking Cons: poor quality food more

It was a great dining experience. One of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten at. The food was delicious, had a nice balance of spices. Great place to go in summer time, as it is the only Indian restaurant with a deck outside of all the Indian restaurant I have visited. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Friendly Service more
