I cannot stress enough how much I would discourage ANYONE from engaging with this ""business."" I ordered a sofa with the anticipated completion date being approximately 30 days later. I received that sofa EXACTLY FOUR MONTHS later. Not only was I NEVER offered an apology but Tarheel NEVER took responsibility for multiple errors and miscommunications. The only thing I was able to count on Tarheel for was their constant blaming of Basset (the actual manufacturer of the sofa I ordered). I had used Tarheel three times in the past and referred a friend to them as well but my customer history and continued business meant nothing to them. Kirsti was my point of contact and she is possibly one of THE MOST unprofessional people I have ever had to interact with. Of the nearly dozen times I expected return phone calls from her, she called ONCE. Every other time I had to call her. On one particularly infuriating phone call, it had been over a week since we last spoke and she had promised to return my phone call the following day -- when I called and asked to speak to Kirsti the person who answered the phone said they'd transfer me, and as this was occurring I realized it was Kirsti, I was transferred into her voicemail! I immediately called back and said, ""Kirsti, I just called to speak with you and I believe you transferred me into your voicemail."" Her response was, ""Ma'am, I HAVE CUSTOMERS!"" I told her she could've just said that. The lack of professionalism and accountability Kirsti displayed throughout the course of four months was shocking. As things began to start going down hill I googled the company and found they already have 11 complaints with the Better Business Bureau (soon to be 12). Please save yourself the heartache and go elsewhere. I would've rather paid full price and had my sofa direct from Bassett within 30 days than deal with the constant run around, frustration and lack of professionalism exhibited by Tarheel than save a couple bucks.\r more

Purchased Flexsteel sofa and loveseat from these guys a year ago. After about 8-9 months the sofa began squeaking. After several attempts they had someone come to my home to repair. Repairs were helpful. Still squeaked. Several calls later they came to my home, picked up my sofa, sent it from North Carolina to Iowa for repairs. I sat on the living room floor for two months while they attempted to repair. Delivered sofa back to me unrepaired. Owner (Tommy Hillbilly) refused to call me despite several request from me. His business philosophy is simple avoidance. Made contact with Eastern Sales Manager of Flexsteel who agreed to refund Tommy's money back to Tarheel but said it was still up to Tarheel as to how they wanted to handle the situation. Still no call from Tommy Hillbilly. He had a customer service agent send as email attempting to railroad me into a store credit for his worthless store for more Fleexsteel of ""equal or lesser value."" I emplore you, please be the customer that I helped save an enormous headache from having to deal with Tommy Hillbilly and company.\r \r This is soooooo the short version of the story.\r \r Please, please, please, do not use this so called ""business"" to purchase any furnishings for your home. \r \r By the way, this is the first review I have ever written about any business.\r \r Lets hope the the NC Attorney General's office can be of assistance. Ongoing Experience 10/6/2009

I ordered 2 chairs and 1 sofa, all 3 Flexsteel. I was hesitant on the ordering part, putting money down on something you can't see first. I was assured though by 3 sales people not to worry. First that it is Flexsteel furniture, high quality and second that it is inspected as it comes off the truck and if there is anything wrong it goes back to the factory and I'm no money out. I get the call, furniture is in, and I need to send the rest of payment. I asked if it was all in good shape and was told yes. It was all inspected, in excellent shape and ready to ship. I send money. Furniture arrives at my home, couch never leaves the truck, frame is seperated, tearing upholstery, open seam on cushion and rear pillows not sewn on straight. The boxes the chairs are in, were never opened for a inspection, chairs have open seams, seating surfaces are breaking down and they creak like they are 200 years old. They had the sofa back in Hudson for repairs for 4 months, never finished the repairs and sent the sofa back to me. The chairs are still not repaired yet either, wrong parts come in, wrong colored upholstered parts, noy enough parts or none at all. It's almost 8 months now since I first placed order. Furniture Experience Lack Luster 3/25/2006

My initial contact was great. Then once I had received the quote for furniture and shipping, things went down hill. The shipper I had agreed to (which factors into quote) was deemed to be unsatisfactory. I paid a lot more for shipping and furniture came severely damaged. Company claimed they were ordering a new piece but the piece was repaired and shipper tried to schedule delivery of 'fixed' piece. I paid 3 months ago and still no chest.
