I have used SOHO for the entire 22 years I've lived in New Haven. Valerie, my current stylist for over 5 (10?!) years has consistently given me excellent, stylish haircuts and "only her hairdresser knows for sure" color. She listens to what I want, but offers her professional opinion when needed. She is also a lovely person. more

I was very sad to see Sharon leave as she was the person who did my brazilians. She was so great, and I am not sure why I wasn't told if she is somewhere else. I went for two waxes since Sharon has left and was upset about missed hair the first time and some burned skin. I went again, because I know that it is clean there, and they use gloves. I have been getting waxed for years, and I am a little disappointed in the quality of waxing. Both times, none of the stray hairs left from wax not getting it were tweezed out, like I have had everytime before. I am going to give SOHO one more shot, then if not. I will go back to my place in Middlebury where I know all my hair will be gone and plucked. more

I went to Soho for the first time and Valerie was my stylist. She was super friendly and got the color I wanted right on. She warned it might take 2-3 sessions to get to the hue I wanted but she got it on the first try! She did a great job shaping up my hair too with a cut. Very respectful of my request. Only complaint was that I noticed there was still a little dye on my forehead but it came right off with some Seabreeze. more

Debbie was great. I moved away from New Haven over a year ago and have been unable to find a salon where someone knew how to properly cut my fine, straight hair. During a recent trip back to New Haven I visited Soho, and for the first time in over a year someone just said to me "I love your haircut!" Wow! Thanks Debbie and Soho!! more

So I've went to the Soho spa in New Haven for brazillian bikini waxing. My experience there was an utter nightmare. The person used wax that was not hot enough and needless to say, this was the most painful waxing experience I have ever had (it was even painful to walk the next day!). To top this off, I had a ton of broken and residual hairs and my skin became discolored (darker). I spoke to the manager and she said she was sorry, but the person had 10 years experience and that I could come back in a few days and get the residual hairs waxed. My touch up person (different from the first)was very nice, but tweezed a few of the remaining hairs because it was too early to wax again. I got my second full brazillian from the touch up person. Although she was nice, I again left with many small residual and broken hairs. Granted this was only my 7th brazillian, the Soho spa is the only place I have left where my skin didn't feel and look smooth. Maybe the waxist have difficulty seeing hairs because the room lights are so dim? What ever the case is, this is not the place to go for waxing! The Soho spa on Walley Ave or the Waxing Spot in Westport do phenominal jobs. Both places I have left satisfied with the results, especially since they last! more
