Great Place for a Celebration 5/29/2009

Came here to celebrate a promotion with my boyfriend and left very happy. We sat at the bar which I highly recommend, the bartender was so friendly, very, very attentive and helpful with the menu. The pasta was absolutely delicious, definitely handmade and it melts in your mouth. The food was so different and while a little pricey, it's to be expected with the type of food and quality. We loved every plate we had and the service was excellent, making it a great night to remember. Pros: excellent service, excellent food more

Loathed it! 11/18/2008

Oh where do I begin? I hated this place so much that I signed up with Citysearch just so I could write this review:\r \r 1) They obviously didn't think about what would happen if they had people waiting. There is nowhere to wait! You are scrunched between the wall and the railing with servers flying by you with trays of food.\r 2) They obviously have no concept of how reservations work. We made reservations for 8:30pm, and we weren't seated until 9:30pm. (They also only offered us free appy's after we complained that we'd been standing around for almost an hour.)\r 3) Apparently, they don't understand the question, ""Is this place vegetarian friendly?"" They said they are, but they are definitely not.\r 4) They're push for authenticity ends up making them seem like they're full of it.\r 5) They shouldn't put things on the menu that they can't make. The rabbit was horribly overcooked.\r 6) For what we paid, I expected a little taste of heaven, I got noodle-roni.\r 7) They need to figure out how to work their credit card machine because most people in my party were charged multiple times, and now we're waiting for them to fix it. They also don't seem to be the least bit remorseful. \r 8) There are a million great Italian places in Seattle, go there. Not here, please not here. Pros: None. Cons: Read my review again. The best part of my evening was when we went to the Elysian and had a beer. more

Underwhelming 11/18/2008

Bland food, indifferent staff, over-priced...what more could you ask for in a restaurant? \r \r I can't imagine it will be around for too much longer...so hurry in. more

Worst Pasta in the City! 11/16/2008

Worst Pasta in the City!! If you want Italian Cuisine, you should at least have an Italian Chef who knows the food. I had the pasta with mushrooms it was horrible, please at least note on your menu that it is the poor peoples pasta, essentially flour and water, without egg, the flavor was bland, and like eating bowl of paste!\r My friend had the pasta Ragu, and it was dry and bland. I just returned from living in Italia the last 6 months and this is not worthy of being considered authentic Italian cuisine of Piedmonte.\r Upside, the wine list is excellent, the service was good.\r I would not reccomend this restaurant, nor return, unless of course you get an Italian that knows food as Chef!\r This is a step down from the owners other restaurant Cafe Juanita. more

Very Good 11/8/2008

We have eaten here twice so far and I still want to give it a 3rd shot to decide what I truly think. With that said, its definitely worth checking out. The restaurant itself has great character, sort of like a modern Italian trattoria. The pasta is excellent, very flavorful. The service is very friendly and attentive. Everyone raves about the pasta here. I think they try to highlight the pasta and because of that I have found them to skimp on the sauce. This is sort of letdown, this happened both times we've eaten there when ordering two different pasta dishes. Your pasta is awesome but more sauce guys! The sardine appetizer is fantastic. The poached veal appetizer didn't add up my expectations, definitely on the bland side. I think they offer very good wine by the glass options as well. All and all check it out, especially during these dark wintrey days. more

Flavor Orgasam 2008 9/17/2008

If you like food this is the place. Lots of food, lots of flavor and a damn good wine list! I wish I had packed my extra stomach especially when the howtheFdidtheymakeitthisgood cheese plate came out. The place is oriented towards family style dining...a true Trattoria. No menues and a fixed price for 5 courses. They sit you next to other diners on a big family table (a few smaller tables are around) so this is a great place to go to meet other people. On busy nights expect to have your dining experience interrupeted by your neighbors. Usually it provides for a friendly atmosphere of food sharing (""oh my god this is soooo good you have to try it!"") If you want to dine alone or have a romantic moment with your sweetie it might not be as private as you like. This is also not a very good place for vegetarians who are bothered by sight/smell of meat. Bring family and friends and enjoy! Pros: Food, Food, and More Food. Cons: No Parking, Not Private more
