Swifty's Is Great For Printing! 9/20/2009

I write, do the layout for and print my own independent magazine and I have been going to Swifty's in downtown Seattle for at least six or seven years now. Their printing is always of the highest quality, cheaper than FedEx Kinko's, and it's always nice to patronize a more local business. more

Ruined book 3/31/2009

I needed a copy of an 1896 reprinted book trimmed down on three sides. The book itself was about this size of a textbook, however the actual print was centered and about 1/2 the size. I needed about 1"" taken off on 3 sides of the book, while retaining the original binding. The man that helped me cut off all four sides of the book, resulting in 400+ loose pages. When he brought it out from the back I said that this was not what I had asked for, and I had specifically said to keep the binding. He said that no, I had asked for all four sides to be taken off. (Why I would say this, I have no idea) I asked if he could rebind the ""book"" and he said yes, for an additional charge AND it would now be bound with a plastic spiral binding. I said I did not think it was right for him to charge me for this, as he obviously was the one in error. He proceeded to again (literally) yell at me saying that I had never wanted to pay for the trimming of the book and that I had just wanted to come in there and get it for free and kept accusing me of telling him to take off the binding. I said I was more than willing to pay for a job done right, but he was not even offering to correct the error. He kept saying that I was lying and then turned his back on me and walked away. At no point did he want to correct the error (without an additional charge), or even apologize for a misunderstanding. He immediately became aggressive and accusatory. He did not want to work with us to find a solution. I would not want to work with them on any sort of actual print jobs. They have also lost my company's business. I cannot believe a competent printer would not double check his work before ruining a book. I now have 400+ loose pages, and I hope that Kinko's will be able to finish this job. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: Do not listen, ruin work, customer is always wrong more

Poor Work, Worse Follow-Through 6/26/2007

I decided to have my wedding invitations printed at Swifty, because they do a nice job on my business cards. I was surprised that it would cost be $440 to print my files onto my stationery, but, because they use a press and not a printer, I thought the quality would be worth the price. Pros: None. Cons: Poor workmanship, worse attitude. more
