Do NOT stay here - book the Cabins at Strawberry if availabl 2/6/2011

If I could give it no or negative stars, I would. Do NOT stay here. The proprietors are worst than incompetent. I had called to book a room here because we had stayed at the Cabins at Strawberry right down the road and loved the location. I was looking for a 2-BR cabin for our family of four plus another family of four. The gentleman who answered the phone said, he had a suite with 1 BR upstairs that had 2 queen beds and another room downstairs with 2 fold-out futon couches. I confirmed, "Oh, 2 bedrooms" and he said, "How many people do you have?" I said that we had 4 adults and 4 kids under 5 in our party and he indicated that the room would be large enough. Well, we get there and not only are there not 2BRs, the upstairs BR has a queen bed and a roll-out cot. Additionally, the "2nd BR" was the living room w/ 2 futon couches. The kitchen was also missing some basic necessities such as a cutting knife, colandar, and eating bowls - making it difficult to truly cook here. I mentioned to the proprietor that we had expected a 2nd BR given that the price was $190 vs. the $250 we had paid for 3BR at the Cabins at Strawberry. If the man had been gracious and apologized for the misunderstanding, I might have chalked it up to "Live and learn." But the way he responded to my comments, I realized that he knew exactly what he had done - that is, LIED, to us - and for that, I am posting my negative review everywhere more

Great Stay Overall! 11/8/2010

Just got back from a two day stay at the Inn. Yes, the atmosphere has certainly changed! the evening bartender Kevin, is a doll. VERY SWEET and helpful!) it is a very beautiful area and I feel it is worth the $120.00 bucks a night. Please note that they are doing a lot of construction at this time. Hopefully you will want to rise early to fish or hike instead of SLEEP! P.S. The dinners we had at Pinecrest Lake were excellent! Great cook. more

Come here to getaway 10/29/2010

I haven't stayed overnite at the Inn for a long time, but we eat there on a fairly regular basis. We have a cabin in the area and there are just a few places to eat in Strawberry. We keep trying though because the cooks change regularly. It is hard to keep a business going year round due to the seasonal aspect of the area.Breakfast is usually the best meal I have had there. Anyway, there are tons of great cabins to rent and the area is a undiscovered gem. Just leave your 'city' crap at home. Kick back, relax, hike, fish, ski, swim and listen to nature. more

Strawberry Inn 10/12/2010

My father booked rooms at the Strawberry Inn for our extended family of 16 people, 8 of which are young children during the New Year's week break. It is a clean, standard hotel. The majority of our party was downstairs where the sparse, but adequate rooms consisted of two beds, a flat surface of some sort (some had a table, some had a wide window ledge), tv, dresser, and bathroom. All was clean, no sightings of bugs or mold. I would recommend going back on Highway 108 and visiting Mia's Pizza or La Morenita, which are right next to each other in Cold Springs. All in all, the people were nice. more

Very pleaset stay and people 10/8/2010

the employees were pleasant. They are europeon so there was some difference in way of communicating/understanding but it was not insurmountable. The location is fantastic, the grounds neat and the scenery divine. The Inn itself was cute and clean. The room was simply furnished and not luxurious but at least not tacky and dark like many cabins, it was bright and clean. The linens were beautiful, I think that was my favorite thing about the room. The food is the restaurant was not epicurean but it wasn't bad for what it was.Overall the stay was enjoyable and I would stay again and recommed the inn to others. more

Charming place 10/7/2010

WE just got from 3 days of snow fun up and around Strawberry. The hotel is charming a nice. The pro's are that it was quiet most of the time. We stayed on the top floor so the noise from the bar and restaurant did disturb us. An ice machine would have been nicer then going down the bar and have to use a Picher. The service was good. The place for dinner is Mia's in Cold springs about 10 minutes down the road. Great food. I think summer time their are allot more things to do around Strawberry. All in all would I return? Yes I would. Nice place to sleep. more

YOU NEED TO GO TO STRAWBERRY INN 9/29/2010

GO TO STRAWBERRY INN ON Hwy 108 in Strawberry, Ca. I had a wonderful experience. I made a reservation just for one night, but stayed three nights. My room was super clean with a river view. The paintings on the Hotel walls are delightful and entertaining for children of all ages. The owners touch and care shows everywhere. I am vegetarian and their restaurant menu is limited, but the owner made me special dishes just for my diet. I was impressed with the entire place. You must try too. more

GO THERE 9/28/2010

I was driving my truck back home to Bridgeport on Highway 108 by the Strawberry store hoping to buy something. They were closed. It was around 10pm. Across the road i saw Strawberry Inn Hotel and restaurant. They just closed and were locking the door. I told them about my "hungry" situation. The owner said that they cannot let me go so far without eating. She unlocked the door and made me a pizza to go . She offered me to stay in the hotel over night free, just because I told her I was in Iraq. Unfortunatley i had to go home. my son had firts day o pre-school and i promised to be there. What a SERVICE!!!!!!!!! Go there, They are still goo people out there! Also, i saw just the bar area, but very, very nice place. more
