most authentic chinese food in Austin! more

LOVE it. . . 5/5/2011

I absolutely LOVE Suzi's China Grill! I have never ever had issue with the service or the food! I was actually going so often, that my server knew me by name and brought me comped egg rolls (which were not on the menu) as well as lettuce wraps! Most of the time I didn't even have to tell my waiter what I wanted, and as soon as we were seated, our drinks were already on the table without us asking, he would turn to me and say blah blah blah today? and my food would be out in no time! more

Never going back! 3/5/2011

I will never go back to any of their locations. I recently went with a group of friends at 10:15pm. We were greeted with open arms by someone I believe to be one of the owners, Suzie. That pretense of being welcomed quickly disappeared as we sat down and the waiter started to rush us along saying that the kitchen was closing very soon. Why pretend to welcome us in the first place when they obviously resented having to cook our meals and serve us? Just tell us the truth up front and we would have been very happy to go somewhere else. Many of the items on the menu were not available. When the food came, two of the tempura meals were cold, couldn't be eaten and were sent back. Of course the chef was gone so we were out of luck in getting any more food. By that time, we had all lost our appetite and couldn't get out of the place fast enough. The bartender / owner was full of nasty hostility as we waited to pay our bills. I have never experienced such unpleasantness coming from the owner of a restaurant. more

What an unpleasant experience 3/5/2011

I was in a party of 8 at Suzi's. From the minute we sat down they were trying to get us out the door. We got there about 15 minutes before their posted closing time. A couple in our party ordered 3 items plus sake. Only when the food was presented did the waiter tell them that one of the items wasn't available. The two remaining orders were plated on a single(!) plate and were cold when they should be served hot. The food was sent back. The waiter said the kitchen was now closed, the cook had left and no more food could be ordered. At that point we asked for to go containers and the bill. The couple's sake was on the bill. When asked that it to be removed, the waiter went to the owner in the back. We could hear his reply? "Tell them to come back here and talk to me!" What an unpleasant experience. I'll never go there again. more

Terrible Dining Experience 3/5/2011

If you are looking for a pleasant place to eat and converse after listening to a lovely classical music concert, this is not the place to go. more

Terrible Service! Owner Rude! 3/4/2011

This is to describe a very bad experience that my wife and I, accompanied by six other members of our church, have just had at Suzi's at Shoal Creek Blvd. more

Great Chinese Food, Horrible Sushi 11/6/2010

I love their Macadamia Chicken and the Chinese food I've had there has been very good. Their sushi, however, was HORRIBLE. We didn't even finish it and that is really saying something for us as we are not sushi snobs. Definitely go there for the Chinese but definitely skip the sushi! more

Sad Day for Chinese Food 6/25/2010

I was searching for a new place for chinese food, boy was this a bad idea. No real taste and a no return for me. Pros: Service OK Cons: Food was just bad! more

Always good, cheap lunches and fast in and out 4/18/2009

good lunch portions, cheap and great food to boot. South Lamar is a great location and they are always very nice. Suzis has more than one location, but this one is the best, the cleanest and the best options for lunches. more

Suzi's is okay! 8/20/2008

I would recommend this place for lunch only! All lunch specials come with a dish, your choice of soup, egg roll or crab rangoon, and rice! Prices are fairly decent at lunch. Pros: Great lunch menu Cons: customer service is okay, not the best! more

Ughh...not very good 7/11/2008

Went with my boyfriend on a recent Friday night...we are not super picky eaters and we were disappointed by Suzi's. Tried to order steamed veggie dumplings and were told that it would take 20 minutes. So we ordered the fried spring rolls instead. They were decent, if a little greasy, so we were hopeful about our entrees. Pros: spacious, ample seating, decent service Cons: sub-par quality, expensive more

used to love suzi's. 6/4/2008

Suzi's used to be my favorite place for Chinese, but either I've gotten pickier or it's changed. The food doesn't seem as fresh anymore, but still has the same prices. more

Outstanding wonton soup 8/16/2006

We go to Suzi's on a regular basis because the food is great, the service is good and the atmosphere is nice. They have the best wonton soup I've had and the Basil Garlic Shrimp is excellent. Pros: Good, fresh Chinese food in a nice setting more

The sushi here is not very good 1/11/2006

The sushi tasted chlorinated and the noodles we ordered were bland and very soggy. I will not be eating here again. more

lousy chinese food 12/21/2005

My girlfriend and I ordered mostly from the Chinese menu and it wasn't terrible but it was very unexciting. The Firecracker Prawns, for example, were just prawns with diced raw onion and slightly spicy bright red sweet & sour sauce. I also had a couple of pieces of sushi, which were pretty good. We might go back again to try more sushi, but we won't be going back for Chinese food. Pros: attractive space Cons: lousy chinese food, brusk service more

Very Very Good 8/11/2004

Very Very Good, exceptionally high quality food, preperation and presentation are as good as it gets in Austin. Service was also very crisp and efficient. Portion sizes were perfect and flavors were properly executed and well balanced. Also features an excellent atmosphere. An exceptionally pleasent dining experience , is somewhat more expensive than many other chinese restaurants in Austin, but well worth the extra money. A very good place to entertain a date, family, clients or out of town company. Pros: Good Parking, groups more

Very "American" 7/23/2004

This food was fancy and looked pretty but wasn't very "Chinese." But it's a safe place to eat if you're not an experienced Chinese food afficionado. Pros: Atmosphere more

MSG ALERT 10/30/2003

I was just at Suzi's for lunch. After I paid for my lunch special takeout, the hostess told me that the food is prepared with MSG. Tips for vegetarians and the health conscious: Pros: Seems clean, Fast service Cons: MSG MSG MSG more

Yuck 6/13/2003

Our dinners tasted awful. My date and I actually got up and left during the main course because we just couldn't eat our food. more
