Sorrento Animal Hospital

I had previously been taking my cats to another vet up the street in Murray Hill since it was closer to my apartment. When I adopted my new dog from the humane society they gave me a list of veterinary hospitals that offered free exams. I decided to try Sorrento out because it was on the list. The moment I walked in I was greeted instantly and the paper work was all ready for me to fill out. The front staff I think her name was Cassie was so nice she had everything prepared for me and because my puppy was a little rambunctious she put us in a room and let me fill out the paper work there. The technician who came in the room which I believe was Laura was so nice and sweet to my puppy it really mad the experience for him fun you could really tell they cared about the pets. She got right on the floor and began petting him and putting him at ease. I think I was more nervous then he was. The Doctor I saw who I believe was named Tomchin was so sweet she put up with all my questions and was so gentle with my baby. Normally my other animals hate the vet they shake and cower under the tables so this was a nice a change. I also had about a 10 minute wait time which they told me to expect since there was paperwork. I was normally used to waiting at least 15 minutes in the lobby before being seen before. Since I adopted my puppy they gave me a free exam, a free nail trim, and a free month of flea and heart worm medication. All I had to pay for was the vaccines which I believe were each under 20.00.. After my appointment I immediately called my normal vet and had all my records sent over. The customer service alone was was above and beyond what I had received at my other clinic in Murray Hill. The cost was also cheaper.\r I also loved the homey feel the clinic was filled with art work and was very clean and homey. Before going to Sorrento I though my previous clinic did a great job. After visiting Sorrento I realized the service could be even better. I look forward to starting a new relationship with Sorrento and feel confident recommending them to my friends and family more

My family has been going to Sorrento for over 8 years, starting because of a recommendation from my neighbor. The locations is very convenient and the staff is friendly. I have no complaints with the care my pets have received. Our current veterinarian is Dr. Chigos and he has been very nice and helpful in diagnosing our diabetic cat. I have no intention of taking my pets anywhere else and recommend Sorrento to my family and friends. more

I have 2 cats. Since August this year I have been taking them into Sorrento Animal hospital for exams, vaccines, check-ups and a neuter. All of which have been good experiences. Each time I have came in with my cats we have received superior service and care than any vet clinic I had been to before. My cats were more carefully examined and discussed by their docs than any doctor I have been to for my own personal reasons. I was particularly impressed by the # calls and updates I received about my cats conditions and bloodwork. It is quite obvious this clinic is all about giving your pets the best care possible, not racking up a large check from you. This is they way animal medicine and clinics should be. more

Fantastic place, Brian is awesome and wonderful with animals. Dr. Leonnig is new but a great addition to the hospital. more

When I first moved to Tigard Oregon in 2004, I have taken all 5 of my pets to Sorrento Animal Hospital. Three of my animals had some very serious health issues and Dr. Nichol took great care of my babies. However, Dr. Nichol is either not there or has retired (he started the clinic, I believe) and the clinic and the personnel there now should be ashamed of themselves. They are nothing like Dr. Nichol nor will they ever be of the same caliber of veterinarian. The doctors and the support staff are far below the fine outstanding, compassionate quality as Dr. Nichol and that is very sad to say.I would not take a dead fish to the clinic, and the current people at the clinic have sullied the name of a once very good practice and hospital. I say this as my opinion and assesment of the Sorrento Animal Hospital. I am not a qualified vetrinarian or health care provider of animals, but as someone who has experienced both the before and after. more

I brought my puppy into Sorrento for his first exam. Everyone was really nice and friendly. The exam was free since I adopted from the humane society. They gave me an estimate for the next visit and the prices are very reasonable. I felt like a part of a family. I will definitely be going back. more

Sorrento has been my pets veterinary clinic for over 7 years. I have seen a variety of Veterinarians at Sorrento and all of them have been very caring and nice. I have noticed the hospital has gone through some new changes and brought on some different staff including Doctors. Everyone seems really nice and they always treat me and my pets as family. I have never had an issue and recommend Sorrento to all my friends and family. I also board my pets there sometimes and have never had a complaint. My dogs actually enjoy going to the vet which to me says a lot. more

My boyfriend and I took our new adopted puppy to Sorrento because they do a free exam for humane society adoptions. I had never been there before but it is close to our apartment. The hospital was very cute they have a lot of interesting art work and it was very clean. The front staff was great taking turns holding my puppy as I filled out paperwork. The exam room was large and the technician was very nice. We saw Dr. Thorud and she was very caring and answered all our questions. We left with a lot free goodies and information. I don't have any other vet experience to compare with but I can say that everyone was really nice and I felt they really cared. We will definitely be back for our puppy's next set of vaccines. I would recommend them especially to anyone having just adopted a pet. more

I have been coming to Sorrento for 3 years and I recently lost my little one to cancer. I have seen all of the vets at Sorrento and have always been treated well. Dr Cates has been incredibly kind and so helpful as we dealt with our pet's declining condition. I don't know if we will ever find room in our hearts for another pet, but if we do we will definitely come back. more

I have been going to Sorrento for the last 13 yrs ... Dr Nichol was fantastic as well as Dr Smith, I am sad they are both no longer practicing there. I will say i am disappointed in some of the staff changes. I am very happy with Dr Hatfield, I feel she is very personable and was helpful with questions I had and was great with my pet. On the other hand I cannot say the same about Dr Cates. I will not book appts with him. The front office staff has been ok for the most part. I just think some of them could work on their people skills. I disagree with the previous comment on cleanliness...i have never felt it was not clean. Hopefully they are just having growing pains. more

We have been seeing Dr. Nicol at Sorrento since the hospital was a little yellow house. He has always been our vet and my dogs loved him. He has a great love for goldens as do I so it was a great fit. Recently to my dismay he has retired. After trying to get into him we were forced to see another veterinarian and he was great. Dr. Bezwick was so nice and caring. Although we will miss Dr. Nicol it is nice to know there are other choices. Everyone at Sorrento has been great and the staff is always helpful. I will continue to recommend Sorrento to all my friends and neighbors. more

This has been an extremely tough year for my family we have lost two of our beloved pets that we have had for over 10 years. Sorrento handled our losses with the care and love we have always experienced from Sorrento. We are not ready to get a new puppy yet but when we are, we will definitely continue to go to Sorrento. Special thanks goes out to the front desk for helping me through such a difficult time (and a lot of tissue), and Dr. Cates and Dr. Nicol for always providing the best care possible. more

We are moving and one of my biggest fears is I will not be able to find a veterinary clinic as good as Sorrento. They have been so wonderful to us and our pets. Our pets are our children and we want the very best for them and Sorrento has provided that. They have been with us since we rescued our first dog until the day we had to put him down. They have always treated us and our pets with compassion and care, especially Dr. Nicol and Dr. Cates. I can honestly recommend them without hesitation. more

I just called to schedule an appointment with Dr. Smith and they told me she has taken a different direction. What kind of an answer is that. I just saw her a few weeks ago I am sure she would have told me if she was leaving. When I asked where she went they gave me the run around. She is my cats doctor and I want to continue to see her if she is reasonably close. I fortunately found her, it took me awhile but I found her on face book and she is working at Aloha Animal Medical Clinic, I am unsure why they could not tell me that. more

We have only been going to Sorrento for a couple years now since our regular veterinarian retired. We have seen a few different doctors. For awhile we were in a lot due to our cats stomach issue which has now been resolved. Everyone has been really nice from the front to the back. We were just in again a couple weeks ago and once again we had a pleasant experience the staff in the front snapped a really cute picture of our dog and believe me he is hyper so that alone should warrant a star! I think veterinarians are one of those things you should check out yourself before committing too. I have always felt our pets have been well taken care of at Sorrento and feel confident recommending our friends and neighbors to them although most of them already go there. more

We want to Thank everyone at Sorrento Animal Hospital. With all the problems our dog has had, they have always been there for us and our pet. We are always treated well from the time we get there until we leave. We have seen all the Doctors from time to time and all of them are wonderful. We have noticed they have made some changes there in the past few months and things seem to be running much better now. I agree that the new laser treatment is great. It has helped our dog allot in his old age. No Fears Here. more

We have taken our Yellow Lab to Sorrento Animal Hospital for 12 years now and would never consider going anywhere else. Everyone treats our pooch as if she was a celebrity. Getting up there in years, the back and legs are failing. The new Laser treatment Dr Nicol has been performing has worked wonderful on her and she can now do the things she used to take for granted. I guess with as many customers as they have, there's always going to be someone that's never happy. But believe me, this is the place to take your pet for the best care available. more

I cannot believe what I'm reading, i mostly feel sorry for all the reviews below, they will learn better about Sorrento. Just a joke of a practice, receptionists never seem to know whats happening around them, I walked in and a young lady acted very frustrated by my presence, then just got up and walked away! As other receptionists tried to do her job, though were unable... I would come to find out she's the owner's daughter, I mean cmon! Dr's are very rude, Ive had Dr. Smith and Cates, both were blatantly trying to push extra business on me. I watched as techs manhandled my dog, who is old and fragile, just trying to get her to the back, where I was not allowed to watch them work. The practice is dirty in the front, so I would like to see the back! The receptionist told me I could see the kennel if I wanted, though she was well aware I was not there for the kennel, very shady! Also, they have new employees almost every week, long timers get let go for nothing, seems like a bad atmosphere every time. I used to LOVE Sorrento, but over the past 6-12 months something has happened there, and it's not good in any way. I'm done there for good! Never go to Sorrento if you love your pets! more

I recently moved to the area and have had a few experiences with some other veterinary clinics in the area which were great. However, once I tried Sorrento Animal Hospital the care and compassion I received was far above and beyond any other clinic I have ever been too. The equipment they have is amazing and the entire staff from the front receptionists to the Doctors were amazing. They really made me feel that they care about my pet as much as I do. I am looking forward to bringing the rest of my pets there as well and recommend Sorrento to anyone that views their pets as family and wants nothing but the best for them. more
