Will please all! 7/30/2011

This is one of the only ""natural"" restaurants that can please vegetarians as well as people who aren't. Most restaurants that offer vegetarian or ""natural"" food often leave meat-eaters unsatisfied. This place, however, will please all. more

FILTHY KITCHEN, DOWN THE DRAIN 8/10/2010

I used to go to this restaurant years ago and it was fabulous. The food was fresh, tasty, and you could go with both veggie and meat eaters. I had the bad idea recently to bring my family to celebrate my mom's birthday, and we basically ordered everything in the menu. BAD IDEA!!!! The food is so badly prepared these days that even the nachos were awful. The dishes have not been adjusted since the early nineties, and have absolutely no balance and poor seasoning. It is as if they process every dish to remove any vestige of flavor. To boot, if you have the bad idea of looking into the kitchen, you'll see grime everywhere. I have been in plenty of developing world places that would make yoru skin crawl, and this one is just as bad. DIsgusting! To add insult to injury, the prices are way out of line for the flavorless cuisine they serve, and they don't have anywhere to change a child's diaper. I had to go into the dsigustingly filthy women's bathroom and put my son on a atrociously dirty 24"" long table that was even filthier than the kitchen. With such nicer joints all around, I can't even imagine why they have stayed in business. more

Great for vegetarians & their carnivore friends 4/6/2010

Not sure where to dine with your vegetarian & organic friends? Head over to Spring Street Natural. Their menu has a selection that will please everyone. This extends to their beverage menu. A nice selection of wines to pair with your organic (or non) meal. Even better - they offer a good selection of beers on tap. Including Peak Organic.\r \r This a great little spot to get away from the throngs shopping along Spring and sit at the bar for a quick bite or drink as well.\r \r Thoughtful and helpful staff as well. This winter my infant niece lost a shoe, when I called, and went back to retrieve it, they went out of their way to ensure we got it back.\r \r Put this one on your list.\r \r Pros: Vast menu more

Reasonable, Healthy and Tasty food 7/22/2009

The atmosphere is friendly and the service is excellent, whether you are at the bar or at a table. Have tried their Chile Relleno, no meat, shitake mushrooms and deep fried in a light tempura type of batter. There Ceasar Salad with grilled calamari is a must. The calamari are well seasoned and crunchy. Don't pass on the spring rolls either and keep an eye on the specials. You will always get a good recommendation for a wine. Mind you that the suggestion does not point at the most expensive libation. If you are in the mood for dessert, well, the carrot cake is unique. Sweet but not overwhelmingly so. You can taste the carrots and indulge in the orange and chocolate syrup that spark the plate. If in the hood, Spring Street Natural is your hangout!!!!! Pros: Great food, great recipies and great service Cons: A bit out of the way for me more

fine, delicious, healthy food and great atmosphere 3/9/2009

I really love this restaurant. I?ve been going there for about 20 years and it?s still as great as always, offering fine, delicious, healthy food and a great atmosphere to go alone or with friends. It?s decently priced when you consider the location and the quality of the food. They offer a wide variety of tasty and well-prepared dishes?from completely vegan and organic when possible to free-range meats and poultry. more

Ridiculously Over-Priced and Tastes Awful 8/4/2008

I work near Spring Street Natural, and went in to get a take-out salad for lunch at the office. My first time ordering there. I ordered the Asian Salad (lunch: $10.50) plus the grilled jumbo shrimp, bringing the total to $15.50. More than this working girl usually tries to spend for lunch, but what the heck, right? I just opened the take-out bag up back at the office and am AMAZED. For my extra $5, I got THREE overcooked shrimp. THREE?! And they're not even well-cooked! The salad is a huge disappointment, as well. Canned pineapple, mostly the white inner leaves of lettuce, and the miso dressing leaves a lot to be desired. It's somehow both bitter AND tasteless. Don't ask me how they accomplished that trick. I should have listened to other people's reviews. Seriously -- I'm just a receptionist from down the street, so I'm extra bitter I spent my hard-earned cash on this elegantly-packaged rubbish. But even if you have money to burn, WHY SPEND IT HERE? Don't go in! Pros: The bar looked pretty. Cons: Over-priced. Tastes bad. more

NOT worth the time or money... 7/9/2008

Both times I've gone, I've gone alone, for lunch, and just like the person who reviewed this place before me, I was treated VERY poorly. I was seated in the worst table...hidden from the rest of the restaurant. It took at least 15 minutes before ANYONE came to offer water, or take my order. THEN, it took another 20 minutes to get my appetizer (a simple salad) OR any water. The prices are obnoxious too. For a mid-sized ceasar salad with 3 shrimp...cost $15.00. All in all, the food is not bad, but the service and the 2 hours it took to serve me completely eclipse the quality of the food. If they deliver, I would recommend that. You are NOT missing anything by not going there. Pros: healthy food Cons: service, waiting for food, bad seating, no ambience more

Sure ... if you like BLAND 2/25/2008

Took my grandma here for a healthy alternative. If you're going to charge $8 for roasted organic tofu appetizer, it better taste good. They took 3 triangles of tofu and just put some peanut sauce on it, instead of cooking it in the sauce. You could tell that they were two separate items - tofu and sauce, they didn't blend at all. I ordered the stir fried organic vegetables w/ seafood and it was just okay. She had the pumpkin ravioli, which was alright as well, only because it was semi-different. She also had the tea, which was overpriced for $3. It was basically a tea bag in a tiny teapot of water that held barely 8 oz. Go elsewhere, please. more

What is in that Bread?!?!? 10/18/2007

This is a great place to go for lunch. Casual but clean. Great sophistacated yet comfy atmosphere. The food is consistently delicious and the service is fast and friendly. I recommend any of the salads, especially the Southwestern Chicken Salad. I get it every time. It is sooo good!!! Even if you're not a salad person you should order it. It's worth it! The best part of the whole place is the INCREDIBLE bread they serve before the meal. What is in that stuff! It's like this buttery pumpkin bread...my goodness is that stuff ever tasty and addictive! Prices are good as well. Pros: Good prices, delicious bread, good service more
