Love this place!!! I have taken all of my animals here for years and I especially love Dr Hackett. The staff is always very friendly and the prices are reasonable. more

No thank you. These people are exceptionally rude. Never again. I'd rather pay the money that I'd be ""saving"" to have an enjoyable experience. Not even that inexpensive. more

We have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about Stage Rd. Vets & Staff! We have been to several other local vets and this is hands down the BEST! Caring staff and excellent care is what our 2 cats and 2 dogs have gotten. All of our pets are rescues & had health issues, heartworm, dental disease, etc.. Both are now happy, healthy pets! When our pets need checkups or surgery the pricing is upfront & clear...no added expenses. They check on our pets personally and even kept our kitty an extra day when it was best for her...so they REALLY CARE about pets and their families. The Dr. even took time to sit with me and go over all my post-op question for our barely 5lb senior bichon-poo. You won't find fancy frills, but all of my friends with ""boutique"" dogs bring them here...as well as my friends with farm dogs. We drive 30min. to get affordable, quality health care for our pets and it's well worth it! more

Will never come back! 4/4/2012

Thought this was a good vet but was charged for services that were not necessary and was then told that I would not get my dog till the bill was paid. I know many people who leave there with outstanding balances, but for some reason I was not treated with that same respect. I had every intention of coming back but I guess that did not matter. They are getting too big to care and I would never leave my dogs in their hands EVER again. Horrible horrible people. more

Rude Rude Rude 4/2/2012

I have taken my dogs to this hospital many times in the past few years because their prices for shots are reasonable. The staff had never been overly personable but thats fine, the prices were worth the unpleasant personnel. However they went too far this time, they were disrespectful and when walking in didn't even know we had an appointment, even though they were doing a serious treatment. When I called later in the day I found out that they had not even done the treatment yet. I live 45 min away and needed to pick her up by the end of the work day and they had not even done the treatment yet. They were supposed to monitor the dog during the day but if the treatment isn't even done until the afternoon then I am not sure how they were going to monitor her if I was returning in just a few hours. They obviously just wanted to be able to charge what they want and do whatever job they wanted to do. That doesn't work for me especially given the situation I am in. I was then told that I would not find anywhere else to do the treatment for the same price (which I did), so they basically try to charge a very low price so that people continue to come back for their prices. Thats what they are...CHEAP! Cheap prices and cheap services. If you truly care about your animal I would not advise going here. You wouldn't find a cheap doctor for your children and I hope you wouldn't for your pet either. I will no longer give them my business and I hope you don't either. more

Wonderful 3/26/2012

Wilson found us! When Wilson came to us his previous Momm and Dad had not taken very good care of him. we took him to Stage Rd for a check up just to make sure. We found out he had adult and baby heartworms as well as intestinal worms. Wilson endured the intensive heartworm treatments like a champ. We are new doggie parents and the staff didn't flinch when I freaked out having to leave him. I was able to call and go visit him. He seemed safe and happy. The staff knows Wilson by name and treats him as if he were their own baby. I'm so glad that they are so knowledgeable and have been there to guide me, as well as comfort me through this entire process. Wilson is a happy heathy boy now thanks to Stage Rd Animal Hospital. more

Okay for shots... do NOT use them for emergency or problems 3/18/2012

I have always used Stage Road for basic yearly shots for my animals b/c of cost. HOWEVER, I do not use them for emergencies or any problems. A few years ago my cat was having problems (weight loss, vomiting) and I was told by Stage road that "" we can not figure out what is wrong with him without cutting him open."" I took my cat to a specialist in Cary (Dr. Monce who I HIGHLY recommend) who was VERY reasonable with treatment and cost. He did some tests and determined the issue. Without ""cutting him open."" * My dog 3 weeks ago was bleeding from his rectum. Took him to my specialist vet and determined that it was ecoli poison and gave him meds. Cost us $150. Our dog was fine 24 hours later. My aunt and uncle took their dog to stage road with the same problem recently. They were told that they had 2 options.. put her to sleep or take her to NCSU - which would cost $1000 (they did not have this. They opted to put her down and they did. This vet should have admitted that they had no clue what was wrong with the dog and told them to get a second opinion from a normal vet's office. Instead this 6 year old dog was put down as they were told she had liver issues. Quacks. Do not use them for anything other than shots. more

Absolutely awesome animal hospital 10/13/2011

I was recently referred to this animal hospital by a close friend. After being nickel and dimed for every visit at Banfield, I felt that their wellness plans did not save me any money because they only found other things to charge me for. I brought my dog to Stage Road animal hospital for what I thought was a broken leg/dislocated hip. Dr. Hackett examined my great dane and knew exactly what was wrong with her. She did an xray to confirm her diagnosis. Unfortunately my dog had bone cancer and there was nothing that they could do for her because the cancer had already spread. Dr. Hackett was so caring and told me truthfully that I had to make a difficult decision within the next few weeks because the cancer will spread fast. I took her home that day and I was able to spend 2 additional weeks with my sweet girl, Dixie. I brought her back to Stage Road this past week so that she could make her journey to the ""Rainbow Bridge."" The staff was so good to me! I would recommend this hospital to anyone. Absolutely wonderful people that truly care about your pet. more

Attentive & Caring 9/29/2011

I have been to the hospital about 6 times for my puppy's shots and physicals and I have been satisfied with every outcome of each visit. Dr. Mendoza is not much of a conversationalist but I can tell she is a die hard animal lover and treats my puppy like her own. the assistants are very nice and the front desk girls are pretty sharp. The hospital is pretty clean although I did see urine on the ground one day...well it is an ""Animal ""Hospital. The costs are pretty good. I thought owning a new puppy would cost me an arm and a leg, but going to ""Old Stage"" has proved me wrong. I would take my pet there again and again, but hopefully only for well visits ;) more

Great place - I wouldn't go anywhere else! 6/6/2011

Let me start by saying that my dog is basically like my child. I adopted him from a shelter about a year ago and I am extremely protective of him because he was pretty sick when I got him (underweight, 2 types of intestinal worms, heartworms). I drive almost 20 minutes to bring him to Stage Road, even though I have 2 other vets within 5 minutes of my house. They are the absolute best. We have seen both Dr. Mendoza and Dr. Hackett and they are fantastic with him and you can tell they really care about the animals. When my dog got sick while getting his intensive heartworm treatment, Dr. Hackett called me personally to let me know what was going on and to suggest options for his treatment. When I brought him back in 6 months later for his boosters, she remembered my dog and checked on him very carefully. Even though it is usually packed, I have never waited for more than about 10 minutes, which isn't too bad in my opinion. All the ladies that staff the front desk are very nice, too, and have been great about answering my tons of questions that I always have! There are some not-so-great vets in this area (Harnett County) - but I am a hardcore worrier, so if I feel this great about bringing my dog here then I recommend it to anyone! more

Thanks, but no thanks! 2/18/2011

Took pet there to have shots done, folks told me it was a good place to save money. What they meant was it was Cheap! Doc did not look at my pet for one minute, staff was rude, hospital was dirty... Pay more and go to a real vet! more

Good prices but wait can be crazy 1/5/2011

I like the doctors fine and the prices are good but the office staff could sometimes be better organized and I have had on several occasions a very long wait. They need to schedule better. more

Not very please 10/11/2010

I took my dog to this hospital today for her yearly exam and vaccines. My in-laws have been taking her since she was a puppy so I figured we would stay there. I quite possibly may never go back. I saw multiple assistants while waiting for the doctor and not one of them really talked to me or asked me anything about my dog. When the doctor finally showed up (the only male doctor there, I don't remember his name) he didn't even look at my dog or touch her and he told me she was overweight just by looking at a number on her chart. He did not take her temperature or look in her eyes or ears (which I work at a vet in the Cary area and that's normal procedure with every appointment that walks in the door with all vets in that area). When he asked what heartworm prevention I was using, I told him a different brand then what they sell there and he made a face at me and told me it was no good and I wasn't protecting my dog (it's a medication we carry where I work and I know for sure it's just as good, if not better, as everything else). On top of all that I brought in a fecal sample for my other dog and needed to get a final deworming treatment for him and had to fight for almost 10 minutes for someone to get it for me even though I told multiple people he needed it. I was told by 2 other vets that he would need a 3rd and final deworming and the technicians at Stage Road would not give it to me until I argued with them for 10 minutes. They also asked about heartworm prevention and I was told a second time that what I use is no good and I'm not protecting my dogs. Overall I did not feel I was given the time of day for them to really get to know my dog or me. I didn't feel they gave my pet the adequate attention she needed and I probably will not be going back. more

Nice People - 4/7/2010

I really like the Staff & Dr Mendoza.\r \r They were very kind & worked in my normal 3.4lb chihuahua in 15 min before they were scheduled to close - the staff even stayed an hour after they should have been closed - took an xray & gave an anitibiotic shot. I took him home & he just got worse overnight - he could not even walk so I took him back the next morning & dropped him off for day watch & care...they ran some more bloodwork & could not find anything other than elevated white blood cells - I was advised that he probably needed a cat scan & spinal tap - was told NC State vet school did this - the diagnosis was ""over their head"". NC State Vet school's beginning price to tell us if they could treat him or not started @ $2300.00.\r \r I took my dog to another vet - he was down to 3lbs they\r also did xrays & I was told he had a flair up in his spine - kinda like when a person back goes out - he has an enlarged heart & fluid around it. He was put on pain meds, med to reduce the fluid around his heart, & blood pressure meds. \r \r It has taken him a week to start back walking & eating - now under 3lbs - but my furbaby is on the road to recovery.\r \r I do not have anything bad to say - just make sure if you are dealing with a case that is out of the ordinary -----get a second opinion. Pros: Great as a 'general everyday vet' Cons: Get a Second Opinion more

not recommended 2/25/2010

my dog had a cough and two days after going in she dies more

caring vet 2/1/2010

I had previously went to a vet who muzzled my dog and was just horrible. I came to these guys on a referral and was very pleased. I explained they usually muzzled my dog. They were wonderful with him (even though he was high fear) and did everything without a muzzle. Also came for a second opinion. My previous vet told me ( while I was 9 month pregnant) that my dog probably had cancer and went on to tell me a story of how another dog died from this cancer. Luckily a friend referred me to these guys and came to find out, it was just a little infection that needed antibiotics. I have been going for 5 years now and won't change. My whole furry family goes (2 dogs and 2 cats) Just wish they would be mobile so my potbellied pig could see them. Pros: great vet Cons: location more

SLOW!!!! 1/7/2010

I showed up 10min early for my 11am appt w/ an 11 year old german shepard w/ hips so bad she can't stand. I'm still waiting @ 12:05p and still gaven't seen the doc. NEVER coming here again!!! more

I've recommended for year...now I'm second guessing 6/11/2009

I've been taking my animals to this vet for 10 years now and have never had a problem. They've always been nice and great with animals. their prices are also the best around - even with a 45 minute drive to the vet, they are still cheaper. I have to say that they have recently started nickel and diming their customers - or at least me. I have an 11 year old cat and she has a bit of arthritis. Stage Road gave me metacam to give to her 2 times a week in a very small dose. This helped her tremendously; she's old but she was definitely moving around a lot more. They gave me a small bottle to start and when I ran out of the medicine, I decided to go to PetMeds to order to avoid the almost 1.5 hour round trip to the vet, for a $20 bottle of medicne. PetMeds was $19 + 5 for shipping. Of course PetMeds verifys with your vet that it's ok to order it - when Stage Road called me, they informed me that they charge a $5 processing fee for processing prescriptions. This was crazy. I only wanted a small bottle until I could take my cats for their yearly check up in 3 months and they wanted to charge me $5. When I asked what they had to process and she said it was because they had to take the time to pull the Dr to the side and ask if it's ok. This was the wrong answer. If I run out of my meds and call my doctor to ask them to call in a refill, they do not charge me. So in my opinion Stage Rd is starting to nickel and dime. I even asked if Mendoza would wave the $5 knowing I would be back in there in 3 months for the check up and she said no. Needless to say, I will not have my cats seen by Mendoza again - yes I know it's only $5 but it's the principal. I was very close to changing vets however, I have grown to love the other 2 vets who work there, Hachett and Melocha Pros: Great prices Cons: Beginning to nickel and dime the customers more

Fantastic office with caring staff and dedicated doctors! 1/11/2009

I have been using this office for several years now with 3 cats and 1 dog. When we lost one cat to advanced cancer, the office staff and doctor who assisted us were incredibly compassionate and accomodating. We have ALWAYS received prompt and courteous service from the office staff and have never had any doubts as to the quality of care our furry family members have received. This office is also top notch when it comes to treatment costs and will always work with us if we need to pay on a more expensive treatment or investigate less expensive treatment options. I highly recommend Stage Rd. Animal Hospital - try them! You will not regret it!! Pros: cost, courteousness, professionalism, compassion Cons: location (it's a little off the beaten track unless you live nearby) more
