Awesome bar. Dark for the most part but harmless. Bully dudes can be easily ignored. Friendly atmosphere heats up as the evening gets later. Music is trendy and at times too tinny...

Rude lumber jack wannabees 10/10/2008

If you are good looking and have no facial hair, the bar tenders will be rude to you and you will immediately get an unwanted feeling. The guys in here resent typical good looking stereotyped gay guy. The staff somehow thinks they are somehow on a higher plane because they can pretend to be butch. One particular bartender with a long bungle of facial hair is particularly rude. Drinks are not cheap! This place was close to where I lived so I tried it several times, but just got sick of rude, fat queens who think that they are fooling anyone with their butch "act" Cons: attitude, rude, confrontational, unaccepting more

seattle eagle "leather bar" BY NAME ONLY 6/7/2008

This is NOT a leather bar. It's apparent from setting foot in the Seattle Eagle that this was once a great bar and it's even more apparent that it's time has passed. I've never had such a bad bar experience as I have there . I've tried a few times to give it a chance thinking maybe the bartenders are having a bad day , or maybe management forgot they owned a bar... in the gay community. It turns out 3 of the bartenders I interacted with are..well, Attitude Queens. Like the other reviewer said, "if they're not into you forget it." I doubt anyone of them has ever participated in leather community anyways. And while I'm thinking of it I noticed this Eagle doesn't seem to sponsor anyone in our community and if they do it doesn't show. I know I'm from Cali and people are somewhat more motivated but this lack of community interest make it seem there in it for the money only. I have decided to my business, money, and out of business clients elsewhere. If they want to go out for some fun we're heading to the CUFF, CC's, MADISON PUB, HIDE OUT, RE-BAR, KING COBRA, THE COMET, NUEMOS, LINDA'S, BILL'S OFF BROADWAY. I'm sure I had forgotten a few other good places to go and Cap hill has plenty to choose from. Pros: easy acces for bathroom on the way up the hill Cons: Management, Bartenders, Atmosphere, and Tweakers more

Eagle is joke of all Eagles 5/23/2008

The last 7 reviews were obviously written by friends, staff or management of this place. It is run by guys who are only bottom Marys and if they get mad or you or not their type..then forget good service and expect a generally rude time there. This is a poor poor example of the Eagle bar. The guys DO have attitude and the bartenders and manager are butts...unless they wannt get with you...Look, I am easy going and have been to the Eagle in alot of cities...sorry to say...I was so disppointed by the lousy attitude here. Me and two other guys were talking one night bout the tall bartender and how rude he is unless he is into you ...so I brought it up to the manager...ha.....I was 86d by the tall bartender the next time I was in....this place is sadly a joke...they even tried a Lesbian night...cum ON!!! this is the Eagle for gods sake...they have no clue about a leather bar for men Pros: none Cons: lots more

trashy , real men with no attitude 8/11/2007

this bar is so trashy i love it the music is usually great the men look so mean but are harmless the bartenders are both handsome sit in the sling watch some 80"s films and cruise the boys while you fill up on booze! Pros: muscled bartenders and no attitude gay men Cons: not enough space more

Best Bartenders 8/11/2007

Awesome bar. Dark for the most part but harmless. Bully dudes can be easily ignored. Friendly atmosphere heats up as the evening gets later. Music is trendy and at times too tinny, but when the right DJ is in place the bass hits the fan. Not much of a dance place as it is a meet, greet, but dancing can be inticing. Pros: Good music, great atmosphere, fun, cut(e) guys Cons: Not a lot of dancing, music sometimes tinny, more

User review by mjgseattle 6/14/2005

This is what a gay bar was meant to be. No attitude, no pretty boys... Just real men having real fun. Not for the timid. It looks intimidating, but everyone is very friendly, (and sleazy and cruisy). Convenient to Downtown, and there are 2 men's clubs within 2 blocks if you don't meet Mr. Right at the bar! more

it's always 4:20! 12/16/2002

i own a business. i have stress. i go to the eagle. the stress is gone. the music is the best. attitude is left at the manray. people come there to be real! i have been a fan of the eagle since my second day in seattle 8 years ago , two reasons: the music! ( the best played in seattle! eclectic like me! ) Don! when i started going to the eagle, they served henry's in the bottle. i love my henry's. well , they stopped serving it about a year ago ( guess i didnt go there enough) and Don, who i really only knew for a couple of months, but not real well, saved me the last one. what makes it special is that i hadnt been to the eagle in 2 months! total sweetie! Pros: staff, outside area, music more

Dark and Scary-YEAH! 12/11/2002

The Eagle is a dark and rough bar and many of us like it that way. It's not pretty, the guys are manly and it's a rough bar. It's really fun if that is what you like. If you want pretty, well lit and nice, then go to Manray. Pros: strong drinks, rough, dark Cons: kinda stinky, big piss crowd more

Earplugs needed 9/12/2002

The music at the Eagle is way too LOUD for my tastes and ears. I have to wear earplugs when I go there. It is also way too smokey including on the patio - some of us are chem free you know and don't want to inhale that stuff. more

Daddy's Favorite 8/25/2002

The Eagle is the only place where I feel comfortable hanging out. It's definately not my momma's favorite place, but it's my favorite hole in the wall joint where I can listen to great music. The crowd is great.....a little of this, a little of that, but overall, just a casual meeting place for guys who just want to hang out and listen to good ole rock and roll. The bartenders are HOT, and eager to serve. Nothing like walking into a bar and having your drink waiting for you when you get to the counter. This bar kicks ass. Pros: music, bartenders, patio Cons: trolls, no liquor, weekends-crowded. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
The upstairs loft features a pool table, boot shine and cramped cruising overlooking the first-floor bar scene. A walled-in back patio--with a flimsy tarp covering, gravel floor and steel barrel supports--is home to unabashed displays of hormones from the crowd of paunchy older men, 30-somethings and wild kids on a bender. Cheap beer specials are served in bottles or mason jars. Hard rock, grunge, cult artists and eclectic pop make the DJ music a must.

    The Draw
Yeah, it's smoky and dirty, and it wouldn't be your mother's favorite place, but it's a hell of a respite from the prefab video bars and trendy dance clubs that make up most of Capitol Hill's gay nightlife.
