Best

I read some other reviews here about other colorists at Taboo - I didn't realize they had so many good ones because I know they have my favorite!!! have gone to Ernie on and off...

Worst

I had to wait for a while to see how i i am gonna feel about my hair, but everytime the feeling is the same. I dont like the cut! this is the first time in a long time that i hate...

ERIC is amazing! 4/4/2008

I have been to so many hair dressers, and they always give me the same boring hair cut. I started going to ERIC about a year ago, and he always cuts and styles my hair so that it is edgy, but sophisticated! He is very honest with me about what will or will not look good, and is always up to date on what is the latest and greatest in hair trends. I always know that I can trust Eric to give me a cut that is stylish and suits my personal face and style. I recommended Eric to my boss, who has extremely curly hair, and she says its the best hair cut she's ever had for curly hair. Thanks Eric! more

Eric wins my vote for top stylist! 1/20/2008

He 's young, he's talented and truly listens. Great combo for a terrific stylist. I have very short hair and he does an amazing precision cut with it. The compliments never stop. Thanks Eric, you rock! Pros: The place to go for best cuts and color. Amazing Staff and owner more

Look out Edward Scissor hands 1/2/2008

As a hairdresser myself it is extremely difficult to find someone who meets my expectations in both quality and customer service, however, I must say that Eric John at Taboo salon is not only extremely talented, but well versed in customer service. Eric has been doing my hair for three years now and has given me every haircut from Ashley Simpsons pre-nose-job rocker shag to Victoria Beckams polished yet sleek A-line bob. Though I work in a pretty posh salon in Beverly hills with some amazing hairdressers I would never let anyone touch my hair but Eric.\r If you are looking for a hairdresser, or just wanna try something new, I highly recommend Eric John for an extreme ego boost!!!!! Pros: friendly staff more

Best Color And Cut In The West!!! 11/16/2007

I have stayed away from hair salons since a bad experience years ago. I saw a woman with fabulous hair one day, and I had to ask her who did her hair. She told me Madison and Esther at Taboo does her hair. Well, I got up enough courage to make an appointment. I'm so glad that I did. Madison did my highlights and Esther cut my hair. The color turned out amazing. It really brightened up my face and made my skin look softer. And the cut was shaped really well for my face. They both understood my fear and were very patient with me. I never realized just how good my hair can look. The prices were fairly reasonable for the quality of the work. It goes to show that you really do get what you pay for. Pros: quality, friendliness Cons: parking more

I love my new do- thank you Esther! 11/12/2007

I needed a haircut badly but didn't know where to go. I just moved to the area and was looking for a new stylist. A friend recommended I go see Esther. She was SUPER nice and gave me a new creative cut that I just lovvvve! I get compliments on it all the time and my husband thinks I look hot. Definitely would recommed her to anyone. Pros: great location more

Awesome Salon: Esther is fantastic! 11/11/2007

I've been to getting my haircut from Esther for the past 2 years. She's very pleasant and easy to talk to. I walk in not knowing what I want to do to my hair and each time I leave extremely happy. Even months after my cut, my co-workers and friends are still complimenting my hair. Pros: stylist, friendly staff, clean more

Best service! 11/5/2007

Gill, owner, stylist, has cut my hair since Taboo opened. I have always been impressed with the way she cuts my hair; it is consistently stylish and I get what I ask for.\r Also, Aaron is a great colorist at Taboo. Pros: good service, graet ambiance, stylish, modern and cool! more

Ernie is the best 9/13/2007

I looked many places for a colorist; and mostly got the brassy look that we all know. My hometown colorist told me to find a Goldwell Salon, and I am so thankful that I did! Ernie is an amazing colorist! He is so precise and will always make the color look natural. You can tell that he loves what he does and always has a smile waiting. He makes you feel so sepcial and relaxed, and I always leave happy. Yeah Ernie! more

A kinder, gentler quality salon 3/1/2007

When I first moved to town I tried a few different hair salons. I was willing to pay for good stylists and colorists. I went to several places that were uber-trendy, very expensive, and not that nice. In fact, several of them were mean to me, as if I was wasting their time! Taboo was welcoming from the beginning. The people who work there treat you right and generally want you to have a good experience. I go to Madison for my color and Erik for my cuts and styling. They are both fun and interesting people who listen to what you want without getting frustrated. The overall atmosphere in Taboo is warm and professional. I have found my home. more

Excellent Salon: Amazing Stylist 12/12/2006

If you have read the other reviews, you will easily see that Taboo is a highly rated salon, and Erik is a very talented stylist. I have seen 9 different stylists in 4 different cities over the past 5 years, and Erik takes the cake. He has cut my hair twice now, and both times he has done an amazing job! He really takes the time to make sure you are getting what you want, while also complementing your natural looks and style. And Taboo has a very friendly and comfortable atmosphere, with knowledgeable staff and excellent service. I highly recommend both Erik and Taboo Salon. Pros: Service, Skill, Atmostphere more

Best hair cut I have ever had and highly recommend Melody! 9/11/2006

I highly recommend the salon. Melody was my hair stylist and it was the best cut. I live in Louisiana now and can't find anyone to cut my hair the same (even at expensive places). She did just what I wanted and the hair cut even grew out well; which is really weird. A+++ more

best hair color this side of the Mississippi 7/6/2006

Ernie is one of the colorists here and the man is a GENIUS. i have followed him to three salons and now he's at Taboo. He gives me perfect, Jennifer Aniston-esque highlights every 3 months that are so good that no one knows I dye my hair. The salon itself isn't exactly chic, but it gets the job done, and with a smile. The only bummer is an awful parking situation, but Ernie's magic is utterly worth it. more

Creative Artistry ... 6/30/2006

is the best way to describe Eric and Madison at the TABOO Hair Salon! \r \r Eric is an artistic genius in the way that he will look at your overall 'style', face shape and listen intuitively to your wants and/or concerns in a haircut. The way he cuts, shapes and creates leaves a finished product which is absolutely ""off the charts""! I have been to TABOO now 4 times and would not go anywhere else. Eric is definately at the top of his field and I recommend him to everyone!!\r \r Madison as a colorist is phenomenal in her understanding and use of color shades to the skin tone reflecting a beautiful overall picture. Her professionalism with the shine of her warm personality definitely compliments and matches the excellence in her work!\r \r I recommend TABOO with flying colors!!! more

pretty bad haircut 6/15/2006

I would not recommend this place at all. I tried this place on a whim while I was passing by in the area and not only was the space unimpressive but more importantly the man who cut my hair had an unsteady hand. He seemed unsure and my haircut did not come out anything like I had wanted. Now my hair is unmanageable and looks horrible; I am desperately waiting for it to grow out so I can get it cut somewhere else. Word of advice...don't go here if you want a good haircut!! Pros: people were nice Cons: bad haircut more

Taboo, a great place! 5/3/2006

In past three years, I had been looking for the right hairdresser. Got bad cuts from two hairdressers in Santa Monica. I felt so frustrated with myself for not finding one. Finally, I met her at a party briefly. She mentioned her job and I knew she must be the one. Went there yesterday to have Sandra to cut my hair. Yes, she is the right one! THUMBS UP! I will go to her from now on... smile! more

I found a hairdresser! 3/15/2006

it took forever, but i finally found a hairdresser i like. my friend had her hair colored at taboo by ernie & was happy with it. i called to set up an appointment with him for a cut, but found out he doesn't cut hair. i really needed a cut & the receptionist made an appointment with the next available stylist. i just needed a cut bad, so i didn't care who it was. but, kristen (sp?) was my stylist & she was great. she did a really great job & was very sweet. i've gone to more expensive places, but i just really liked the way she cut it. i definitely recommend her. more

taboo 2/15/2006

I was very pleased with Taboo. I had my hair colored at another place(cheaper) And my hair was brassey gold. The colorist (ernie) spent a long time with the consultation and put dark and light highlights in. I had a cut with eric , I felt like I was in good hands. The end result was just what I wanted. The color was more expensive than I usually pay but he spent a long time on it. I felt very comfortable and will go there again. wendy. more

This is the place 4/1/2005

My girlfriend turned me on to Taboo. She was always raving about it so I decided to try it. She was right and I will never switch. Pros: Stylists, Price, Facilities more
