I brought a Suit Jacket in that needed some alterations. Once I walked in I was promptly helped. The Taliors were very professional, and expertly tailored my jacket. Prices were very reasonable, and the wait time for my jacket was minimal. Very satisfied, and plan to come back often. Pros: expert friendly staff more

Amazing Tailors 11/7/2008

I usually have garments tailored by my dry cleaner. Sometimes I'm happy with their work, other times I am shocked at the quality... SO... when I needed to have a sequined garment taken in and up, I figured I'd try somewhere new. The reviews on here are right! They do a great job at Sew Special. You can't even tell the dress has been completely changed, and they worked with a DIFFICULT sequin pattern. The craftmanship and quality is VERY good. I'll be going back! more

Top notch 11/3/2008

These guys really know what they are doing. Being a skinny guy, it is tough to find a tailor that really does a good job with shirts, pants and jackets. They got it right the first time. A little pricey, but well worth it. Friendly and great service. I highly recommend them! Pros: Really good at what they do, Friendly Cons: Parking, Price more

Great work!!! 10/20/2008

I took in raw fabric to have 4 drapery panels made and Mike did a wonderful job. He made the drapes with blackout liner and even made tie backs with the extra fabric. The drapes look terrific! I will definitely utilize Sew Special's services again! more

Great Alterations! 9/18/2008

I took two bridesmaid dresses in one that wouldn't be too much work and another that was two sizes too big and very detailed. I had no clue how anyone would have made it not only fit me but look good too. I was amazed when I went back to pick them up because they were both amazing. They fit like a glove and you would never be able to guess that the one dress was two sizes too big. They did such a great job and are very very nice so I would strongly recommend them and will certainly be going back!! more

Baptism Dress 9/7/2008

I had Sew Special make my daughter's Baptism gown. I explained to them that I wanted something simple yet pretty, with some lace, and not to long. What I got was a beautiful gown for my daughter that far exceeded my expectations!!!! It was beautiful and and more elegant than I imagined. My daughter was the most beautiful baby there. I highly recommend Sew Special to everyone that I know. They do exceptional work, and have the most friendliest people. Pros: Beautiful work more

SEW SPECIAL..... that is a perfect name for this busniess!!!!! The work done here is not only special but terrrfic. May and Mike do an outstanding job of fitting each garment to the body type. They exhibiit expert craftmanship in their work. I have been a customer for the past 15 or so years and in all that time,the work done for me has been outstanding!!! I never have to worry if something will fit me. I know that it will in the expert hands of May and Mike . Professionals come at a price 7/26/2008

I recently bought my first linen suit and wanted it custom fitted. I?ve never had a suit fitted before and after researching online I decided to check out Sew Special Custom. The whole experience from start to finish was very pleasant and professional. Everyone I dealt with seemed genuinely concerned with the outcome of my suit. I will say I paid more than I expected too, but quality comes at a price. My suit had major work done on the coat pockets (had to move 3 pockets), but you would never tell anything was done to it. Their craftsmanship is quite apparent. If you value quality, and understand the saying ?you get what you pay for?, these folks are a great choice for custom tailoring; very friendly, greatly skilled, and highly professional. I came from france for a wedding and I had a dress that wasn't finshed and had horrible flaws. So i was reccommended this place and over a couple of weeks, they made a miracle. the dress was long and have a lot of lace and i know it took a lot of work and dedication. Best Inexpensive Tailor 7/2/2008

I bought this jacket in Europe a year ago and I like it so much and I wanted a replica of it. I have searched high and low in the city of Chicago and found this unpretentious shop. The mature lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. I entrusted my jacket and the fabric that I bought to them. After a few weeks, I got a call from them that my jacket is ready for fitting and pick up. I was a little nervous at first, as soon as I took the plastic cover. Wow!!! I got the exact replica of the jacket. I tried it on and the size is a perfect fit. Now I am in search of a good fabric because I will be going back to this shop to have another 2-3 jackets tailored again. more

Used to be good 6/20/2008

I gave this business a great review once, but am writing a new one now because alterations that used to be $7 a year ago are now $18! Almost not worth it to fix a garment. All they care about now is that you give them a a nice review, so they can rip somebody else off based on their ""good"" name. I will be looking for a new tailor - someone good and reasonable. Beware of all old reviews... Pros: irrelevant due to prices Cons: pricey! more

Nice job 5/22/2008

I came here recently to have a bridesmaid dress altered. The tailor did a nice job. It was a tad on the pricey side and only a bit cheaper than some of the other tailors I have been to (i.e. La Modista). Although I will say they were very customer-oriented. I would recommend this place for dress alterations over an everyday dry cleaners. more

Great Manufacturer for Cut& Sew Products 5/19/2008

I have used Sew Special for almost 2 years now to sew my Twiddle products. Not only are they reliable and high quality, they are helpful in finding solutions. Good people too! Pros: They work to short notice and solve problems. Cons: The decor is a little dated Egyptian but still charming! more

This cleaners does excellent work. They do exactly as I asked them to, and they give me great suggestions as well. I have never ever received a garment that I was not completely pleased with. I would recommend this cleaners to anyone if they want perfect work done!!! Go and see for yourself!! more

Great repair of my curtains 5/16/2008

First I took my sheer, delicate curtains to my regular dry cleaner to be shortened - big mistake. They ended up making a mess of the curtains and eventually refunded all my money. Then I tried Sew Special after reading good reviews and they did an excellent job. I would've liked to pay less (they charged $25 per curtain panel, and I have 5 of them) but it was definitely worth it. I'll certainly be returning to Sew Special! more
