Best

The Traditional Steak house atmosphere is preserved in such a comfortable way. It looks effortless but I think it is thru a lot of effort that their professional restaurant style...

Worst

Quality of beef is not great.... beef is a bit tough - but edible... and you get LOTS of it. Definitely not a ritzy place. Pros: quantity Cons: quality

Best Happy Hour 7/31/2004

Happy Hour is the best for the dollar. Cheese burger is made fresh daily. No frozen patties! Quality wait staff that has been with the company for several years. Come for the steak! Pros: steak, happy hour more

Like Denny's with good steak 6/27/2004

This place reminded my a lot of a Denny's or Shari's except that the steak was good. The rest of the food is very mediocre if not plain bad. The only plus is that all the sides are included with your steak The service was average and there is no wine list to speak of. I wouldn't recommend this place beacuse for just a little more you can have a much better meal and experience at the Ringside or Chophouse. Pros: Steak, Value Cons: , Service, No Wine List more

Best Steak in Portland! 5/27/2004

Sayler's, by far, offers the best tasting steaks in town! Exceptional service, outgoing warm employees, and friendly atmosphere. You will not leave hungry, nor disappointed. Try the seafood, and the happy hour can't be outdone. the others steakhouses rely upon their names to get them by, but Sayler's gives you the utmost in service, and exceptional food. Pros: Quality, Friendly Atmosphere, Service more

No reservations! 7/10/2003

This is one of my grandfathers favorite resturants in town. I have to admit the food is good, the prices are decent, you get all the trimmings, and the service is above average. However I will never, ever go here if I have a say in the matter. We usually go to celebrate my grandfathers birthday with a group of ten. Ten people who are going to drop several hundred on a steak dinner should not be forced to wait in a crowded lobby with not enough uncomfortable seating for over an hour. That just shows a remarkable lack of respect for the customers. We used to send one person to put our name on the wait list but last time we tried this we were told that the entire group had to be there first. Obviously they feel they have enough customers and can afford to alienate some. Pros: Food, Value Cons: No Reservations, Not Enough Parking more

Great 2/24/2003

The cost isn't any more than any other steak place, but the steaks are TERRIFIC! The best steak I've ever had. Meals are complete with relish tray, salad, coleslaw or soup, bread, entree, choice of baked potato, french fries or rice and dessert! Great value. Pros: Good value, Off-street parking, Great food Cons: Long wait more

If you just care about quantity... 2/4/2003

Quality of beef is not great.... beef is a bit tough - but edible... and you get LOTS of it. Definitely not a ritzy place. Pros: quantity Cons: quality more

Family favorite 2/4/2003

This is my inlaw's family favorite! Hands down. We have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, engageents and new baby's here. The steaks are always cooked to prefection and the veggie plate even satisfies the veggies of the family. You cannot leave this restaurant feeling hungry. Not with all the extras you get and no meal is complete with a side order of the onion rings. But here is a warning! Don't order a ""full order"" unless you have whole family to help you eat them. Pros: large parking lot, go early wekends Cons: no reservations more

Best Steak in south east Portland 2/4/2003

Great steak, good service, PRICE is outstanding value. Come early to avoid crowds. Pros: STEAKS ARE GREAT Cons: NOT ALWAYS ENOUGH PAR more

One of our favorites 1/21/2003

This is one our favorite places to go, we can get great food and a lot of it! Don't go here for low-fat or no-fat, but expect great food! Pros: Awsome food, Big portions Cons: No Reservations more

Well worth the wait!!! 1/14/2003

The party we were with had to wait awhile, the when our dinner arrived I realized why the wait was so long. I have never had a steak with better tenderness and flavor. I asked the waitress were their steaks came from and found out that they are cut in house and they are one of the few that cut their own meat. I would highly recommend anyone wanting a steak to go eat at Sayler's. The wait was well worth it next time I want a steak I will go to Sayler's again maybe on Monday though then I might not have to wait as long for a great steak! Pros: great food, reasonable price, pleasant staff Cons: at times long wait, need more restaraunts more

value, service, food, great 1/13/2003

Steak was cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and prompt even with lots of people waiting in line. Onion rings were wonderful and pig helping but needed dipping sauce. Beer was not served in chilled glass. Otherwise everything was wonderful. The lobster melted in your mouth, the extra side of shrimp was huge and tasty. The bread was unbeatable. What a great experience at very, very reasonable prices! Sayler's will be a must stop on every visit we make to Portland. Pros: quick service, food taste and value Cons: crowded more

Less Than Perfect 1/12/2003

Less than perfect steak. Our experience here was that the steak was prepared with some kind of seasoned butter-type coating, greasy and not tender. The flavor was not good and we did not feel the quality of the steak and its preparation was very good. We waited quite awhile to be seated at a time that wasn't very busy. We don't believe it deserves one of the Top 10 status. Pros: Location, Parking okay Cons: Steak Greasy, Crowded more

Disappointed 1/12/2003

I was actually quite disappointed. My husband had the prime rib which was average, I had the steak which was tender yet overly salty and the service was poor (she never took away dirty dishes or asked if everything was ok). I feel it is over priced for the cafateria taste, atmosphere and service. It would be ok if it was in the $8.00-$12.00 range, rather than $16.00- $20.00 range. more

Simply the Best!! 12/31/2002

Simply the best in the Northwest!! It is one of the few restaurants that has transcended the years without sacrificing quality. It is comforting to know that some things are still the same. Pros: Great value more

Prime Rib Heaven 12/26/2002

In the 20 years I have been going to the old country kitchen I have NEVER had a bad steak. The quality and the preparation have always been just right. The Large Prime Rib is thick and juicy and an outstanding piece of meat. more

Yum Yummmmm 12/19/2002

I have been going here since I was three years old and I still love it. People are nice and you do not have to worry about some snobby waiter getting upset when you ask for extra such and such. The food tastes great and the prices are the best I have ever seen for anything even close to this quality. A great place to go with a date or with the family. Pros: Great Food, Easy to get to, Excellent Value Cons: Sometimes Crowded more

Outstandingly good 12/19/2002

My wife and I have eaten here for over 50 years, The quality is as good today as it was the first time we ate there. The service is still some to the best anywhere. We do miss the tomato juice they used to serve. We have recommended the Country Kitchen to freinds and aquaintances over the years and none have ever been disappointed. Pros: Consistant quality more

Great value - great service 11/1/2002

My gal and I had a great dinner at Sayler's recently. Our server, Jan, was very attentive. My steak was great, especially with the mushroom sauce and seasoning. My girlfriend's prawns were great, too. When we pulled in, the lot was packed, but we only had to wait about 20 minutes on Friday. I couldn't believe the price for the quality of food - about half of the downtown steakhouses. Great Manhattan, too. Pros: Food, value, service more

Nobody does it better!!!!! 10/21/2002

I am a steak lover and have eaten steak around the country. Sayler's has mastered the art of excellence in their choice of beef and the preparation. By far the best in the country with THE STEAK it's specialty. Pros: modest prices, great service, good parking Cons: Need more seating more

The full meal deal 10/3/2002

This place has very good food not just steaks. Not many places continue to serve relish trays, salad and the entree. It is nice to see a place where the average person can fill comfortable and eat well. Pros: lots of food, good atmosphere Cons: crowded, busy, waiting more
