finally a haircut you can count on! 7/20/2006

After three years in Richmond, and countless terrible haircuts that left me with nothing but regret- I found Simone and with very little explaination, she gave me the haircut I wanted that also worked the next day! She intuitively knew what my hair would do and gave me the cut I wanted. This very well may be one of the best cuts I've ever had- and I've lived in New York City and Washington DC for the past 25 years! Thanks Simone.\r more

Want the BEST haircut and Color? 6/1/2006

Simone has been my hairstylist of choice for years. She is fantastic with color, including highlights and her hair cuts are the best. She is warm, talented and her prices are reasonable. Don't forget to get a manicure or pedicure with Tim- a wonderful asset to Scissors Hair Salon.\r Simone takes pride in her salon and her clients. She knows the current hairstyles, color trends and products. She is contanstly educating herself with the latest technology and makes sure to keep her shop updated with all of the newest trends and products. \r If you are new to the Richmond area or have been here a while and need a new look, Simone is the one to call. She can make everyone look their absolute best and she LOVES doing it! I highly recommend her salon. Go see Simone and you'll know what I mean.\r \r You need to go to Scissors for a wonderful haircut and experience. Pros: relaxing environment, color expertise, great prices Cons: No cons more

Always great... 5/24/2006

I started going to Simone at Scissors after I asked a friend for a recommendation when I first moved to Richmond. That was 12 years ago and I've never been disappointed. Finding someone to trust to cut your hair is hard to do so I feel lucky. Simone is great and the space at Scissors is a nice relaxing environment. Pros: Professional, Friendly more

Pedicures... 5/15/2006

I have been seeing Simone for two years now for my one-of-a-kind haircuts, but I recently had the pleasure of being talked into a pedicure. In her new fashionable studio in the Bottom, pedicures are given with a wonderful and thorough touch, while sitting in a massage chair. It was fabulous! I'll be doing it again... more

Since 1998 5/6/2006

I have been going to Simone since 1998. She has never failed in knowing exactly what cut looks best and I always get compliments on my hair style and coloring. My only regret is that I didn't listen to her earlier in getting low & high lights bc they look fantastic! I also find her prices to be extremely reasonable. She is always very accomodating to her long-standing clients and makes time for new faces. The shop in Shockoe Bottom has a nice feel to it and I appreciate having more businesses like hers in that area. more

New York Comes to Richmond 4/26/2006

Simone is such a talented stylist. She has a flair for knowing what looks good on people(cut and color). She is always ready to try something new or different and she has excellent technical skills. I get compliments on my hair each time I go to her. If you want someone to pay attention and then deliver, try Scissors! Pros: talented, great with color, unique cuts more

More treats to experience... 4/25/2006

I want to add to my review that I wrote last Spring. I am continually amazed and thrilled at the beautiful color that Simone gives to my hair. Recently, I went from a light reddish, blonde to more of an auburn red. Not many stylists can do that and leave you with a rich, natural look, but Simone did. The color has depth as she added some fire red highlights as well as some golden blonde touches. Beautiful!! And the cut is great. I can maintain it with very little effort.\r I also wanted to mention that I love her new line of products created for colored hair. They truly work to maintain the color longer. Ask for White Sands. Now she even carries makeup. Since I went from a naturally lighter color to a darker, more intense color, I needed to accentuate my light eyebrows. Now, I don't know if I can speak for everyone, but I had never found any type of pencil, etc that could perform that task. My brows looked like they were drawn on! But Simone's eyebrow kit is phenomenal. It highlights my brows with a very natural look. You have to try it!\r Take advantage of the 25% coupon for a pedicure. Tim is fantastic! Pros: Atmosphere, Professionalism, Quality more

Transforming experience ! 4/18/2006

I first visited Scissors in early Jan. after reading the glowing reviews, and I was not dissappointed. I went in with hair that was completely fried from a perm gone bad, and told Simone to just cut it ALL off. She, instead suggested I do it in a couple of stages so as not to look too bald, and I'm glad I took her suggestion. I've since had 2 more fabulous cuts, and color, which was also fabulous, and my out-of-state daughters were so impressed, that they travel to Richmond to have Simone do their hair too. She & Tim are the BEST!! Hands down. Pros: Expert advise, Individual attention, Friendly service more

Great! 4/18/2006

I drove all the way from North Carolina to have Simone cut ten inches off my hair! I was nervous, but I knew she would do a great job. She was patient and did exactly what I asked her to and my hair looks great. I have gotten many compliments on how good it looks. For a drastic change, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I will drive back up in 6 weeks for a trim. Thanks, Simone! Pros: Inexpensive, Highly skilled, Fun more

Great customer service 4/9/2006

I returned to Simone one month after she first cut my hair because I was having trouble styling my hair. She ""revised"" my cut free of charge even though so much time had passed, and she saw me on very short notice. Now that's great customer service! more

Simone rocks! 3/30/2006

Simone is the one stylist that you don't need to spend a lot of time with consultation. She knows not only what looks good on you, but what you want! Also, Tim, who works on her staff is super friendly and helpful. It's a great salon! Pros: great stylist, great colorist, atmosphere more

First Impression.... 3/24/2006

My first impression with Simone was a good one. She gave me a good cut and her color services impressed me. When I returned the second and third time, I was not as impressed and quite uncomfortable. She seemed very preoccupied and because of that Simone cut my hair much too short one time, then the next time she didn't cut hardly anything off. I called her within three days to ask for an appt. to correct the problems and after speaking with her, I was told she didn't have the time. I felt she was not willing to take 10 or 15 mins to correct the bad cut. I am sorry for the neg feedback, but it is warrented this time. Cons: no attention to needs more

Down to Earth and a Master 2/24/2006

As a returning Richmonder coming back to my kicking groundsIt takes time to get settled with all the right services and businesses. A good hair stylist is a must for me. Simone is not only good but I would have to put her in the category of Superb! She has her own style of cutting and the fun thing about the whole experience is it didn't come all together until about 30 seconds of the finish. I have traveled internatioinally with my work and have been to some great salons. Simone's talent is a hidden treasure here in Richmond. I'll return for she truly is in my opinionA Master. Cheers -Mac Daddyo Pros: Real, Unique, The Best Cons: only one of her more

It's always scary. . . 2/23/2006

It's always scary for a girl to try out a new stylist. I've been going to Scissor for two and a half years, and honestly I've never been dissapointed with the service Simone provided. She's great with cut, color, and styling. The atmosphere always seems a lot like a female ""Barber Shop."" There's good conversation, the shop is quaint, and you always meet someone new. I went to get my hair cut on my birthday, and before I left Simone had washed and cut my hair, curled it for a night out, and given me a makeover. Some of which she didn't even charge me for because she said ""it was so much fun."" She truly enjoys her job, which is easily distinguishable by her pleasant demeanor and quality of work. Pros: Simone's talent, atmosphere, availability more

Simone . . . ""Miracle Worker"" 2/17/2006

Simone just took on the challenge of repairing my over-processed, chopped up, lifeless hair and worked miracles with it! Prior to my first appt., she gave me a 10 minute phone consulation, just to find out what was going on, what I didn't like, and to offer pre-appt. suggestions. When I walked in the door, she looked at my hair, and knew exactly what she needed to do. I showed her pictures of what I wanted, and the result was even BETTER than I had hoped for. She made several different suggestions in contrast to what I mentioned, but what she did worked! She turned dry, damaged, chopped, colorless hair, into soft, shapely beautiful hair with vibrant color. If you're looking for a knowledgeable stylist who TRULY listens to what you, and more importantly what your HAIR wants, run - don't walk to Scissors, and Simone! Pros: Small, quaint shop, bars/restaurant area Cons: Street parking only more

Very impressed! 1/17/2006

I loved going to Scissors...not only is it a quaint little adorable shop, but Simone made me feel very comfortable...especially since I was nervous cutting off TEN inches of blonde hair and changing my virgin hair to RED. She did a phenomonal job and I love it....and EVERYONE around me loves...even my MOM and she is hard to impress. I definitly recomend Simone. She is moving so look out for her new shop, trust me...it is well worth it. I LOVE MY NEW LOOK! Pros: small personal shop, not too expensive, friendly more
