Will Always Be Remembered 8/6/2008

Unfortunately this gem of a Mexican restaurant is no longer with us. What happened? I wish I knew. My wife, sister in law and her son were in town from Paris, France and we all were hungry for south of the border eats. And my wife suggested we go to El Jarrito and low and behold what do we find in its place? A Korean soup joint. So for all of you with fond memories of El Jarrito on Olympic, hold on to them because it is no longer there. It will be missed. Pros: Small, home style feel. Great service. Cons: No longer there. more

Avoid If you have expectations 9/14/2006

I was very disaapointed by the small family establishment. The service was promt. the waitress \r nice. but the food sucked. First my two little girls were served uncooked meat. If meat is pink, it is not cooked!!!! case closed. Secondly, The orchata (mexicn rice water) was warm, like there was an ice shortage. The 7-UP which came from a can, tasted funny. How could I make that up. The stake which I ordered medium was overcooked. The last straw was when I ordered takeout while I was having my dinner and It was not added to my existing tab. On the way out I was stopped for trying to walk out with my takeout. It was supposed to be a fun birthday dinner, instead it was a sad one. I went on september 15th\r Pros: Service Cons: Food Quality more

felt El Jarrito needed a current review 10/28/2005

I went to El Jarrito on Tuesday 10/25/05 for the first time, after a friend told me the food was great. She was correct! I went around 12:30 and ther service was good and the server even took the time and was pleasant to answer my questions about the items on the menu - with the place packed. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere! Will be going back this Sunday with a group, it was that good!! Pros: food, service more

When You Want the Real Thing... 5/22/2004

El Jarrito has the most authentic Mexican food bar none. Try their cocido (a chunky beef soup) but make sure to get their early, before it runs out! Also great: the carnitas and machaca. Avoid fajitas -- that's not the sort of Mexican this place is about. Finish off with some flan and Mexican hot chocolate. Pros: Great Food more

GREAT FOOD!! 12/15/2002

This restaurant offers authentic mexican food w/o charging an arm and a leg for it. There is a parking lot in back, and quick carry-out service available. I love picking up dinner on the way home from work! The atmosphere is not fancy, but the cooking more than makes up for it. Pros: great food, authentic more

  • Surawon Tofu House is a Tofu and noodles restaurant in Koreatown, Los Angeles specializing in Korean tofu, delicious noodle dishes and Housemade (in-house) Organic Tofu. Our house-made tofu is made from organic, non-GMO soybeans. What makes us unique is that we offer tofu made from either the standard yellow soybeans or from black soybeans. Black soybeans have more antioxidants and are more effective in cutting cholesterol than yellow soybeans. Our house-made tofu also contains more soybeans than commercial tofu. In addition, we do not use any emulsifiers or additives. As such, our tofu yields a nuttier and more savory flavor. We hope you enjoy our house-made tofu in all our tofu dishes. Our noodles are all house-made as well.
